Dude if you don't grow up playing maquinitas, dunno where you grew up but it wasn't México

I saw this video posted in “Videogame screenshots out of context” and I’m glad you shared it with the group! I learned a lot of really cool stuff thanks to you. Great video! 😁✨
I'm glad you also learned new stuff from it, and thank you for giving me the chance through the page!
As an Argentinian, I loved how they made it so Snake can drink mate to recover stamina in MGS Peace Walker. It's the little things you know.
The Melee Luigi mention lmfao
I'll change society to the point where Luigi is mostly associated with Mexico
I haven’t laughed so hard in a video in such a long time until Mexican luigi played
just so you man, Quetzalcoatl in Fate had an awesome debut. watch her clips, especially her noble phantasm (basically the topmost ultimate of characters) is the meteor herself that killed the dinosaurs.
Shout out to Goyo from Rainbow Six Siege. He's from Sinaloa, he's part of the Mexican Special Forces, and is named after the Don Goyo volcano!
Some final Fighting Game Mexican representation that doesn't get talked about. You got Phobos/Huitzil from DarkStalkers (which Amingo was supposed to debut in) and El Blaze from Virtua Fighter 5
What a really amazing tour through to the mexican culture in videogames. It also was pretty cool to listen to mexican-like videogame music in the background, 10/10 compadre.
Unfortunately the music got me a copyright claim lmao, it was the Rayman Legends one. Tragic, but there's not much I can do about it now
Thanks for watching the video btw! I'm very happy you really enjoyed it
You look MAD handsome, this video felt straight from the heart as usual. Also very minor detail, you forgot to include the Nopon Village BGM in your list of music used, not that it matters that much.
OH YOU RIGHT! I'm gonna add it, thank you for pointing it out
Also, you're more handsome bro
"Dude... Go outside..." Literally things I have said to so many people. Great video! Sincerly, a friend from Brazil and the US! :D
Yeah lmao, its sad how many people can be so close minded simply because they refuse to know the world.
Greetings from Mexico friend!
Don't forget about incineroar from pokemon sun and moon! I really appreciated this video though. I grew up around Mexican culture and mi abuela made sure of that. Really good to look back on all the characters and environments that paid respects to those things. Especially King. King is awesome.
Incinerar is More like US wresrtling
I'm mexican and the intro part just represent very perfectly mexico, funny marriages, violence, a minion playing drums, a dragon ball themed March, a guy crashing with Jesus at his back and the Legendary Edgar
Still missing the drunk ranchero tio
For whatever reason, in No More Heroes, Travis has a picture of Santa Maria in his room implying he is Catholic. Not to mention he loves Wrestling and Lucha Libre is one of them. He has a ton of Lucha Libre Mask on his wall.
Also, another Grasshopper Manufacture game, in Killer7, we get some Mexican/Hispanic representation with Coyote Smith and Mask de Smith, but that's about it.
SUDA51 has always been very vocal about his love for Mexico, he also loves mexican wrestling/lucha libre
Canonically, Santa Destroy is near of the Mexico/USA frontier, so that's why the city has so many Mexican influences
Absolute banger. Always enjoy seeing your posts on facebook talking about Mexico and sharing your life experienecs. I am not Mexican but my dad's side all immigrated from El Salvador, but growing up he never really did much with outside of a his stories from growing up during the civil war that was going on at the time. As an adult I live with my grandma now but I regret being so distant from this side of my family until recently. When I get the chance to sit down with her I'll often ask her about what things were like for her when was raised and lived in El Salvador
Can't believe Luigi is definite Mexican representation. Amazing.
Viva la misfires.
It's official now, nobody can revoke his Mexican rights
Lol dude found this from the Facebook pages you run. Solid content, loved the Mexican footage montage at the start of the video lol
The entire LittleBigPlanet "Wedding" world is based on The Day of The Dead too
Kotal Kahn from MKX it's pretty much an Aztek based character and of course it is in a fighting game, greetings from CDMX!
I was hoping to see Sombra from Overwatch, it wasn't the case but I enjoyed the video quite a lot.
Persona 6 in Mexico when?
First in Brazil, then we can move to Mexico

