Amazing performance! Bach was an amazing composer of the Baroque Era, and his descendants were also great musicians. Have always loved Jian Wang's performances, especially the Elgar Cello Concerto.
A very fine performance, combining musicality with impressive technical mastery. Jian Wang doesn't aim at a specifically Baroque style, but neither does he introduce inappropriately Romantic elements into his reading. Bravo!
I'm obsessed. 🥹
A GMMFS highlight that people are still talking about! How great to see it here!
Love GMMFS! This music is so great!
After listening to so much violin today (from Tchaikovsky competition) this beauty made my day
Its a great music! love jianwang!!
I am looking forward to watch 2015 gmmfs music videos...

🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
he played the entire suites maybe that is why it sounds little tense.
It`s Bach, not Dvorak.
elgatosucio not that I think he necessarily does play it like Dvorak, but if one plays the 6th suite on a regular 4-string cello (not to mention with steel strings, endpin, and modern bow) instead of the intended 5-string instrument, one might as well play it like Dvorak. On a regular 4-string cello the suite becomes a completely different experience, both sonically and technically, and all search for authenticity is basically thrown out the window. ;-)
But for a "modern" performance I think this is certainly one of the best I've heard. Full of life and poetry :-)
@@Miffopro I agree!
