I love this video, thank you so much. My husband and I will retired in two more years and we are going to spend the winters in Mexico, we can’t wait. Stay safe, un abrazo 🙏😄 We live in Idaho close to Oregon by the way 😂
It is very beautiful there! I spent a summer in Morelia studying and it was lovely too, but a little cool for me. We took a day trip to Pátzcuaro but it has changed a great deal since then. I live in Cuernavaca, which is south of Mexico City. I love it and have been here since 2014. This July 4 was the ten year anniversary! 😊. I love the calmness of your videos and your dogs are beautiful.
I live in Kailua-Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii. Cuernavaca used to be a sort of "home town" for me, growing up as a kid. I've known it since the early 1960s, although I lived there as a baby. It's a long story, but my parents loved Mexico -- my dad, since the 1930s. I met and married my late wife in Cuernavaca and the place is dear to my heart. Shortly after our marriage in 1972, we drove to Morelia, Uruapan and Patzcuaro and I fell in love with the place. Wherever I live, I need to be around trees and green landscapes. In many cities in Mexico you don't really have a garden, and the country towns can be unsafe, or they are too far to town or a hospital. I consider Kailua-Kona the best place on earth, but I'm not sure I can afford it forever. I have been seriously been thinking about returning to Mexico to live. I have in-laws in Cuernavaca, but these videos of Patzcuaro are so calm and serene that I think Patzcuaro would be the best place for me to live. Right now I am still working a modest job at age 73 and I also collect Social Security around $1600 a month, so I'm comfortable with the combined income. The place where I live in Hawaii is an older neighborhood high up the mountain about 5 miles from town, where I have great views through the palm trees to the ocean, and there is some beautiful forest and coffee country. If I could have this kind of lifestyle in Patzcuaro and not have to work, I would be delighted. I'm completely fluent in Spanish, also. I will plan a visit next year.
Sounds like you have wonderful options in your future. I love the Big Island and it would be hard to leave it behind I'm sure. Did you see my video on my expenses here near Patzcuaro? It's pretty economical. Best of luck on your journey!
@@MoraMargaret , yes I did! What a difference! I could live there and have some surplus cash for emergencies, etc. I love the house you are staying in. I can see that it's high above the lake, but with lake views, and everything is so green!

Felt like was walking along with you throughout video... albeit flying every so often 😉 All so thoughtfully put together. I did wonder how your life compares today to when you were a working gal ☺️
I'm enjoying your videos so much, you explain Mexico so well and peacefully, it's calming to listen to. I was watching one from 4 months ago where Viggo was suffering from hot spots and I wanted to comment, I had a small dog with a similar problem though not really caused by humidity since I am in Northern California and it's not too bad here. But it got out of control on his back and not much was helping from the vet, and though the vet tested for fungus and it was negative, I still tried a fungal pet shampoo and spray anyhow, found at Walmart online and it was a miracle, cured his skin in a matter of days. It also worked just as well on my niece's big dog. Something to keep in mind if Viggo should have this problem again. Thank you for your enjoyable videos. Stay safe and well. Paula
I live on the Central Coast of California and there is a monarch butterfly grove in Pismo Beach. I didn't realize they travelled all the way to Mexico. I love Mexico and look so forward to seeing your videos! Thanks for sharing your adventures!