Dude, thank you for this video. I had always been interested in this topic since I was 5 and saw Amingo in mvc2. I just checked your recent content, and I have to say it's equally as good. Keep up the great content.
This was a great and informative look at examples of representation that I sometimes don't think twice about. A very excellent video.
I first intended to glance over the video to see if I could find a game that would appeal to me, but I ended up watching the whole thing! Great video! Speaking of Pokémon, isn't there also Pikachu Libre, or is it based on another culture?
Thank you for the watch friend!
Well yeah there's Pikachu Libre so it counts as Mexican culture, but to be honest, I quite forgot about her haha, not a big fan of Pikachu Libre because in my eyes she stole Hawlucha's spot in Pokken
Huitzil from Darkstalkers and Pepe from Rage of the Dragons came to my mind with the fighting game representation.
First video I've seen from this channel, and it was pretty great! Came here from the Videogame Screenshots out of Context page.
I'm surprised to see that Grim Fandango didn't make the list. It's a great point-and-click adventure that has a good story, mexican folklore, Aztec afterlife beliefs, and has a film noire style. It's usually the first thing I think of when talking about Mexican representation in videogames.
Don't know much about Grim Fandango, I thought it was mostly based on Spain(?)
If it has Mexican influence I should give it a look someday
@@TheGameShelf It's a wonderful blend of Aztec beliefs and Mexican culture in a film noire story. The characters are based on calacas.
The main character is a man named Manny Calavera, though he's more Meixcan-American rather than simply being Mexican but it's still nice. I really recommend the game.
One of my favorite Mexican characters from an Arcade game is Don Tacos from Pang 3
Even though I main Captain Hog, Don Tacos has a special place in my heart, just makes you say "Soy ese"
Great job on the video fam! Facebook sent me here
I really appreciate it friend, it means a lot to me
Splatoon 2 was inspired by the creator childhood while living in Mexico.
Yoooo what about some of the levels from Little Big Planet? They even featured Mexican bands.
The Wedding level with the theme of Día de los Muertos and music from Cafe Tacuba, and The Canyon level, with luchadores and sombreros, and music from Kinky.
The music from the Canyons level was the shit.
Fantastic my dude !! , i Dont ussually play fighting games so i didnt know about all of these characters that are also included in these famous IP's, i could also share some of my favorites too
Raul Tejada from Fallout New Vegas
Sombra from Overwatch
Amigo from well Sega i guess
Reyna from Valorant
Found you through your features on Macca's videos, incredible content :)
Great video. I had a blast being able to work with you dude.
Really you were a massive help for this video, thank you so much
I miss Sombra from Overwatch
Love your videos. Going to listen to them whilst I torture myself with Fallout 76 again. :)
Hey Luis, one bit of Mexican cultural representation you can find in less-well-known game is the luchador character "Mask de Smith" from the Suda51 videogame named "Killer7." It was released for the GameCube in 2005, and for the PC on Steam in 2018. He can do awesome stuff like suplex enemies that game, or even headbutt a bullet with his masked head.
Would you have liked Mexico to have been a more important location in the first "Red Dead Redemption" game?
Also, Mictlantecuhtli in Bayonetta :)
Goyo from Rainbow 6 Siege! i went nuts when i found out a Mexican operative was being added.
Oh something else, the Art of Fighting 3 takes place in Mexico, like all of it. Lots of cool Mexican backgrounds.
Hello! Thanks for the video, here is one "Dawn of the Mexica" I believe it was made in Mexico and is all about ancient Aztec culture and mythology
This video is too golden 💀😭 I love that we have representation !
I love to talk about stuff like this often! Hope you can also check my other stuff
And than you for the comment!
King’s story is the same as Nacho Libre
I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING
That's because both are inspired by a real person, Fray Tormenta, with King also being based on Japanese pro wrestler Satoru Sayama.
According to games, Latinos can defy gravity. Brazilians can double jump in the Metal Gear universe, Afro-Latinos can lightning dash through New York, Columbian looking Mexicans can give the middle finger to terminal velocity in the Just Cause universe, and Sora from Kingdom Hearts has a three point crown on his concept art just like the Almighty Latin Kings’ tattoo
17:35 I'm surprised you actually managed to say her name. Most fans just call her that and show a picture of her because the name is hard to pronounce.
Won't lie, it was a mouthful pronounce Quetzalcoatl, Tezcatlipoca and Tlaltecuhtli consecutively, had to practice that line a lot for it to be at least decent haha
@@TheGameShelf well the results show your efforts. Macca was right for recommending you.
3:28 is just Nacho Libre but with a Jaguar mask
Well, I'm venezuelan, and my country is not very represented in games, but a thing that I loved was one mission on Call of Duty: Ghosts where the protagonist have to go to a futurist Caracas, the dialogues of the enemys and diversity of mechanics in the mission was just awesome
15:36
Theyre not the only pokemon based on mexican culture
Also Incineroar, mudkip and maaaaaybe rayquaza in some part
Wooper is an Ajolote xD
@@AzaelHD im not totally sure about wooper xd
Why haven't I checked your videos out sooner this rocked

