Ahmet says the palace took away kosems innocence but what did he expect when he bought her into this palace where he knew she would have to fight every single female for survival. He knew that it hurt and betrayed her when he bought a new girl into his bed each night but he carried on. He promised her a name for her child and gave it to someone else. there was no betrayal from KOSEM or Hamdan yes they lied for good reason ...Ahmed ignore Pregnant KOSEM and exile Hamdan for 8 months is a big mistake but in the end the truth comes out and Ahmed personally collected his Mother and Safiye got punished by taking her wealth and monthly allowance...with KOSEM He is ful of love and admiration gave her value plus respect...what a crazy family all wanting the THRONE...

I see why they changed the orginal actress for Kosem. The orginal is prettier but when she makes sad faces she didn't look pretty and the way she pronounced words and formed shapes with her mouth was becoming annoying. I have seen this actress that took over as Kosem in another show. She did really well. I just wish they lightened her hair and didn't darken Safieye's and her daughters. The baby Mehmet is just darling!

The young princes were kept locked up in 'The Kafes', for years and years and then they would be taken out to be the sultan, and they had no idea how to rule. Cant blame the sultan for being hurt at the end Kosem did lie in order to get that letter and there are still secrets she has not shared with Ahmet so I get where he comes from by reacting the way that he did yall tripping in the comments, he really loves her lots. He feels betrayed by his family who has tried to kill him and those he love who have broken his trust. Kosem isnt all innocent either, the palace forced her to grow and she had to watch her father die by the hands of Safiye Sultana, which is why she had to turn into the woman she is now. Safiye Sultana knows Kosem will become a powerful Sultana if let loose and shes trying to hard to grab a hold of her, but when she does she slips right through her fingers and each time she does she becomes fiercer and stronger. Its really interesting to see the ups and downs of Kosem on her road to become Kosem Sultana.
Kosem is sultana already, the road she goes to now is the valide sultan road and that safiye tries to prevent, because if kosem becomes valide sultan then that signs the execution of safiye by kosem servants. Not just safiye, all her enemies.

Hmm, I don't know. He refused to let her return to her family and put his own wishes before hers, even when she clearly was having a horrible time. He also sleeps with other women and is obviously infatuated with one, so he's not just sleeping with them to have sons, but for pleasure. This clearly bothers her, because his soft spot for her is what's keeping her alive in that palace, but he is the one who gets angry at her for it. I know he's a Sultan and he has to act a certain way, but it does not seem like a very true or strong love that he has towards her.

I know I'm in the minority here but I can't help but to stan Safiye Sultan. She so smart, strategic and regal. Her looks are like a combination of The queen of the night + the evil queen from Snow White. We have to give it credit to the actress, because even though Safiye is a ruthless woman, she still doesn't come off as totally evil or uncaring.
Thank you ! Safiye Sultan is the most convincing character in this show. The actress play her role perfectly. In comparison Kösem acting seems so off and fake.

Considering, that living in that palace seems to corrupt basically everyone, no matter how sweet and innocent they started... it's hard to hate anyone, really.
I mean...not a single character in MC Hurrem got a happy ending, if I remember correctly. Everyone got killed, killed themselves or had to watch their loved ones die an untimely death. Or murdered them themselves.
Safiye reminds me of the 'Miranda Priestly' character in 'The Devil wears Prada, btw. Played by the equally gifted Merril Streep. Same 'elegant ice queen with a speck of goodheartedness' vibe.
I love Safiye Sultan too she's so intelligent , cunning and i admire how she literally crawled and walked through fire to get to where she is a women and she is one of those very few women that appear once every century as she stated, it's hard for me to hate such a powerful and regal woman.

He was the youngest Sultan to father a child in the Ottoman Empire. Around 1605 he fathered first child with Kosem - daughter Ayse Sultana at 15. And after that they had 4 sons and 3 more dautghers. She was regent to 2 Sultans and Valida Sultan to the third Sultan - Ibrahim I.
