  • A beautiful tribute to bucking horses has proven to be a popular addition to RodeoHouston each night, even bringing some rodeogoers to tears. It starts with a single horse named Hostage that runs riderless into the spotlight.

I personally know many stock contractors that raise bucking bulls and broncs, they have plenty of pasture to graze on, visited regularly by vets, well taken care of, brushed at least once a week, and the relationship that a contractor has with his animals is amazing, if only is humans could live as good as this beautiful stock. These horses are damn sure not sent to slaughter, they live out there live breeding and in a pasture, they truly love what they do, these horses are among the most valuable of horses

Most, as in 99.9% of rodeo horses are sent off the slaughter when they don't buck good enough, they can't produce more colts. On a side note - you can't brush a wild horse. Go research slaughter houses and stop protecting evil doers.

They aren't starved, they aren't stalled in boxes and suffer from extreme bordom, yes they are bucked, but do yall see their coats? They are shiny and brilliant, that's a sign of great health, and they live better than most show horses! They live a natural horse life out in a pasture with their herd and r not abused at any respectable rodeo. They are extremely valuable and no stock contractor would want their horses injured! Horses do break down when they are performance horses, just as of they were show jumpers, barrel horses, or race horses. It's preventable but shit happens. These horses r treated like horse royalty so don't bullshit and say these horses r treated like dirt. That's what u see in movies giving rodeo a bad name. *I'm not responding to any hate because what I say is what I think*

I wonder...are those animals are excited to do the bucking thing, or are they just endure it because they're forced to do it? I never tought that, it's this hard to coope the fact, these animals actualy FEEL things, they can remember from joy to pain, have toughts...! :( Not just tools, supposed to endure the stress, people's need of adrenalin-rush! I hope one day you can learn to thinking outside that box you're locked yourself into.

I may have seen more "truth" than you. The majority of the people who own these horses (and other animals)make $$$ and do NOT ever keep and pay for a useless animal to live a beautiful dream life for the rest of its life... it's just a useless thing then, a waste of $$ to be disposed of asap. Don't kid yourself and lie to the people who don't know the truth.
I am not some PETA bleeding heart, I rode and showed my horses, and believe in that. But I'm not stupid. they’re people who are dedicated to fighting for horses who are bucking horses. alot of people feel horses are not supposed to be treated this way. including myself. i agree this rodeo is not nearly as bad as others, but bucking is dangerous for people and horses. and the way horses are treated after their bucking careers is sometimes horrid, which is why i can’t support it. one of the ways you can see the saddness in this video is when they flee from the mounted horseman, which means they feelthat they are a predator, or atleast someone who must be avoided. this should not be the case. horses are heard animals, they should be comfortable around that horse and rider, but because the horse has a rider, they flee. thats a red flag.

And they’re not bucked until they can no longer walk there retired as soon as the horse starts slowing down or even before that and yes sadly some ppl do take them to slaughter bit that’s in any equine industry there just as much abuse and slaughters in the English world you can’t pick a side and say once better then the other there’s always gonna be crappy ppl. Luckily retired broncs are rarely sent to slaughter and usually live out there life on the ranch. I’ve been to lots of rodeos and when the gate opens the horse will just stand there or just casually walk out. If the horse doesn’t wanna buck it won’t and it doesn’t get shocked or whipped idk where you guys got the shocking from😂
