This is the best demo of this feature. I've tried this several times now and the results have been dismal even with tracks much closer than your example. Showing an adjustment alternative gives me hope that it can be useful. Cubase needs to work on this a bit more.
Thank you so much. After using 10.5 i was doing manually in audio wrap and it took many days to be perfect, but this video has helped me alot. Love from India.
Thanks for the really clear tutorial, D. I’m about to edit a COVID19 choir recording, using a guide vocal I sent out. Hopefully the singers won’t be too far out of line! Best wishes, DWB
BTW, does which time base is employed in the session matter? Or WHERE the reference track begins in the session. I can't get it to work even with vocals sung in the session tempo, only 15 ms of at the most. It shifts things hundreds of ms further apart, with a nasty sound to boot. Steinberg support can[t figure it out, but had similar issues there. BTW, I forgot to mention you did a fine job on the video.
Great video !!!! I have a begineer's question whose answer maybe you can turn into a video, specially if others are in the same situation. I have an mp3 of isolated voice ( a singer singing a capella) and i have a midi file with the guitar accompaniment. I want to "warp" the midi so that it matches the audio. how do I do that in Cubase LE 10.5 ?
Hi. I don't think that LE has the functions to do that... I'll see if I can get LE running at some point and take a look, but my suspicion is that sort of manipulation is left for the 'bigger' versions of Cubase.
This is very cool. I hope this could be applied to the drum tracks as well. I was not impressed too much about this update, but now it starts to grow on me. I'm wondering if you have any tips and tricks on making audio detection and warping less time consuming. I may be not so bright or just unfortunate, but I've spent 8-10 hrs trying to figure out how this technology's working and aplying it. The task was to create a drum track to the acoustic guitar+vocal track with very unsteady rythm. I did it but not sure if this could be done better, faster more efficiently.
Hi. It -can- be applied to drum tracks, but the issue with that is a timing reference - off the top of my head I'd think you'd have some issues because each part of a multitrack drum track will inherently have a different rhythm in it, and this would make it unlikely to have a suitable reference in it. Perhaps Audio Alignment V2 will be able to collate the 'feel' of a drum part, and then allow that multitrack part to be aligned to a reference track, taking into account the different rhythm of each part of the kit - an interesting thought, for sure. I'll look into what you've suggested for a future video - I think all these tools have some useful techniques that can be applied to them.
@@musictechtuition Thank you. You're making some of the most helpful videos on Cubase around, looking forward to the new ones. And British narration wins over American :) Cheers.
I'm using cubase 10.5 pro with all the latest maintenance updates. The audio alignment panel is shown as greyed out all the time in the drop down menu. The clips I'm using is not in musical mode too. No positive response from any Steinberg forums as well. Anybody got any idea please help.
@@antony.emmatty Having just had a quick look, if Audio Alignment is greyed out all the time, then that's nothing to do with the audio in the project - even in an empty project I can summon the window. Have you tried trashing your preferences?
@@musictechtuition Looks like some unfortunate things happening at my end. I tried trashing preferences and even creating in a fresh cubase project too. the audio alignment panel always is greyed out :( www.steinberg.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=286&t=188705
First up, I would try starting Cubase with the default preferences - hold down Ctrl/Cmd-Shift-Alt as you start Cubase, and pick the option to disable program preferences (second option, temporary). See if that resurrects it as often it's issues with preferences files that cause things like this.
@@musictechtuition hey thanks for responding. I've figured it out. I had switched it on the "tools" that appear on that top bar thingy whatever it's called. So that made the Audio Alignment to be greyed out
Very good informations! Thanks. Could you give an explain about QUANTIZE (not Warp)? Because actually I have the Cubase 10 LE. Unfortunatelly, in Brazil, U$250,00 for the Cubase 10 Pro is very very expansive. And in Cubase Le there is not the Warp Function, but just Quantize. I will be very glad if you can teach this.
Doesn't work for me on CB 10.5, did exactly the same thing as prescribed here and it makes my 2nd track farther out of alignment.....and judging by the Cubase forum I'd say there are a LOT of other users that have the same problem.
Yes, any track that is audio can be processed using it. The results will depend on the audio and the algorithm's effect on it - sometimes you'll hear the processing working, other times you won't.
@@musictechtuition This may not make some folks happy, but If this, and other Pro features were available for hundreds less (Artists, etc), what would be the point of a Pro version?
Hmmm. So, the phasing doesn't sound so great. Especially if this were for song vocals. Has anyone compared this straight up with Synchro Arts Project to see if Cubase's version gives as effective of results? (I love that Cubase 10 includes such a feature. Just not immediately loving the sound for voice-over).
I used it for a project I was mixing for someone where it was pretty quick rapping, and it worked perfectly - really tightened up the timing of his takes, and saved me literally HOURS of work on just that one project. Needed almost zero manual alteration.

Very well explained in the video, this helps many users when working with Cubase (Pro) 😉.

In past versions of Cubase you had the option to create a grid from hitpoints which allowed you to then align anything to that grid.. same thing?

Hi Jacek. This is only included in Cubase Pro edition.

Does WaveLab has simular function to align multi-tracks Montage automatically

No, this was introduced with Cubase 10, so it's on the Pro versions of Cubase from 10 upwards.

Doesn't work at all. It shifts the reference track forward, or just just mis-analyzes the reference. I'm Mac OS High Sierra.
Wow .. this will save hours on Songs with 6 guitar tracks 😬
Yes! The week I got it, I had a rap track to work on, which had 40+ double-tracks. What would have taken me hours took about 10 minutes in total.
Cool, that's what VocALign does, which cost me $400.
I don't think that it works good for the complex vocals
