All these horror movie actors play evil scary guys on screen but they're such nice guys in real life. Candyman scared the shit out of me as a kid. Who'd of known what a down to earth friendly guy he is?
My respect for Tony Todd has multiplied tenfold after seeing this. Aside from being the great artist that he is, he's also very personable, knowledgeable and wise. Hats off to both of you for this great episode.
Unbelievable episode. Tony Todd is an absolute gem. I wish Adam would have asked him about his character Grange from the Crow. I would have loved to hear Tony talk his time working with Brandon Lee and what the atmosphere on the set of The Crow was like back in 1993.
This was great to re watch yrs later. Tugs at the heart hard. I will always love what Adam has done with our beloved horror and bringing us real fan service making our monsters and hero's more real than anything.
Been a fan since Platoon, but I think of him all the time from the Final Destination films and his twiter threads where he'd just spend the day or night posting YT vids of the best music. RIP Mr. Todd. 💔
Wow, I actually thought Tony was pulling your leg and was going to give you a 'gotcha'...but it was real and heartfelt. My heart goes out to you Tony...I'm sorry you had to experience that pain in your life.
Very touching. Really loved this, and respect Mr. Todd so much for sharing something so personal. Also, kudos to him for introducing Spanish Language Dracula to Adam.
I never got the chance to meet tony but Candyman was the ONLY film that truly terrified me as a kid.. Im 37 now and even more terrified that hes dead and could actually show up! lmao
My heart broke for Tony when i listened to this. I have a special needs brother who was my first best friend as a kid. If my parents sent him away, man, i dont know how id react. Even now as a 42 year old adult. And last week hearing of his passing i felt sad but also relieved that he was reunited with his brother. RIP Tony Todd thanks for the scares and the wisdom you shared with Adam and the rest of us😢
The problem here is that after Adam says "Candyman" in the mirror 5 times, Tony Todd is there! Seriously, his story was wrenching. If nothing else, I'm happy that Tony can bring a part of his brother's life with him to the work he does. The story is far from pretty, but there has to be a certain sense of peace that Tony can attain by having his moral conscience with him every time he does something new.
Tony Todd was without a doubt the coolest guy I ever met at our Calgary horror con. Funny, genuine and friendly for a guy they kind of ran ragged with a weekend of signing autographs and a screening of Night of the Living Dead plus a panel afterward. I came in late on Sunday and he was cheerful and laughed with me about something I said...super cool. I could talk to that dude for days man.
man, we all miss you tony. RIP. thank you as well adam for letting tony do his thing in your movies. i didn't grow up on the candyman so he will always be rev. zombie to me. thank you for showing him to me.
Geez man that was a great video. I can't believe I have never seen this kind of show until now. UA-cam get your shit together and quit showing makeup tutorials when solid gold like this gets hidden beneath the surface..Maybe that makes it kind of better? It is kind of nice finding these kind of videos out of nowhere
Whats great about this is it feels like Tony's Eulogy. Even so, it looks like it made Adam face some of his own demons, in fact, All of us who go through life wondering about the unknown. Tony sharing his story was sad but it holds a certain pathos to not fear death. RIP Tony.
I spoke with Mr. Todd on Instagram and what a courteous and kind and down to earth guy. He's a fellow Connecticut resident who has not forgotten his roots at all (I love it when people can be humble like that), he loves good food from all over the world, and he is a cats fan - on top of that, he was so humble, and an absolute gentleman. His wife and daughter are very blessed to have him. I can only imagine what an honour it would be to get to discuss theater and film with him and just hang out, have some cronuts, and a cup of tea. :)
Tony Todd is a good man. He used to scare me when I was 7 until I was 10-11 years old, awesome actor!! I feel bad for him, especially his lost of his brother 😔
@@GilbertSyndrome Did you even listen to what he said? Because I heard him say that he and his mother have pictures of him and his brother when he was little and that his brother was taken away when he was 3. Even though his brother was gone he kept him with him in his heart and in the form of an imaginary friend.
@@GilbertSyndrome If he is taking the piss, then he did an amazing job. Myself and most others don't see it though. So maybe you could enlighten us as to how you know it's a joke?
Not_really_here Most people are gullible and don't understand a lot of weird humour, so asking me to explain the joke is rather futile, but maybe you just think that Green's puppy face, the sad music waltzing in the background and Tony's somber tone were all evident of a genuine, heartfelt moment. Would you be interested in purchasing a bridge, by the way? Asking for a friend.
I've met Tony, it feels really crass to play sad music during this, like you're milking it. I would've immediately cut the camera out of respect and gave that man a hug.
tony is great when watching candy man he just comes off as such a classic villain . I feel like if it was released back in the 30s and 40s he would have been with the likes of Dracula and others .. its as if his voice rumbles the room he is in and man I have to say that story about his brother really got to me you never know what's happen to a person .
RIP Tony Todd. What a legend.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who immediately thought of this video when I heard. Absolute icon.