Angel from the king of fighters is a character that was made in the honor of a Mexican video game player who won championships of this video game…… his name was angel as well
I love your videos, Mr. Game Shelf
And I love your support Mr. No Sauce, thank you!
"ALL Mexicans are good at King of Fighters" Amigo, that is so true. When I was a kid, my parents used to take me to visit family in Mexico City. I would visit the arcades to have fun only to get my ass handed to me by the locals. Lol! EVERY Mexican gamer was good at KOF.
WHO TF disliked this amazing video?
I screamed at the Luigi bit
Tremendo video, Master
Gracias Poggers Fish
To add onto the fighting game characters, Jose “Pepe” Rodriguez from Rage of the Dragons! He’s a great guy and the best part is he isn’t a grappler! He’s a rush down character!
You forgot Fight Night. Boxing game with some Mexican fighters
Not bad but I would like your precision to try to do this video 😳🤯😃

1:33 ah yes what I'm doing right now is on the screen. Amazing...
Have you tried Aztech Forgotten Gods or Mulaka? They’re both games made by a Mexican game studio called Lienzo and they’re based on Mexican folk-lore and natives!
Time for an updated video please
Closest thing I've experienced Mexican stuff in video games is Rouge's alternate luchador costume in Sonic Adventure 2 and Knuckles' dia de la muertos alt costume.
and I guess that one time Super Mario turned into a Mexican in the anime movie XDDDD
OH YEAH AMINGO!! damn it's been ages since I played MvsC2
Sadly one of my brother's friends stole that along with Power Stone 2...
Well, I main Luigi and I'm Mexican. So I approve.
Well, Mexica-American XD My mom's side of the family predates Texas tho so =P
I don't understand the chancla meme.
Like if anything it'd be a wooden spoon mom'd beat me with rofl
Maybe it's because Izumi Curtus from Fullmetal Alchemist uses it.
Wait Super Mario odyssey has a mexico level?!?! Damn I need to play that game now.
My little brother only gave it to me for a birthday three years ago! XD
I'm surprised you didn't mention Raul Tejeda from fallout new Vegas, he has such a tragic backstory and a unique quest, hes also voiced by Danny trejo! There's also sombra from overwatch, nothing about her comes off as Mexican until you hear her talk in Spanish and here her accent, her design is such a breath of fresh air, shes not a luchador, mariachi etc shes a smart hacker with a neon purple, futuristic design. Also you didn't mention Javeir escuella at all from Rdr 1 and 2, hes suave as fuck in the second game but becomes the opposite in the first game, its unfortunate how little he was used in the second game, almost everyone e loved him in rdr2 especially his amazing poncho lol
Now we about to get a whole ass racing game in mexico in November forza Horizon 5 lessss gooooooo
Hola amigo! Fellow Mexican here, but living in Texas. What about Viva Pinata? Would that, in any way, be considered representation?
Can I know where you got the poncho? I love the rooster design
I asked my friend who lent it to me
Apparently his mom got it in Tamazula Jalisco, but that was many years ago
@@TheGameShelf Thanks! That's super convenient, my family is from there!
No problem friend! Hope you can find a cool one
damn Atlus USAWest looks swagger!
Gotta try to look as best as possible if I'm to become the image of Atlus USAWest
this reminds me, i have a question concerning representation of Mexico in anime:
how accurate is the representation of Mexicans in Mobile Fighter G Gundam?
Cool video.
Garcia hotspur from shadows of the damned
You said Mexico in spanish correctly, you deserve my respects.
You forgot two points.
El blaze, a mexican wrestler that appears on Virtua Fighter 5.
A carácter that can be used by begginers.
The other is in the game shadow of the danmed. Ths carácter is García.
And he is cool, not like El fuerte.
Saludos!
Por favor sáquennos de America del Norte . . .

How about video games that were made by Mexican developers
half the characters in grim fandango are mexicans and its the most awesome game
Haven't watched the whole video, but is Raul Tejeda in this video?
