Yes. Devon Witherspoon was the best player on defense last year with elite potential and Murphy I believe can be just as good as Carter if not better due to his motor being way higher imo

Awesome analysis. And it is worth noting that some of the players on the Chargers offensive line were starters, like #5 pick Joe Alt. It wasn't all backups.
As long as Murphy stays healthy, I'm predicting that the Seahawks will finish the season with a top 10 scoring defense.

The Seahawks played a great game. Seeing byron murphy causing havoc was awesome. But I want to temper my excitement because it just one game and it preseason plus the most of the chargers starter didn't play . It reminded me of the 2019 niners. Seattle depth is like San fran of that year. A couple thing that I can for sure say that it isn't the pete carroll seattle seahawks. They were focus, had attention to detail and i believe I didn't see one miss tackle defensively.
Offensively grubb made sure the defense was off balanced. He didn't forget the running game and kept running the ball regardless of how many yards they got. Yeah the offense was vanilla but I felt the offense had a different gear but RG was holding his cards close to the vest. The fact that geno, dk. K9, Lockett, cross didn't play is one thing. Based off of what I saw I think the niners and rams better hope seattle has growing pains with the schemes that MM and RG employ. Because seattle is dangerous and now seattle is focusing on the line of scrimmage. Putting connor Williams at center changes seattle from if everything goes right they are a contender to a dark horse contender. I'm just eager how the titans scrimmage goes and the game. I just have to say that teams will regret passing Murphy in a few years. Because he has DPOY candidate talent.

Great time to be a hawks fan. MM is the best thing that could have happened to this orginazation. Respect Pete but glad they didn't miss out on Mike. Bottom of the roster LBs playing like multi year starters, amazing what some good/hard coaching can do to a team.
This was an interesting showing from the hawks, and jims press conference gave me some smiles for sure
This will help Jarran Reed as well. He will be sharper if he keeps his snaps less than 35. We will get much better effort out of him and he will be fresher in games and later in the season.
Just going by history but usually when a rookie dominates preseason, they typically develop into stars.

Now we see why the Rams were so pissed they didn’t get him. They lose AD the same year they could have landed AD 2.0 lol
I don’t quite see anything elite there yet, but I do see a strong prospect with some range and good hustle, and most of the time that’s good enough to be a quality lineman. He’s definitely going to get some sacks and there will be a few games where he may put one down on the teams with less skilled guards and center combos. I do worry still about him holding up in double teams against better lines if that’s how we choose to use him, I think that may be Leonard Williams better spot, but I’m guessing we’re just experimenting and seeing what sticks with him right now and he did well. No negative snaps in that set…interesting our ends still struggle to maintain the edge when they know better.
I completely disagree if you watch the game you will see he had to be double team countless times they don't just do that for strong prospects 🤡
@@Clark-shoots-bricks I watched the game and I watched this analysis...yes he was doubled alot and held up, got some pressures. Great that's what a nose tackle (if we choose to play him there) is expected and needs to do. I think putting a bigger guy there who is less of a pass rush threat, probably Leonard Williams, and getting him 1-on-1 looks is a better use of his talents. Top lines will be able to handle an undersized NT, it happens all over the NFL...but we're just seeing what he can do right now and getting him reps. Great. Alot of hawks fans are blinded by over-optimism, I am not.

Maybe not so relevant at this point but if Mike Macdonald can put together a top ten defense and make a play off push in his first year it’s just going to further solidify my belief that we could have had 1-2 more nfc title appearances if Pete wasn’t our coach

Most of us knew Murphy was one of the best players in the draft. It's clear the man is going to be a huge problem for the opposing offense and he's not even scratched the surface yet.

The play that's bounced outside he was there to fill the gap. That was on Boye not trusting him, but he was there - the guy just bounced it out and away from him. He didn't do anything in these clips necessarily, but was the highest graded player on the defense by PFF, and I didn't see him really making any major mistakes.

Interesting defense scheme that I have no idea how it works. Since this is a copy cat league. How long will it take for the rest of the league to catch on and try to copy.
I'm still learning it too. Copy cat could be an issue down the road, although we got one of the originals in how he runs it.
Byron is not on jalens level...jalen was a rookie and was double teamed at a unprecedented level for a rookie..also came in 2nd place for DPOY..CHECK HIS STATS..ARRON DONALD TYPE PLAYER..but witherspoon is and still is a CB i wished the eagles drafted
I think Jalen is the better pure talent, but that you can make a strong argument their talent and upside is closer than further apart. I think they'll both end up great players.
