That nut problem is rare. They should not have let that go out. Most of the quality control is superb with schecter. I would send it back for a replacement.
This channel is such a gem! Great review my dude and as always overall great video! Pleasure to watch! I went for a Reaper 7 string multiscale a few months back and it had a cracked fretboard. I was smart enough to get it from Thomann who apparently have the best return policy ever and now a brand new one is coming my way, hopefully without any qc issues this time. Wish you all the best and with the quality of the content you're so consistently releasing this channel should blow up in no time!
Very kind mate thank you 🤜 Thomann have been great historically but if you're in the UK Brexit has unfortunately made it a nightmare with customs fees etc. Reaper series looks great bang for buck, I may get one in to review soon. Let us know how your replacement is.
Thank you for not being one of those guys who only show balls to the wall distortion... I'm comparing these to the Apocalypse and I either find balls to the wall distortion or clean styles I would never use in metal. You hit the nail on the head along with one person on the Apocalypse. I think that sealed it.... After hearing this, despite the Apocalypse sounded great, I think I'm going with the silver mountain. The cleans seem to be about equal, but man, these seem to have a lot of low end punch that it seemed people had to doctor in on the Apocalypse
Find it super annoying the amount of Rock/Metal UA-camrs who say "You don't care about clean tones". Can't have dark without light.... Thanks for watching!
I own this guitar and straight away I noticed the exact same problems with the nut as you did. It still played well and there were no obvious nut-related problems so I thought I’d just live with it instead of going through the annoyance of the return process. Big Mistake on my end. Fast forward a little over a month and when I went to change the strings I found that literally every single inlay was cracked, with multiple cracks extending into the fretboard. I hadn’t really played the instrument that much and I always kept it in a case when not in use. Honestly I was similarly blown away by the horrible QC, especially given the price and Schecters reputation. Such a shame, because it does sound quite good IMO
That utterly sucks! Very unlike Schecter to be let out instruments of this poor quality. I suspect QC standards have slipped from how much pressure retailers are putting on suppliers this year.
I avoided watching this until after mine came in because I thought you were going to be negative the whole time. Have to say you proved me wrong, this was an excellent review and I'll be checking the nut on mine when I get home. aside from a small mostly unnoticeable blemish on the finish by the neck pickup, I haven't noticed anything wrong and I'm very happy. No fret buzz for me. If I don't come back and comment in a couple hours that means the nut on mine looked fine 👍
Aw man it's you! Dude your lamb of god angel of deth video made me purchase one, thank you for that video! You have like the only good showcase out of all the uploaders.
@@RP-dy5mu Woah! Wild. Thank you, I'll make newer videos with it for sure with a shure mic in front of the amp. It's one of my favorite Dean's. Killer guitar and it shouldn't disappoint.
I just experienced something like this with a used C-1 Apocalypse (rust grey, sort of a natural finish) that I bought online from Guitar Center. The nut was fine, but over half of the seam of the neck joint where the neck and body meet was not flush, and there was a significant white ridge that perfectly traced along the non-flush part of the seam. I suspect that this may have not been noticeable if it was a version with a more substantial finish. Anyway, I took it to a local guitar shop to see what they thought, and we couldn't really figure out if it was either from cycling through different temperatures/humidities over time (given that the neck and body wood is different), excess glue, or just a bad fit. I ended up returning it to GC for a refund, but I'm a little sad because it looked sick and I really liked the neck and frets.
We purchased the Schecter 6 string version and had neck issues within 5 days. We returned it yesterday. It was our 2nd Schecter, no problem with our C6 aurora burst.
This finish is similar to what you'd call a bowling ball finish. It's done by spreaying the base coat, (red here) then black on it after the red dries, before the black dries, you press plastic onto the wet paint in a way that makes the pattern you want, you let it set for a few, then take the plastic off removing most of the black over coat. Then finish work
How’s this guitar compared to ibanez rgd with fishman or jackson mdk with fishman? I just feel like sheckter’s missing out by not putting a set of fishman which is THE thing at the moment, or that’s just me. I’m highly considering getting this guitar tho
This is very much going to be down to personal taste my friend. You will find as many people who dislike Fishmans as people who do. I personally enjoy both active and passive pickups although mostly lean toward actives for my own music. I personally really like the added string tension multiscale provides, there are considerable benefits like more clarity in lower tunings, not having to use heavy gauge strings etc. But some people just don't get on with fanned frets which is understandable. For a multiscale guitar with Fishmans I would recommend looking at the Legator Ninja lineup. The Schecter Elites with Fishmans are fantastic (I owned a Black Fade Burst) but have considerably different neck profiles. If you have the option I would recommend travelling to a guitar store where you can get some of these models in your hands.
