I love how Ben seems so happy playing with his friends, in front of a friendly audience. It's so different from now. I feel deeply how success has darkened his spirits. I wish he could find this joy back. This is a true gem.
I like the darker stuff. I thought the Burgh EP and the second full album were perfect, then it went downhill. He’s not so young anymore, like the other commenter said, and his music will change over time, I just hope it comes back around. I prefer it now without the teenie-boppers following him around, this isn’t a Taylor Swift scene.
I love Ben. But can I also just mention how cool that girl is also? She sings and plays the cello thing and bass and is just always having a great time.
I've never been to see a Ben Howard concert cos I found his just as he was finishing touring with Every Kingdom but man would I love to go to one! I'm pretty sure if I do then I'll just be in a constant state of either crying with joy, crying with sadness or smiling uncontrollably

@@lucasmacnair8254 Granted I haven't heard the newer records all the way through...I've tried..but his newer stuff 2014 on just sounds dower lilting vocals with a lot of delay pedals. It doesn't seem like there's been a happy song like Old Pine for a long time. Its hard when you liked him as the earthy warm acoustic guy and he seemed to have dropped that entirely. I found stuff I enjoy but are there gems that deserve more due I missed? Always gotta ask. lol

He has to work at his show. I was pretty stoked about my father hearing my idol live. Man was I disappointed when he said that he found it boring and dull. But he was right, not saying that I'm not loving his new album. But when it comes to his live performances... His Every Kingdom shows were AMAZING.
+Dyck Cediño there might be a power struggle between him and his management or deal people... who knows. somedays i don't even feel like leaving the house never mind entertaining a fucking crowd. i know it's his job and all but, i just think he does better when the mood is right. it's like sex. you can fuck every night, and even that gets worse, but making love is only every so often- that's music, never mind performing.

Still one of the best live versions for me. 05:10 onward, 05:50 onward, and 06:15 onward is just an escalation of joy.
