Oklahoma rodeo legend and soon-to-be ProRodeo Hall of Fame inductee Billy Etbauer reflects on his ranching background, great broncs and and life after being on the rodeo trail over 22 years.
I ran across Billy at the 2022 NFR in the Thomas and Mack Arena, walking through the crowd from the concessions area. I recognized him, nodded and said "Hey Billy". He smiled and asked "Hey, how ya doin'?" (of course, he doesn't know me from "Adam"). I smiled and nodded, not wanting to bother him, as he was headed back to his seat. Seemed to be a very down to earth, humble man. Getting to be more and more of a rarity in today's world, it seems. One of the all time best bronc riders, ever.
The man was and still is pure class. Still the most graceful bronc rider of all time. Hats off to you Billy!