I have a Schecter C1 special that was a demo, but has a number of QC issues, nothing that affects how it plays but still. Luckily I bought it from sweetwater and they knocked some more off the price
that's the reason why I still go in to a guitar store and buy used so I can try a guitar out and know the story behind it and check the guitar out and look the guitar over before I purchase never bought a new guitar ever alway bought used
Yep always my preference too its just a shame guitar stores are becoming so rare here in the UK, my local PMT are brilliant but they never have more than one 7 String guitar in stock at any one time and thats what I play most!
Wish we had these models here in Germany. We only have the Omen Elite 7 MS, and only in cherry burst, while the pretty blue finish seems to be UK and US exclusive. Same with the C7 MS. I really want the C7 MS in this green Toxic Venom variant, or the one you have, but nope, not at Thomann
Build issues aside this is a great guitar. Shame the colour is hard to come by, I has to be a very difficult finish to achieve at mass production level and can only assume its some type of dipping process.
Evening 🌕. I ended up buying one and the blood moon did not disappoint. I paired it with a new walrus audio and this guitar worked 🩸 to impress me. It claimed victory as my fretboard ignited in flames 🔥. Playing this guitar is fun and it might as well cause an earthquake through the Bogner uberschall. Thanks for this demo that helped me make a decision.
I have reviewed Schecter models since and they have all been very well built. No brand is immune from having issues even at the upper price ranges but so far this remains the only truly poor example I've played from Schecter.
Sorry the build quality wasn’t there. How did you like the feel of that glossy neck? I think my Hellraiser had a similar neck and I ended up selling it
I didn't mind it tbh. If a gloss finish is done well I don't find it to be that much of a hinderance. Bare or Roasted Maple is my favourite for feel however.
I'm just gonna say this, I'd take it to a repair technician. I had to do that with my Edward's Alexi Laiho, that guitar looks really cool and you seemed to of liked how it sounded. For me a luthier would be a better option, but of course that's more money. Do what's right for you man, and what what makes you happy
Thanks mate if it only had one of the issues mentioned I would have kept it and asked for a partial refund. But ultimately if a product doesn't leave me feeling good about having spent the hard earned money then it goes back. Thanks for watching!
Schechter is amazing, they have dropped a bit in terms of quality, they were at the top of their game in 2006-08 Hellraiser and shedevil my two favorite guitars
Great and relaxing review! Been thinking of getting this guitar but the 8 string model. Despite the lack in build quality, would you still recommend this guitar ? Also out of a curious note, between this and the black & silver finish, which one would you say looks the best ? Cheers!
I would definitely still recommend a GOOD example of this guitar. The pickups are very unique an sound great for everything! I would always take the Blood Red personally :) Thanks for watching!

@@GuitarCinemaOfficial Nice, that's a gorgeous axe! I don't know the guitar but I did just check it out. I held my breath and bought a c-8... felt like a game of chance but in the end I got a very well built one. I'm happy with everything but the set up.
Get your money back and saved it for the SLS elite c-8 multiscale. I really wanted the 8 string version of this guitar but the pickups don't have the sound I'm looking for.
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial The 8 string ms SLS elite is a new guitar and I hope that they are a lot better than the silver mountain series. Can't wait to see a video on a Ibanez multiscale.
@@hahahadracula OoOOOoooo.... Nice. Although think they've made a mistake with that scale length. 27 inch on the bass side is a touch short for an 8 string IMO. 28 inch be far better especially if you're using alternate tunings. Looks sick though.
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial I was thinking the exact same about that guitar. only half an inch more would have made a difference. That being said, it's probably a good 8 string to start with.
I have a 6 string LTD multiscale M-1000. It has a 25.5 - 26.5 scale. I do not think you could pull this off, on a 7 string. I think you need at least an inch and a half in difference for 7 string. But the one inch difference on a 6 string, is hardly noticeable.
Man those pickups sound like they come with a TS-style boost pre-installed 😂 It's a shame though that this happened. I've also had really good experiences with modern Schecters, and coming to this after your E-II review I just hope that there isn't an emergence of more lemons in general
the nut is unacceptable but not surprised with the fret. The fret is more a problem of who you bought it from, normally store will do a minimal setup and fix "major" problems before selling or sending the guitar, to avoid returns like yours. Factory setups are very rarely ok even on high end instruments, this is why stores always do that setup before selling it.
Agreed. This was bought from GAK in the UK..... simple check would have spotted the issues so I'm guessing none was performed. At least they where ok about returning it.