It's really so beautiful where you live. The flora is amazing. I love the hummers and butterflys and of course your 2 cute dogs. You have found a beautiful spot. Do you think you could live here long term?
I could, but I don't know if I will. I'm craving dry weather and the coast! But it's beautiful here year round, so it would be a good choice. There is so much more I'd like to see!
So nice to see you doing well! I've travelled some through Mexico. I have made my home in Playa del Carmen over the past ten years, with a break in there of almost two years, to experience Mexico City. You make very nice videos. I’m amazed with your content and inspiring videos ! Thank you so much ,I’ve spent much time in Mexico and am interested in rentals you mentioned in your video’s 🙏 I’m currently retired California Bay Area and would love to know more about them.
Thank you for sharing your amazing journey. I am gearing myself up to do something similar as you. I am of Mexican descent, American born, bilingual and have always felt at home when visiting Mx. I want to find the perfect location to live But first visit visiting/ spending time in various places. My only drawback is the driving. I wouldn’t want to do my own driving. Do you think it is possible to explore Mexico on my own without driving myself around? Sending Many blessing!
Yes, you can. Mexico has a really good bus system (I'm told, I've not used it) and taxis etc.. are more affordable. There are usually recommendations in FB groups about the area. In my area near Patzcuaro there are many little busses (combis) going everywhere. I hope you have a wonderful time!
Wow! Beautiful! Patzcuaro is on our list of places to visit on our discovery trip. Looking forward to the discovery of the beauty you have found. I have a couple of questions. Did you have a hard time finding parking? We are thinking about bringing a car. We are just wondering about car ownership in Mexico. Things like maintenance (oil changes, etc) and repairs.
In centro Patzcuaro I found a cheap and easy place I park, in a lot, because I don't see any readily available street parking when I'm there. I keep meaning to ask a local about any good spots to look. If I was without the dogs I would really consider moving into a Centro somewhere and giving up the car. There is great bus service here. But with the dogs I need the car to transport them with me. There are plenty of recommendations in local groups for mechanics and oil changers. If I had to do it over again I might think twice about bringing a Lexus. It's not a very familiar brand here.
@@MoraMargaret That makes sense. It's a Toyota RAV4 equivalent right? So, they should be able to work on it. I haven't joined any of the local groups yet. Will look into those when we're ready to go. Thanks again!
@@sammyreyes63 most all transportation bus and delivery vans are Mercedes in Mexico and we also have a lots of cars and trucks here y think more variety then in the USA
Your presentation is so beautiful! The photography and music, your choice of scenery I sincerely appreciate. Do use a drone for some of it.? I live in Playas de Tijuana, in Baja California.
Hi, Mora- Love your videos! Just curious- did you get a TIP for your car or did you nationalize the vehicle? Trying to figure out what's involved in taking a car to Mexico. Thanks!!!
Lovely videos. I’m on a tear going through your videos one after the next. Good stuff! I have questions: 1.) These places you visit are probably not safe, by any standards. The problematic aspect is there is a random, irrational aspect to the violence; the case of Cardinal Juan Jesús Posadas Ocampo comes to mind. Well, you’re a big girl, I trust your judgement! 2.) So when will you get to Chiapas? I think it’s the pick of the pick. There is so much to offer, although I find myself missing the places I discovered back in 1986. A lot has changed. Best of luck and thanks for sharing; it looks like fun!
Thank you. Number one didn't have a question ;) But safety and security is a concern for sure. As far as Chiapas goes, it's so far! I've never been there and I'm looking forward to it, but it is a long haul. After a couple of months here I'll be up for a long drive again. But first there's Hidalgo and Puebla! Thanks for your comment!
@@MoraMargaret You’re right about the first “question “! I think that’s because I never really know how to address this issue. You seem to be cautious, but there’s a lot of uncertainty about travel in Mexico. It’s a big topic. Hidalgo looks lovely. Pachuca and Ixmiquilpan come to mind. When you get to Puebla, make a visit to Cholula. It’s where you’ll find a Catholic church built on top of a pyramid. At the top, I recall seeing something like five volcanoes from the same vista. Great videos. I’m really enjoying your perspective.
It is very interesting that some people from the US find Mexico scary. I guess is you are scared of the unknown, because, think about it, how people around the world persive your country, when most of the news are about mass shootings, in movie theaters, concerts, church, highways, home, etc. Then you add the drug and gun culture, ufff. But we know that not all US is like that; the same applies to México. The cartels only exists because of the drug culture in your country, you are the ones that patronize them, and your government does nothing to stop the flow of weapons for the cartels. Have you ever asked yourself, why your government doesn't do anything to eliminate the drug culture?. @@cmleoj
@@luyzqint3760 Hello, I’ve been to 19 of the 32 states of Mexico during repeated visits, starting in 1984, and as recently as two months ago. I have family in Mexico. You’re free to assume whatever you like about me, but it’s not a fear of the unknown, it’s a constant reinforcing stream of information from the news media, from people living there, and from my own experiences. To objectively look at. the data about violent crime in Mexico and somehow compare it to the US is folly. You can look up the information to see that. The level of crime is an order of magnitude higher in Mexico. I’m surprised you consider the US isn’t doing anything about controlling the movement of drugs. Again, you could look up the data about drug interdiction and look at the budget for the border patrol, as well as state and local resources. It’s a massive effort. I recognize that the US is probably the largest consumer of drugs, but you seem to have quite a bias against the US, such as saying the drug problem only exists because of the US. You should consider the extent of drug use in Europe and other places, and many of those drugs go through Mexico. To conclude, I don’t buy what you’re saying. Reliable reporting verifies the extent of the problem of violence in Mexico. Even to the extent that the most dangerous place to be a journalist is, you guessed it, Mexico
So it is violent there? I wonder why Mexico can never get the cartel problem under control. I was told before that Querétaro is safer, but it has gotten so expensive. Someone like me can't buy there.
@@luperamos7307 ! Actually, I was being sarcastic. I know that the cartels operate throughout Mexico and there has been some conflict between the cartels and the authorities in the area. However, I have neither seen or been affected by any of this in the 11 years I have lived here. I felt more in danger in Seattle and parts of Texas where I have lived then I have here. The town I live in has been peaceful, other than the teachers going on strike every once in a while! The cartels fight amongst each other for control and when one of their bosses gets nabbed or killed, they fight the authorities. If you are unlucky enough to be in the wrong place, there is crossfire. The cartels seem to leave us regular folk alone and no one carries a gun here except the cartels and the police.
@@j.whisper2379 Oh, that's good to hear. There are always all these travel warnings for almost all of Mexico. My situation is that I can't afford to buy a home in the US as I had planned before covid. Home prices just spiralled too much out of reach for me, so I was thinking of either buying an apartment in a city or a house with a yard elsewhere. But prices in Mexico have gone up significantly as well. Morelia has grabbed my attention bc I heard how beautiful it is. But prices seem high when I look.
@@luperamos7307 ! Morelia is the Capitol City so the prices will be higher. Patzcuaro is only about 40 miles away and is 1,000 feet higher so it is a bit cooler. The prices are going up like everywhere else , but is lower than most places.
@@j.whisper2379 How could the prices in Mexico have gone up so much if average incomes appear to be around 10k? Do you have any recommendation what's a nice neighborhood in Morelia and how to find those places? Throughout much of Mexico it seems that the only people who have an interest of selling are Americans or Canadians who sell their properties they have bought years earlier. Many times you also see land being sold at incredible prices even though there is such an oversupply of it. I also looked into San Felipe bc it's closer and driving distance

