New Friedman signature model: “The Hooker”
😂Naw, that would hit too close to home for Dave.
This was REALLY GOOD. Jason is an absolute bad ass.
Learned some cool things from this one!! :)
Always super enjoyable hearing Jason speak. It's really cool to hear him nerd out. Really cool hearing yngwie's real rig setup. Always more going on then what they tell you lol even if it's just a pedal or 2.
When you mentioned the difference between bands with real amps on stage vs not, I had the same experience at a Guns N Roses concert where Alice In Chains opened and their sound was FAR superior to Guns. It sounded more full, balanced and organic.
I hope they make more of his signature explorers again.
Jason is a gnarly player! Big fan. I love that he still has the “that guy is the best!” kind of vibe? I had a mentor growing up that Jason might remember (Billy Morris) and their playing styles were always really close to my ear. Super tasty like Gary Moore or DeMartini but you could tell that they listened to Paul Gilbert and were tight on their shred chops. Jason’s the man!
GREAT EPISODE !!! so happy hearing what Jason is using his new rig is really slamming super heavy live!!
Jason is one of the nicest guys , a ferocious player with a kick ass ear for tone. One of the few tone chasers in the metal genre.
Aprendí mucho .... gracias 🤘🤘🤘
Don't know much about 5FDP, but Jason is a very knowledgeable guy, which probably accounts for his success. Best part is he's a Canuck!
the Avantone CLA-200 is what you want. its a 2 space poweamp, convection cooled - no fan noise
I must admit I didn’t know Jason before this (not my style of music) but what a great guy excellent show 👌👌
Wasn’t Dave Mustaine new sig V 24fret? Is the decimator first or last in the loop chain of the back of the head? Killer show tonight
1st in line before the delay and harmonizer
@@JasonHook hell yeah, I have a similar set up. But never tried the gate thru the loop. Friedman runt 50 with the lynch mod mr scary. Into a mess dry can 4x12 vintage 30s. I run a dimension C into a dd -500 into a chase bliss reverb into a mxr ten band in the back of the loop in that order. Line out goes to fractal effects into Marshall 9200 into left and right Marshall 1960 cabs. And some other drive and effect pedals in front of the amp in separate loops just for option. Look forward to hearing the new band
Dave modded my 800. I’ve spent more on pedals. And now this amp is a MONSTER
YES I second that - on having Chris Baseford on Tone Talk! He's a nerd dejour & would be Excellent!!! Also, could you post a diagram of Jason Hook's Friedman rig? Excellent episode!! Mr. Hook is a freaking monster of a player - really dig his catalog!
You guys should get Ben Eller and Andy Wood on the show
Gibson has made a few 24 fret guitars one is the 2013 SGJ and I believe the gothic SG. I have the sgj.
Wasn't the SG supreme 24 frets ? I know my Epiphone Prophecy SG custom has 24 frets, flame maple tops but sometimes I get them confused with the SG supreme .
That was awesome. Love Jason and have his older signature guitar in the collection. Great hearing 5150. It wasn't the transtrem just drop d tuning.
You’re right, thnx
@@JasonHook That would be one of the hardest riffs I can think of and you smoked it and on acoustic!
I'm here, can we get Jim Root on ? Ty
Great interview with Jason. Amazing old school feel player with a modern attitude.
I saw some pdi09’s in Jase’s rig are they being used for FOH?
I’m still using them with my EVH heads with great affect.
Top work guys. Really enjoyed the interview 🤘🏼
Looks healthy!
Great episode. It has taken me a few days to finish watching this but… I had a Mesa 2:90 like Jason uses up until last winter. I ran it with both 6L6 and EL34s…don’t slaughter the comment, YES you can do that simultaneously in the 2:90. It sounded great.
Awesome episode. Jason is great.... But there was no real talking about his career... All the different people he's recorded with, written with, played live... There's tons more stories there... Part 2 please.!!!
Wikipedia has that .....
If you want an explorer and not a gibson, the ESP models are spot on.
Even better are the Dean select series Z. Way way better than any Gibson V or Explorer that is ever played. That's probably why Gibson chose to sue when they did, kill the competition 😢
Shit, if you can find a 79 vintage series Z or V those are better than most Gibson.
‘Butt Rock’ refers to post grunge heavy music that is radio friendly. He term comes from the cliche “KBLY Radio…l.nothing but rock” phrase you often hear on modern rock radio
Jason is the fuckin coolest dude. Awesome show!
I saw Gn’R in London last summer. Dave’s description of the Hollywood bowl gig sums my experience up perfectly. I don’t get how it can be allowed to carry on that way. Really feel for 4tus. He’s wasted with them.
Another Canadian boy!
Any chance of getting a diagram of how Dave setup Jason's rig?
Jason hook with a hat = jared dines
Gibson made an SG1 or X (later) in the 90's that had 24 frets and Dave Mustaine's has 24 frets.
Vito Bratta?
About the pickups I have a boost on some old Ultrasonics and are at 18k. But the SD Jeff Loomis pickups are 22k!! Got to turn off my tube screamers. LOL! I think he just wanted pickups hot enough to skip any boost as the pickups already have it. So plug in and go as a world touring guitarist.
Anyone know what device Jason is showing at 52:15? Thanks in advance :)
GnR had no amps onstage?
I agreed with Dave on the Satch playing Eddie. It wasn’t good at all.
What pedal is he showing at 52:25?
Boss EVH SDE3000 EVH Delay
@@tone-talkThanks Marc! Another great episode