Thanks for your review, of course i need to see it for myself, critical thinking im learning is an essentially necessary thing to learn in Everything and with Everyone, especially religion! What makes more sense to you, that We children probably come from an Eternal Mother Goddess or an Eternal Father God? So i have been thinking of buying this one but the buzzing is an unacceptable thing for any Guitar to do, it kills the main Tone on those Notes rite away. There is no way to get those Notes, Frequencies or Tones because its the buzz of two Metal objects instead. But while speaking of Metals, the Ferro, Para & Dia Magnetics all Matter when used on a Guitar. The Truss Rod needs to be FerroMagnetic, so when Electro ionic Activated by the kord, the Ferro uses its' Magnetism to attract the Physical Vibration Waves And Timbers, or Sound Waves into the Truss Rod, then they Ionically flow to the Magnets in the Pick Ups for Processing through the Amplifier. High Ferro Metals can be put in the Body multiple ways for this reason also. Then All other Metal parts Need to be ParaMagnetic, which activates with the Presence of FerroMagnetism or Magnets, then ionically flows to the Magnetic Strength, carrying Sound Waves with it. DiaMagnetic Metals active with the presence of Ferro or Magnetics and ionically flow away from the Magnetic strength. So they should not be used on a guitar because they send Sound Waves away from the Pick Up System. Most Guitar makers are Not aware of Basic Metals operations and Endowments. The Air also Vibrates in the shape of the Sound Waves being Generated or kreated, for about 2 or 3 seconds. That is why a single Note sounds better the second time it is played quick enough. The Air vibration can also be used for a secondary reverb effect or sound wave bouncing blend factor when using noise elimination Recording Techniques in Studio sessions. ParaMagnetic Antennas on the ends of a Guitar could also pick up this effect & ionically send to the Pick Ups on a Guitar.
Not a joke... I got this same guitar but in green i freaking returned 4.... 4 of them the week they came out. Played and felt SO AWESOME but every single one wasn't even B quality these were trash! @@GuitarCinemaOfficial I love my 6 string I need to get a 7 this year, I think the gtx models are very well priced, I just don't like the stock pickups on mine a little too muddy and soft

@@GuitarCinemaOfficial well, that‘s mew for sure. Never heard of anything like that. Usually they just drop the lowest string two half steps and call it a day. Or tune that thing down into oblivion.

Haha yep that seems a long time ago. I actually have a new LTD in for review at the moment and in choosing it I visited my local PMT. Got them to take it down off the wall for me and spent maybe 20mins in their amp booth playing it before deciding to take it. What a glorious experience honestly....
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial Indeed. Once… years ago, while amp shopping, I grabbed a cheap guitar off the wall so I wouldn’t have to be nervous about using while trying the amp. Ended up going home with the guitar. Now that’s a win of a higher order, as well. That’s what being there can do. Boom! Take care.
I bought an LTD M7 Baritone from the Black Metal series, after being amazed at an EC black metal series. Like, that EC is easily one of the very very best guitars I have ever played. But that M7 was a piece of absolute garbage. Complete shit. Sent it back. That's the Covid era build experience it seems, especially from some specific factories. LTD/Solar are the indo made ones that suffered the worst I think, being made in the World Music Indonesia factory specifically, sharing the exact same issues. The Korean made stuff, like those higher end Schecters, are often super well made but feel like they are made of stone or something. Dead and heavy and dense, like they used waterlogged wood or something. I hate it. Feels like plastic, and their satin finishes are the same as you get on Agile and Harley Benton and Legator guitars, that super super thick poly finish. No bueno.
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial oh man... Cracked and bone dry ebony fretboard, scratchy frets, off-centre pickup route, truss rod probably never got touched before shipping it off. It was so far from playsble it's not even funny, and once I managed to get the neck usable I realized how dreadful the frets were, and looking at those I noticed the fretboard. Yeah, I'd like to be the one reaponsible for my own cracked ebony thanks. Of which I have had none. Also that ebony was of terrible quality. The sad thing is my gold standard for ebony fretboards was an AMAZING Agile baritone I bought back when I was 19. Absolutely flawless guitar, and I sold it because I'm a fucking bonehead.

25.5 to 27" is my favourite MS for 7 String. Its whats on both my 7 String Legators and I really like it!
Jesus, those pups are nice!
Loved them!
Amazing production quality and interesting opinion, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching mate!
Man those pickups sound like they come with a TS-style boost pre-installed 😂 It's a shame though that this happened. I've also had really good experiences with modern Schecters, and coming to this after your E-II review I just hope that there isn't an emergence of more lemons in general
It's not been a great 18 months for quality standards in general tbh
the nut is unacceptable but not surprised with the fret.