Beautiful video ! There is Monarch butterfly sanctuary in Pacific Grove close to my home in California. I love where you live now. Much love ❤❤
Thank you! I didn't know there were any in California. Those amazing creatures get around :)
That view!!
I know!

Wow!
Mexico is a kind of Shangri- La. When you live in Mexico you age very slowly.
I hope so :)
Hi, Mora- Love your videos! Just curious- did you get a TIP for your car or did you nationalize the vehicle? Trying to figure out what's involved in taking a car to Mexico. Thanks!!!
TIP. It sounds complicated but it's not if your car is paid off.
Lovely videos. I’m on a tear going through your videos one after the next. Good stuff!
I have questions:
1.) These places you visit are probably not safe, by any standards.
Thanks for the tips!
@@cmleoj

Hello,
I’ve been to 19 of the 32 states of Mexico during repeated visits, starting in 1984, and as recently as two months ago.
Have you been enjoying the cuisine? Am sure there are some great dishes out there
For sure! I need to explore some of the good restaurants in Patzcuaro while I have the chance.
@@MoraMargaret keep me posted..would love to hear more about your experiences with all good food out there
I’m not sure if this has already been asked, but can you share the name of the lake from your view it’s very beautiful?
Mexico is so beautiful, so much history and culture, too bad about the cartels, gun violence and useless justice system.
I want to move to Mexico 🇲🇽 can you please help me find a affordable place I live on 1100 a month thanks and have a blessed night ❤😊❤
No, I'm sorry I can't. The only way I know how to do it is on your feet when you're here. I wish you the best of luck!
Much of the food is greasy!
It's not true.
Estado Michoacan! Did you see all the violence!
Do you give Immigration a new address every time you get a new rental?
No, the rule is 90 days. So when I was almost 90 days out from my original address I notified them, and now that I'm staying here a while I'm notifying them. I hope I'm doing it right!
