Artist, true artist don't write for fame and fortune. But for the art. These are the ones I admire the most. J.D. Souther, Willis Alan Ramsey, Towns Van Zandt, and Guy Clark are some of the most (Not only admired) respected in the music industry. All write in their own exclusive vein. And in many homes (such as my own) They are not only "Songwriters" But truly artist. And we are blessed to know or know of them.
I LOVE this man. I have been in love with him since the early 70's. THE most talented songwriter and never give enough accolades for his beautiful, wonderful music.. It was only a couple of years ago I searched for JD Souther music on youtube, so glad to finally find it.
So much of my youth, life, memories wrapped up in the beautiful JD and his music and words. RIP and peaceful journey, dear JD. Was counting on seeing you this year. Gone too soon! #SublimeSouther 💔 🌠💔
I've always been fascinated by his ability to capture the essence of a mood with his music. He should be proud of all that he's accomplished in life so far. I'm sure there's much more music he'll reveal to us in due time.
Before JD's MySpace page got all fancy, there was a very poetic blog he wrote about his early days and his travels. That little essay, I could not find anymore. If someone knows better, please let me know. Very lucky to have seen JD both in San Diego and LA when he came around last December. Here is hoping he will tour these parts again, maybe with his band this time around.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. There so precious few uploads of JD Souther. I have followed him since the early 70s and love this song. He is one brilliant songwriter. How can we get some SHF music uploaded? There are none of their songs on youtube. Thank you again for this wonderful post.
I've never heard "Closing Time" (Key of Eb: 1Eb-4Ab-5Bb-6mCm) before. I thought at first this might be a copy of Semisonic's song of the same name. Fantastic song J.D. :)
RIP JD 😢 you had the most beautiful voice ever. My all time favorite ❤