NEED LEFT HANDED VERSION
Did you say g_ b b ? Interesting, how do you tune your 8?
Yep Gb and B B on the top three strings and Drop A on the bottom. Try it! it rocks!. I play a similar version of the same tuning on my 8.
Finish was bad binding was bad fretboard was trashed nuts were bad....I was so damn crushed... after the 4th return I asked for the 7 string jackson modern we both got, no joke. And that thing was flawless
Such a shame as I really liked the sound and feel of this guitar.
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial oh I was crushed, the amazing guitar I just couldn't handle the qc problems. I'll try again one day but ormsby is kind of the same thing made at world music so I'm happy with ormsby and more than happy with my km6 and km7 guitars
@@beautague9163 still need to try and Ormsby. There's a purple Dino Cazares model for sale not far from me but it's ££££.....
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial I love my 6 string I need to get a 7 this year, I think the gtx models are very well priced, I just don't like the stock pickups on mine a little too muddy and soft
Gorgeous guitar, sounds mean, excellent review, and great choice of distortion 🤘😎 Super disappointing about the quality control 😔
At least it sounded good right? Thanks for watching.
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial sounded great! Quality control can be fixed but all the ingredients to make an amazing playing and sounding guitar are there, just needs some fine tuning or at least a new QC tech. I'm going to get the Schecter Omen Elite 7 soon.
Did I hear that correctly? You have two B‘s on the top strings?
Yes mate tuning is below low to high, all my 7 strings and everything I write is in this tuning. I have two 13 gauge top strings normally. Watch my Line 6 Catalyst review to hear some more stuff written with it. Really interesting/different sound, give it a try!

@@GuitarCinemaOfficial well, that‘s mew for sure. Never heard of anything like that. Usually they just drop the lowest string two half steps and call it a day. Or tune that thing down into oblivion.
blade switch's have less issues.
True!
Should have got the 8 string. There are much better 7 strings for the money. But the 8 string is incredible.
Most of my issues with this guitar were purely build quality related.
Ordered a made in Japan ESP Eii Horizon 7 string from Japan, it will take months to get it, but I refuse to buy guitars near or above a grand which is a none US or Japan guitar. Its just marketing mark up. Its sucks about the fret and the nut. I would keep it, what a let down.
I think this guy just had a bit of bad luck. I have several Japanese and Korean guitars, and they are pretty much on par. Close enough that it's more an issue of luck rather than origin.
Subbed
mmmmm.... Covid replacement/new hire at the factory?
Friday afternoon job.
year 2020, sure thats the problem(covid)
Quite possibly!
I wouldnt send it back that is silly
Sent it back for a full refund, still a great guitar if you can find a good example!
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial I have an Ibanez Iron label 7 string with a babinga top. I couldn’t shim the neck and angle the neck correctly. I must’ve took the neck off at least 20 times and nothing worked. Then I had a crazy idea and took 400 grid sand paper to the heel of the neck and now the guitar plays as good as my RG752 prestige
Thanks so much. My Son and I were just looking at this one tonight… and will probably still get one, but any info is good info pre purchase… even if it’s kinda shitty.
Personally, I do think you got a rare lemon… but we will take your advice about the return policy factor. Although… I’ve not had trouble with returns with any of our larger sellers. Which is big!!! 🪄⚡️
Hey! Remember when we just went in a store and tried the thing out before buying?!
Ha ha! Yeah… you could still get home and find something you missed, but if you have a good list of things to check, you usual do much better that way. I mean… if my memory serves me well, that is. ✨
Thanks again, man!
Boom!
Take care.
@@BadChizzle Exactley what im talking about :)
So you wanted a guitar to show off and you thought, "Schecter."
No bueno.
What issues did you have with your M7 mate?
@@MFKitten You aren't a proper guitarist if you don't have at least one that you regret selling 😂😂. For me it was a Matt purple SC607B Stephen Carpenter signature model that I got for an absolute steal (I did a video on it at the time). Such a unique sounding/playing guitar but I couldn't resist flipping it for a profit at the time... 🙄
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial I have 2-3 that I really regret selling. Others I miss but I also know I had a damn good reason to sell. Two of the three were "I have no reason to have it but I love it". The third was sold to fund something better that turned out to just be objectively garbage.
@@MFKitten We're always chasing that next guitar that we vibe with the second we pick it up.... You know the kind.... The ones where riffs just seem to flow from our hands and our playing somehow sounds better. Ah... Back to guitar shopping I go.. 😂
Don't but anything made in 2020 or 2021. Covid quality.
It's a minefield mate. I've had some blinders built around that period but also sadly a lot of Lemons...
