I'm sorry to say that while I normally reserve my applause solely for your works.....that you just might have some stiff competition with Celtic Angels' version of this song (which they sing more verses of too).
"Yet suddenly for Faramir his heart was strangely moved with a feeling that he had not known before. Here was one with an air of high nobility such as Aragorn at times revealed, less high perhaps, yet also less incalculable and remote: one of the Kings of Men born into a later time, but touched with the wisdom and sadness of the Elder Race. He knew now why Beregond spoke his name with love. He was a captain that men would follow, that he would follow, even under the shadow of the black wings."
I've always loved Beregond in the book. He isn't the strongest or noble man in the world but he seems to be able to think for himself and follow what he believes to be stronger willed men, he's the perfect "disciple".
" *From the Ashes a fire shall be woken. A light from the Shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The Crownless again shall be king.* "
Holy crap, the first part was awesome, but that second part gave me chills. I’m imagining a host of men singing this during the night watch, unplanned, keeping their spirits through til dawn
Somber stand the stalwart sons of the Tower of Guard, unmoving in the face of death, though hearts are riven by fear. In silence they watch as mighty Ramas Echor falls in the distance. They know the bridge of Osgiliath is lost, and the western half of the city with it. Down below, thw gaze o'er the open field as routing men on horses flee for their lives. The gates groan open, and out rides brave Imrahil, prince of Dol Amroth, at the head of a column of knights of the silver swan, pennants fluttering as they put spurs to horse and, joined by Mithrandir, charge into the throng that dares assail their brothers. The men watching from the ramparts raise their voices, only a few at first, only a whispet carried by the southward wind - but soon it grows to a bellowing, defiant roar as all those noble sons of the white city show their resolve to fight to the bitter end.
This is my favorite song/poem in the the LOTR. To me the moment of Pippin singing this for Denathor is the moment we realize the desperate last stand the people of the White City are in Osgiliath has been lost, the lower levels of Minas Tirith are being over run, they are completely surrounded with complete destuction of there nation drawing closer every second. Then from over the fields of Pelenor a horn is sounded not orcish but Rohirim. Charging across the field upon their noble steeds they crash into the endless hordes of the Dark Lord, breaking the siege and restoring hope to the brave defenders once again. Its these moments that are the reason I love the world of Middle Earth
It’s a almost a great privilege to have heard of Clamavi de Profundis. We’ve been gifted with glorious music from some very talented people who practically reify Middle-Earth with their awesome voices
It's part of one of the Hobbits' songs in the Fellowship book. But Pippin became something of a celebrity for a short time in Return of the King, he might've taught it to them.
When Pippin told Denethor his songs were unfit for "great Halls" and Denethor responded "and why should your songs be unfit for my halls?", Pippin should have just answered "Because the Clamavi de Profundis version is much more fitting, my Lord" and just played this.
Try this: [Step 1] slow the speed to 0.75 and keep the video paused at the mark of 0:05 [Step 2] open up a new youtube tab and type in: The Lord of the Rings - The Sacrifice of Faramir (extended edition) [Step 3] At 2:56 into the movie scene, just as soon as Denethor finishes saying "and why should your songs be unfit for my halls", quickly come back to this video and play the song, then go back to the movie scene and mute it before Pippin starts singing. This song seems to fit the style and emotion of the scene better, I think.
This is the full version, relatively speaking. This is not from the novels. Billy Boyd wrote an original composition for the Return of the King & there are no more verses.
I've heard a lot of other musicians try to make songs of Tolkien's poems, but most fall short of meeting the grandeur of his works. This doesn't, and that's the greatest compliment I can give of someone adapting from one of the greatest writers who ever lived.
Amazing! Thank you! I was waiting for this! But my humble opinion is that you should have used the entire poem by Tolkien not only the part of the movie. Anyway I just live waiting for your songs!! Will you make a version of Bilbo's last song and I sit beside the fire and think, please? Especially this last one would be great mixing the original poem in English and the sindarin version in the end of the rotk credits!
There's another Tolkien artist on UA-cam known as Colin Rudd. If you haven't come across his renditions of the songs you requested yet, I'd recommend them to you because you may enjoy them also. They're definitely in a different style than that of Clamavi De Profundis, but still very enjoyable in their own right. All the best! I would absolutely LOVE it if you guys made the compleat version of this song, found in the first volume of LOTR (the fellowship...). I was really looking forward to having it the whole thing put to music 😢. I was disappointed, but I still love it. It's one of my favourite songs from the Middle Earth lore. Your music brings so much of what I love about Middle Earth to life, keep up the amazing work!
The first half of this song in particular moves me. I don't know who sings it but his voice in fantastic. I can also sing along with him as a fellow base.
These songs make me so emotional, I always loved the scene where Pippin sings it, but this fits so perfectly in Denethor's Halls! Thank you for "giving" this piece to us, it's as majestic as Thorin himself~
I have said it before and I will say it again you guys are amazing and I really hope to see a rendition of the battle of sorcery between Fingol and Sauron.
Great to see a return to our beloved Middle-earth and fantastic work as always. Ive mooched free music for most of my life, but I will remain a patron of yours as long as you keep making content, and gladly so.
Oh my goodness, this is SO beautiful! It gives me the feels just like the actual version, yet has another feel to it that makes it even better! And it gives me goosebumps! Y’all did a very great job! 👏🏻
Please do the full version as it appeared in the book. Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower, leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare thee well! Fare thee well! Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, We'll wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, All shall fade! All shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed!
Fantastic as always! In the future, could you guys do the full Walking Song from Fellowship? It's one of my favorite poems from any Tolkien work, and you would do an amazing job bringing it to life!
I love these songs! I literally have listened to each one 100 times over. I think this musical group is very talented and amazing. I would subscribe every time I listened to one of these songs if I could. Great work!
Found you tonight and have binged all your LotR music, find myself crying while listening. Haven't been this emotional about music in a while so thank you for the catharsis.
I would love to see you guys do a full version of this from the books. The Walking Song is what this was taken from and what I would dearly love to hear in full!
Great and UA-cam now officially ruined one of my suprise birthday presents. This video. You guys uploaded it on my birthday, i subscribed to you and i hit the bell, so that- wait, what the heck? Why is the notification bell unchecked?! ... *UA-cam WHAT HAVE YOU DONE THIS TIME??!* Anyway, great work again, you guys. Greetings from good ol' Germany!

I’m surprised, since they did the full song of the misty mountain, that they didn’t cover the full walking song from the Fellowship of the Ring book.
