I have no clue how this isnt blown up, this is very very impressive and definitely shows just how much you care about your rats and about their happiness!! Thank you for taking the time to make this cage and to show it off!
I'm so happy with how critter nation designed the cage to where you can add on as many as you want. Best rat cage out there. I want rats so bad the last ones I had was probably 10yrs ago when I was 7😭
This is one of the best cages I've ever seen. I would love to have this many critter nations, I have no doubt I will when I no longer live with my parents. I love the bioactive as well! I'm planning on switching soon and I'm so excited :)
lovely cage-setup. i had different cages for my about 20 rats at one time. But i also had transformed half my house into a free-roaming place, this until i got evicted and the fun ended for all of us. I liked to put a lot of three-branches and different plants in the cages . At times it would look like small jungles, but the rats would chew up the plants quikly. Dried up plants and leaves i would use again for covering the bottom-floors of the cages, somewhat like straw. I would all mix it with paper and strawdust or woodchips. Wich i would also cut myself from threebranches. Especially rotten wood would provide perficht woodchips.
watching them all try to get out was so funny, I'd be so stressed making sure they weren't all about to fall haha This is my dream cage!! One day I'll be able to do something similar lmao
Wonderful tour of your setup! Thank you for taking the time. We're interested in both the Cage cleaning timelaspe and the Bioactive With Rats videos :)
Holy shit, imagine! The clean up!!! I’m glad you only have 9 though! Lots of rat owners have 12 or more with bigger cages like this and I don’t know how people do it.
Hi Zoe, lovely to see you back on UA-cam. Your rat cage is amazing! The set-up is incredible. So much to keep your nine rats occupied. Love how the rats are following you around. I would love to see a cage cleaning time-lapse 🙂.
I'm currently learning about rat care in preparation for me and my bf getting some rats in the near future and I'm incredibly amazed by your cage/cages, I never knew you could do something like this and I definetly will store this information in my brain so I can do something like this when I get my own house. Amazing work, I love seeing people take good care of their pets especially the pets that are usually neglected due to false information spread by mostly pet stores.
WOW! Soon, hopefully before the end of the year, I am going to hopefully have my own apartment and I'm debating what critters I want to take with me. I've had rats in the past and loved them but I just didn't have the space for a proper cage. Seeing this just makes me want to fully invest in keeping rats. I loooove this set up and I already feel like I'm going to binge any of your rat videos lol.
it would be cool if you made little rope ladders with that rope cause it looks like they don't wanna climb on them possibly because of how thin it is in comparison to their size. would also be a neat way to connect parts of the cage/ sections
Zoe that’s amazing my three girls have a lovely three level cage and a backup Smaller one I need to get them some more stimulating toys our pet shops don’t provide the variety you get. Hi from Western Australia 😊🐀🐀🐁🇦🇺
I never really comment on videos, but this video is SO amazing. I was surprised to see there weren’t a TON of likes. Never watched you before, but just subscribed. I am in loveee and would love to see a cage cleaning routine :)
Oh my goodness, I only have 2 young females and I'm fixing to buy them a bigger cage to add more things to explore, your cage is the bomb, it's amazing!
This is the best setup I've ever seen this is gorgeous and I love your rats I wish I had rats this is very inspiring for one if I get rats but I'm older it's amazing that you can supply them with this much space I love what you're doing and keep up with the work I would love to be one of your rats it's really shows how much you love them and that they might have a short light span that they should deserve everything that they can get
So, when you say "bioactive", I don’t know that I’m truly seeing that. Don’t get me wrong, I ADORE this setup, so much, and find it incredibly inspiring!! 🙏🏼 But to call it BIOACTIVE, that means there is actual dirt, soil, plants, beneficial bugs, like natural decomposers, detritivores, springtails, isopods, etc. in there. Possibly a filtered, running fresh water source mimicking a stream. To me, that is a truly bioactive, living system…I don’t think using wood and rustic decor is the definition of bioactive. Again, I love the setup, don’t get me wrong, but is it truly a living ecosystem with microfauna, the helpful bugs to help control mold and break down waste? I know rodents are inquisitive and will likely destroy plants, but even growing some grass in there, something from seed, with actual dirt and sand to burrow in. The grass will get eaten but if you have adequate lighting, it would reseed and be a complete contained system. Just saying.
Woah you weren't kidding with "mansion" in your title. Even that mansion at the bottom of your cage pales in size comparison to your cage 🤣 amazing. So many enrichment!
Is that like.... the best cage I have ever seen in my life? You are the best rat owner I have ever met and I hope to be very inspired by you to create a cool cage for my (:
I plan on doing an enclosure just about this big for my 5 girls, major reason is that 2 of them just refuse to live in a cage so I want a cage big enought for them to feel free. Basiqualy same reason I wont build a fence for my dog or dont go on dog park. They are intelligent and understand the meaning of fences and bars. Seeing your cage help me visualise what I can do with that much space
Saw this cage originally on pinterest! Although I don't have the space for a full wall cage (yet), they are getting a DIY cage made from a 4"x4"ft truck bed and 1/2'in wire that's 5ft tall.
I’ve got my rats for six months now but I can‘t pick them up or pet them. They don’t climb me and stuff. I tried everything. I put old clothing in their cage. I sat in front of their cage and talked to them. When I put for example yoghurt on my hand they bite my finger. And when I pet them they turn around and bite my finger. Can you give me some advice on how they could realize that my hand isn’t a treat? And something so they are not afraid of me picking them up?
This total project cost around $3200, not including other set up themes in the past. A lot of what I did was actually DIY, but you could cut down the cost even more by buying the cages second hand, which I encourage as they can be expensive. Of course, a cage does not have to be this large or cost this much to house happy, healthy, thriving rats :)
Truly awesome setup. I kind of have to ask though. why all the cages? it looks like its a rat room so why not buy some cover the skirting lay plastic and floor foam panels on top. install a child gate with mesh on it and put in a few bookcases bore holes and add ropes and just give them the room
I would love to see the bioactive how to video first! I've been researching so much about this type of substrate for rat enclosures but it doesnt seem like there is much info on it on youtube😔
i do not have rats and i dont plan to as i dont have the space (maybe in the future though) but this is the best cage i’ve seen! this is what i want mine to look like if i ever get rats🥺
I have two rats myself and I like the how you have your cage set up, would you mind sharing what type of cage you used to make such a large enclosure for them and maybe a video explaining how you did it, I want to do a lot with my cage but it’s to small for me to anything real intricate with, so I’m looking to expand it kinda like how you have yours set up but maybe as 2 by 2 instead of 3 by 3
I think you might be referring to the Cholla wood I have throughout the enclosure! It's the wood with all the holes, it can be bought at many pet stores in smaller pieces :)
This will be Me with My ferrets in the future! Right now My girl has a two “story” ferret nation all to her self! So if I get three one day I’d so don’t this if I have the money too!😂
If I die I want to be reincarnated as one of your rats
Lol "if"
@@Spoons109 who knows, they could be immortal, they just haven’t found that out yet

