I actually had a working model of the Seaview I got through an advertisement that was on a cereal box when I was small. It was about 10 inches long and had a hidden compartment where you put in a tablespoon of baking soda and it would react with the water to make bubbles like it was really cruising along in the bathtub. That was fun...lol
My girlfriends would have ostracized me but I loved the Seaview. It was so beautiful I imagined living on it. To this day I have a model and poster of the schematics. I grew up in St. Louis and one day as I drove down Florissant Rd I nearly wrecked because there out in the playground of a daycare was a model of the Seaview! Turns out it was reproduced to scale by an engineer who worked for McDonnell Douglas in St Louis. The model shown in the series was 8 ft long eventually ended up in a museum in Portland OR I think but since has gone into moth balls. If I were a billionaire I would make a replica that could take people on an excursion and cast the immediate crew to look as close to the original as possible.
I introduced this very show back in 1969! I was on a local Philadelphia kids' show called "Wee Willie Webber" on PHL17. I think by then, Voyage was in reruns but it was my 1st moment on local TV when I was 9 years old. My Cub Scout Pack was there for a taping after school and I was able to watch myself on TV at 6 pm when the show aired. 😀
Carl and I are enjoying the heck out of this colorized high quality reproduction. This has brought back great memories of family gathering around TV Sunday nights locked in on the story. Thank you. 🙏🏼
Most don’t realize the flying sub was originally built to operate with the fins underneath. They decided to flip it to fins on top it had a better look.
OUTSTANDING WORK!! You COMPLETELY captured the realism of the show in all of the features of the Seaview in peacetime, complete with the Flying sub!! I love the lighted interior shots on both and the diorama is beautifully made! Kudos to keeping a Irwin Allen's vision and our childhood fascination ALIVE!!😃👍
Thanks so much. Yes, I made the entire diorama and model myself. I do a lot of dioramas on my N scale train layout, so I was familiar with using the products that I did. The only thing I added that I didn’t make with a plastic aquarium plants. I think it came out pretty cool though especially with the lighting. Thanks again for watching and commenting.
Lovely craftsmanship. The one thing I never understood is that the sub had torpedoes but these are never shown on the model. In one episode i think it was Crane gave the order to fire stern tubes, So both front and aft tubes.
It’s a kit and it’s about 39 inches long. I didn’t care for it just sitting on its original stand so I made the diorama instead. Thanks for the nice comment.
Hi, Keith. On the Seaview where did the torpedos leave the sub? As they only showed the torpides comming from under the Seaview. With the camera pointing toeards the observation nose. And Seaview was tilted towards the camera so you could not see the bottom of the ship when they where fired forward.. I love your Diorama it so show perfect. You did a great job. Stay safe to you and your loved ones.
That would be cool and I actually did try to think of a way to have bubbles coming out. Alas I stayed with this idea instead. Thanks for liking and watching.
Thanks so much, I would like to keep it though, sorry. I love looking at it in my man cave! Just thought it up one night trying to get to sleep. I have a lot of model train diorama building supplies and it incorporates a lot of the base materials, i.e. sculpting plaster, foam board, etc. The outer coating is a granite look spray paint. The plants are artificial aquarium plants.
I don't blame you, I wouldn't want to sell it either if it was mine. So much work clearly as gone in to making it. It must look fantastic lit up. Thank you for posting it for all the "Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea," fans to see.. What a treat.

I remember that!
Same I wish I had it now as I wish I had all the token collections from the 60's I once had
Sounds like a small toy submarine I got as a prize from a box of Cracker Jacks when I was around nine or ten.
Really?! Wow!
I had the same type but they were yellow and Los Angeles class submarines.
They were about 7 or 8 inches long.
I think I remember having that same thing, when I was growing up too. So cool!
DEFINATELY,...THE GREATEST, MOST INCREDIBLE SUBMARINE OF ALL TIME..."THE SUPER SUB"!!!!!!
Egad, my childhood just flashed before my eyes. Use to love that show.
Beautiful model! Well done.
A great job, friend.
I loved this tv serie in my years 60/70.
Congratulations.

from Brazil.
Absolutely stunning, beautiful representation, incredible detail, that even even Admiral Nelson would be jealous of😮😊🙏🙏🙏💯
Thank you so much, appreciate the comment!😁😁
Holy Smokes! That theme song has appeared in my mind every so often for 60 years! Now I know where it came from.

