It’s amazing to hear the beginnings of what became ‘I’ve always thought of you’

And it was to be another 2 years after that, before he released this tune: "I've only thought of you", as a track on his album "Only" in August 2000. I think that was his first ever specifically only Fingerstyle guitar album. Prior to that all of his albums had electric band tunes on them as well.
It's amazing to think that back then, he still did pub gigs in Sydney. Every time I saw him play, I always thought it was just a matter of time before he became an international artist touring the worlds great concert halls.
It was actually only just later that year that he left Sydney, Australia, to live and work overseas. And that was the last time Australians got to see him as a full time local artist. On a few subsequent Australian visits, he did tours of country town venues, but when he comes to Australia now, he mainly plays just capital cities.
