    My Amaran 200x arrived today.
1 Mine doesn't make that queeking noise when tighting it.
2 The button for the bohans mount is easily clicked and feels durable. Better than that flimsy looking plastic button on the godox.
3 Tha Amaran gives the SSI (Tungsten) value which is 86. AFAIK this value also has to do with the color rendering of the light.
I have not seen this value in the Godox spec sheet. I might have overlooked this. I did look in the Godox manual for this.
There might be a reason they are not mentioning this and Amaran is.
The app and the lights are working very stable. The noise of the lamp was acceptable to, as it was staying on one level.
So far I am very happy with it.

We have been using the Godox VL 150 and 300 units the past few years as they can run on 110v or on an external battery. We absolutely love the units. I ordered 4 of these GODOX units on your recommendation to use in the studio to free up th VL’s for Location work. Always appreciate your reviews.

Thanks! My brother recently bought the Amaran 200x and I was going to buy one as well, but now I'll buy this one and we can use both and compare. :)

Hi, like ever a great video 😃, you told that you can power the light from an external battery 48v, but I miss the kind of connectors, is a classic xlr power? Did you test it with external battery?

I think the rubber band thingy is so you can wrap the power cord around the power supply and secure the cord and power supply together for storage. Personally, I'd use the band to attach the power supply to the light stand to relieve stress on the cable at the power supply - especially if the cord isn't long enough for the power supply to lay on the floor.

I think that band is to hang the ac adapter from the lighting mount somehow- never figured it out- but since it uses a standard XLR cable I just bought a long one of those (very cheap) so the adapter can stay safely on the ground!

If you had it in a softbox like that, and you wanted to use these for photography purposes, at full power at a decent (normal) distance from subject of a few feet, what would your ISO be at say 1/200th of a second f/2.8 or f/4
I'm trying to get a sense for if they are powerful enough in a modifier for photography purposes

I think something might be wrong with your Amaran. lol I have the Amaran 200x the release lock is easy and soft to press also my handle is smooth with out any squeaking noises. I used mine a fair but so not sure what is going on there. I also use it with the Godox 140cm top octagon soft box without problem.

Asking if you can do a new video on fujifilm xt4 camera lighting. Your last one is a couple years old and more for the xt3 I think. Or is the older video still current with times?

Thx for this nice and very useful video !! one thing i did not quite understand is how you get the candle or fireplace effect.... you need something else ? may i ask for your opinion ? would you recomend that light for my use : i do mainly acros jpeg portraits pics with a fuji xt30 i like to have little lights like candle effects etc etc and i need an easy to use and carry equipement. Only as an amateur, nothing professional. Many thanks !!

If it hangs high, then the problem is to enable (?)
    if Godox RC-A6 is not

Dazed but not confused! Is this better than a strobe for stills photography?

    • @pal2tech
      @pal2tech  2 роки тому +1

For stills, I'd go with strobe in many cases. Smaller, brighter, more versatile.

Not better, but different. I’ve been shooting with strobes for over a dozen years, and I am now sometimes using constant lights.

I'm very curious about the standard pronounication of "Godox". According to the Chinese name of the brand, it should be "God + Ox" (神牛), so I'm always not sure if I should pronounce it as /gɒdɒks/ or /gəʊdɒks/. Anyway, Great review!

According to Gerald Undone they prefer the Western pronunciation of Go-dox as of the release of the VL series lights

@@greyspaniardI seriously think they’re just going with the flow, or giving in to the uninformed consensus.

I love how these lights claim they can be adjusted from 0% to 100%, yet 1% is blindingly bright, and it only goes brighter. It appears to ACTUALLY go from 0% light output at 0%, to 60% output at 1%, then you have 99% of your dial to adjust the remaining 40% of brightness. Very frustrating and imo false advertising on their part.
