- Subscribe: @TheBunduBallerina Three great ballerinas perform the Sugar Plum Fairy variation from The Nutcracker. The first one is Natalia Osipova, former Bolshoi Ballerina and now a Royal Ballet Principal, the 2nd is Marianela Nunez, Principal Dancer of the Royal Ballet & the last one is May Nagahisa, First Soloist of the Mariinsky Ballet.

They were all so different but all magical and beautiful! May is so secure and precise. You just feel so at ease because you know she has every turn and every hop en pointe under control. I love the way Nela plays with the music. Natalia displayed a really nice playfulness and joy.

There's an absolute ease to nela's dancing that makes it look incredibly effortless and ethereal. She literally looks like she's floating when she does this variation and it just fits the character of a fairy in a dream.
All three are amazing dancers I just think she has a lightness to her dancing that really shines here!

wowie to all of them! beautiful and magnificent in their own unique ways... natalia brings such a lightness and brightens the stage to her variation, marianela is so graceful like she is floating on a cloud above the kingdom of sweets, and may is so precise but also soft and gentle with the movements (not to mention that the tutu looks amazing on her!)! :3

Osipova is characteristically a - - beautiful - - but could also be - - a mischievous - - sugar plum fairy - - here❗ Tho - - always possessing a superb technique - - for sure❗ I like Núñez too - - and in this dance - - she's doing a movement that is - - a little different. Like - - at @ 3.29 Núñez jumps in the air - - briefly shaking her legs - - and when she lands - - she briskly turns around. She repeats this movement - - three times - - and finally finishing with her left supporting leg en pointe - - and her right working leg - - in attitude arabesque❗ Nagahisa also dances - - quite beautifully and precisely - - she has great movement of the arms ❗ Thanks @ BB for sharing.
The step Marianela does at 3:29 is a Gargouillade

In this terrible world, what a joy to have such beauty, and to be able to see so much of it on UA-cam! Although I shall always be a slave at Marianela’s feet, I do wish the RB would get rid of the white wig. Osipova magnificent, and who is this Nagahisa? She’s enchanting.
Thank you for your beautiful comment! May Nagahisa is a Japanese ballet prodigy who trained at the Princess Grace Academy in Monaco. At age 15, she was invited by the Mariinsky Ballet to perform the dance with the jug or Danse Manu in the Mariinsky's La Bayadere. She graduated at age 17, joined the Mariinsky Ballet and was promoted to 2nd Soloist at age 18. This year she was promoted to First Soloist. Agree, Kaptsova is my favorite Sugar Plum Fairy. Of this group, I prefer Osipova. Nunez looks very studied. Nagahisa is good but she has never been a favorite.
Nina Kaptsova makes you feel like a little girl falling in love with ballet for the first time. She's pure charm and delicacy as Sugarplum. Incomparable.

I’ve never seen the variatin before that Nunez did. Completely different coreo.
Osipova can do no wrong. But I prefer the Royal Ballet’s choreography. And I love Nunez, but my favorite sugarplum is Lauren Cuthbertson’s version with Royal Ballet.
All great performances but my usual gripe with Osipova is that she never seems to get the balance right for me ... I always see her as being either too frantic as in her Giselle ... or too stilted when she tries to add more subtle nuance as here with SPF. Nunez and Nagahisa have a much more lyrical and fluid style which I personally prefer
Понравилась Осипова, совершенно не понравилась Нуньес, ощущение, что она танцевала что-то другое, а наложили музыку из Щелкунчика, в которую она не попадала, да еще страшный парик. Но Нагахиса просто прелесть, я здесь необъективна, она мне везде нравится.
Я с вами полностью согласна! Нуньез совершенно по-другому танцевала, видимо, постановка другого балетмейстера..... Мне не понравилось! Осипова - одна из моих любимых балерин, так что великолепна, как всегда. С Мэй я не очень знакома, но мне понравился её танец.
Вы абсолютно правы. Но вина не ее даже. Это они возвращают поставленную хореографию. Оригинальная хореография только у последней, у японки. Наташа Острова переделать туры в право. А там в левую сторону. Я сама танцевала этот балет. Даже мне говорили, что Вайноне был левша, поэтому эти туры и поставил в лево. Ему на танцовщицы было наплевать. Тип о, вертитесь как хотите.
Много ошибок из-за переводчика автоматического. Наташа Осипова. Хореографию переделывают.
I liked all 3, but felt Nunez wasn't as fluid as the others. May very precise, Natalia is incredible! She's the best.
Osipova dances it the best in my opinion. Nunez is a great ballerina but she feels offbeat to me. I feel like she’s not even listening to the music. She’s just doing a bunch of random advanced ballerina moves 😂
Nunez confused me at first with the steps at the beginning also. She just started the sequence off it’s original timing to better fit in later in the middle section. I thought the video was off for a minute until I realized what she did. Different emotive feeling to do that in the beginning when it’s normally more walks En pointe.

I agree. Nunez is unique. I also find Nagahisa incredibly delicate & musical.