This is the most amazing set up Ive ever seen. Thank you for showing it to us. Ive got a lot of work to do.
Awe thank you 🙏
@@ZoesRescueZoo can I ask how much you spent on the cage? Thank you 😊
SAME!😍😍😍😍😍😍
I hope my rats never see this video, I would be in so much trouble!
😆😄😃
The fact that you have the patience to clean this blows my mind
I have no clue how this isnt blown up, this is very very impressive and definitely shows just how much you care about your rats and about their happiness!! Thank you for taking the time to make this cage and to show it off!
Thank you for such a kind compliment🥰
It’s them all trying to escape the whole time for me
Yah they think it’s time to free roam or they want treats😀
Mine do the same thing😂
I want to see the cage cleaning timelapse!
How’s the ammonia smell management with a natural cage?
Better than anything I’ve ever used! Switching was by far the best thing I’ve ever done!
I’d love to see the bio active video! I’m all about keeping things natural!
I'm so happy with how critter nation designed the cage to where you can add on as many as you want. Best rat cage out there. I want rats so bad the last ones I had was probably 10yrs ago when I was 7😭
It’s cute to see your rats following you, it really shows how much they love you and see you as there mama rat ❤️☺️😅

i imagine that since it’s bioactive cleanup isn’t TOO bad but still 🤯
It’s not that hard really you just have to do it

Dang I wish you'd upload more, I love rats and am super interested in making a cage like this over a period of time for my future rat babies
I’m so happy you posted this! I saw it when you posted it on FB and was shook!
The size is absolutely amazing. A lot of empty space though for older rats that can't get around so well.
it would be cool if you made little rope ladders with that rope cause it looks like they don't wanna climb on them possibly because of how thin it is in comparison to their size. would also be a neat way to connect parts of the cage/ sections

This is amazing but cleaning this must be hell. Your ratties are so lucky to have such a great owner as you
hope you dont mind me asking but your green pipes you have in the cage with the large hole in.. how do you hang them on the side of the cage

Came for the rat mansion, stayed for Zoe. Holy moly.
Brilliant! You can tell they are loved ratties! (from UK)

This inspired me to have 2 double CN's ziptied together. Yesterday I finally did it :D My boys love it so much! Thank you ^_^

Would you be able to give a rough estimate for this set up cost minus the cage accessories? So the cages and acrylic bases :)
This total project cost around $3200, not including other set up themes in the past. I was wondering if adding charcoal to my substrate to keep my springtails alive is safe for my rats! Thank you so much!
How much did the cages all together minus the stuff inside cost?
She replied to another comment as $3200
Truly awesome setup. I kind of have to ask though. why all the cages? it looks like its a rat room so why not buy some cover the skirting lay plastic and floor foam panels on top. install a child gate with mesh on it and put in a few bookcases bore holes and add ropes and just give them the room
where did you get the decorations in the cage? they are lovely

How much did you spend on all the cages combined
Best rat cage I have ever seen. I love it

Hi could you give me the cost and notes on how to build those green tubes with the “windows” ? Or if you have an Etsy shop I’ll buy some :)
This is amazing! Do you ever have trouble finding your ratties in such a large space?

Question did you build this piece by piece or did you buy it and put it together ?
i don't know what to say, this is awesome!!!
What’s the name of the wood you keep mentioning please?I can’t catch it due to bad hearing.
I think you might be referring to the Cholla wood I have throughout the enclosure! It's the wood with all the holes, it can be bought at many pet stores in smaller pieces :)
I never thought to put one of my skulls in the rat cage, I've gotta try that!
How the heck do you keep it clean, they pee on everything!