Fantastic model, very high level of craftsmanship 👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you very much! Appreciate your comment.
Beautiful model work! I like the detailed control room as seen through the front windows.

That is awesome 👏🏻
Got to love those Cadillac fins , what a great design
Without a doubt, the stern section bears a striking resemblance to my `61 Cadillac Coupe de Ville!
Not functional but too cool!

Very good show one of my top fave.. I still like watching today 👍✨👍
Me too, cheesy special effects but I loved the sub.
Imagine owning this AND the
NCC-1701 Star Ship Enterprise!
That... is... AWESOME!!
Great looking Seaview diorama Keith.👍
Music is the best!
Oh wow just this excellent
Spectacular work 👏 and live how it is displayed . Would be nice to see the mini sub in the scene also but overall great job !
Thanks so much. I did consider the mini sub but ultimately just went with the diving bell! It was fun to make.
Your skill is absolutely amazing, and inspiring. Thank you for sharing your work of beauty with us.
Thanks so much. Appreciate the compliment!
Very nice! I like that the ship and flying sub have actual interiors. :)
Most don’t realize the flying sub was originally built to operate with the fins underneath. They decided to flip it to fins on top it had a better look.
Excellent diorama! Thanks for sharing !!!
loved this show as a kid
That's great! Especially the lighting and sea floor base!
Thanks so much. I had fun making it.
“OUTSTANDING”!!!!!!
Beautiful work including the flying sub.
I had the voyage to the bottom of the sea play set when I was a kid. My mom took me to the original movie back in the mid 1960s. Great modeling.
WOULD BE SO NEAT IF THE UNITED STATES HAD THIS IN R E A L L I F E!!!
Nice job!🙂
Superb ❤
Yes the flying sub would fit in the nose section but there would be no room for people to walk around and look out of the windows.
Excellent rendition of the kit and great diorama.

Wow like WOW!!!!!! That is an awesome build! Was this scratch build??? Did you use a kit??
It’s a kit but I added the lights and additional photoetched parts in the interior. I did the stand/diorama from scratch. Glad you like it. Thanks!
The Flying Sub is a magnificent vehicle.
I love the flying Sub!
That is pretty cool :-). Love that you're able to see in through the windows.
I Still Have My Model Seaview Sub I Put Together In The Late 70's,,Early 80's,,🌊
Great job on the model,
Thanks so much. I never realized so many people would remember this TV show and like my model! 😁
Beautiful and inspiring Keith!
The actual sea view sold for 2.5 million
Built that same model but doesn't look half as good. Shows what someone who knows what they're doing can do.
Thanks so much
Maravilloso!! Gran serie
Very nice, impressive work!
This was the show during its time. I used to say as a little child, " Voyage to The Bottom of The Tube."
fantastic work and details 😎👍
outstanding
Thank you! 🤗
Excellent. Well done.
Wow, total AWESOMENESS! Great looking diorama. Do you make these yourself?

yup - The Death Ship! Saw it last night..
OMG, it even has an interior! Beautifully done! How big is it? Is it scratch-built? Based on a kit? Outstanding work!
It’s a kit and it’s about 39 inches long. I didn’t care for it just sitting on its original stand so I made the diorama instead. Thanks for the nice comment.
@@qakeith I didn't even mention the stand, which was also beautifully crafted. You can almost sense a sea monster lurking nearby.
Good Show, Nice Work.
Thank you. Appreciate the comment!

素晴らしい!
Guauu de lujo el submarino de viaje al fondo del mar
I had VttBotS lunch box that I took to school with me , everyone wanted to trade their Land of the GIANTS LUNCH BOX for mine but no way Hosea 😮😂
Waooooooooo
Is this the 350 scale, or the larger 135 scale kit? It looks amazing!
It’s the larger 39” version. Thanks for the comment!
nice,thanks for sharing
very nice thank you!

Ini film. Legenda masa kecilku di tahun 60 skarang usiaku sudah 64 Tahun. 🙏😂😂😁
Very nice indeed. Have you thought of a model in a fishtank though where you could have bubbles comming out of various areas?
That would be cool and I actually did try to think of a way to have bubbles coming out. Alas I stayed with this idea instead. Thanks for liking and watching.
Wow ! That is wonderful & amazing. How on earth did you make that & is it for sale...?
Thanks so much, I would like to keep it though, sorry. I love looking at it in my man cave! Just thought it up one night trying to get to sleep.
