They should call it maintenance nightmare instead of Can AM. Seeing you work on it makes me understand how you can get so dirty working in the garage. Like those positive thoughts - would be nice if we could quickly get rid of the negative ones.
Wow ... Absolutely love the new video without the constant music ... I can hear what you're saying ! I know what you mean about the atvs being a bear to work on ... I run into the same thing with some of the garden tractors I rebuild ... I love doing the projects , but every time I start one , I know I'm gonna spend a lot of time laying on the floor ... I'll be 68 and it's easy to get down there , but not so easy getting back up , L O L ... I've had lifts for them in the past , but seems like they just don't always work out that well ... Anyway another good vid ... Jerry
How's she goin'? I'm glad you liked the vid with less music!! I am to please, as they say!!! The audio in this video was pretty low in spots so I 'pumped up the volume' in places. Glad you were able to hear it good. I hear ya about getting down on the floor. We need to do it make a list of the things we can do while we're down there eh, to make the trip worth while!!! LOL Thanks for tuning in and take care!!
Hi Mike! I could deal with the air filter maintenance up top there, but boy that battery placement is something else! The battery on my RV is in a sliding tray, but they put the cables on so short that it won't slide out for service. I think they installed the battery before the coach floor and didn't think about the consumer! I'm not sure how you're going to be able to replace that battery without removing the body. I'm glad you got the stickers! My boy was SO exciting when he saw you put it up to the camera. You made our day as usual! Thanks for sharing and for the shout-out! - David
Hello there David!!! Glad tp hear your son was excited. What's his name so I can talk to him in a video some time!!! The battery on the Can Am is not easy to change. It almost doesn't fit where it is. It's strange because once you have the battery in there it fits pretty good. Just real hard to get at the terminals and super tricky getting it in that spot. It's really hard to get jumper cables on it too. Thanks of watching and I'm pretty happy to have your sticker on my garage door!!! Take care!!!
Hi Mike, great video and good work with the very important maintenance work on your bike. I’ve also encountered the tight working space on these machines. Cheers
How's she goin'? Isn't that something eh. Man, in order to work on these machines you need tiny little hands and be able to see around corners, and have the patience of Job. I have a manual for this ATV that comes from Can Am and they show the procedures and even in the manual, it is very tight quarters for work, so it's not just us!!! LOL Thanks for the visit ad the comments. Take care!!!
Good day eh!!! I like doing the maintenance and I have the time to do it now too, which is a plus for me. But this machine is some hard to work on. Hard to get to what you need to get too. LOL Oh well. Thanks for the watch and for commenting. Take care!!!
Good day eh!! Yes there is a lot of bike under the plastic and every last piece of it is hard to reach, see or work on!! LOL Other than that the bike's a champ!!! LOL Thanks for the visit and comment. Take care!!!
Good evening Grampie. I could not agree more. They don't make it easy to maintain anything. And on mine, the screen constantly plays a "Maintenance Required" message on the screen and they told me there is no way to clear the message unless it is taken into a dealer. LOL. Thanks for sharing - great to see she is ship-shape for winter riding!
Hello there GP!!! Yes, GP, mine has the same message. You know when ATV'ers get together there is always bragging rights going on eh. Well I talk up the Can Am about how great it is and when they look at the screen the first thing they see is 'Maintenance Required'. I don't stand much of a chance winning the 'best bike' arguments after that!!! LOL Thanks for the watch GP and take care!!!
How's she goin'? I agree with you on that Logan. Lots of tight spaces and you have to be able to see around corners lots of times too!! A skill I'm still working on!!! LOL Thanks for the watch and take care!!
Oh boy you need a decoder pen to get the combination to remove the air cleaner 😆! I do like the fact that it’s located up high. I’ve been in water up near the seat on my Honda before. David has a really nice channel and seems to be a great guy! Boy oh that battery compartment doesn’t leave a guy much working room! Great job!
How's she goin'? Yes Ben having the air cleaner box high is a plus, but I wouldn't want to be that deep in water!! LOL I changed the battery a year ago and it was a struggle for sure to get it out. Once it's in place it fits there pretty good, but it's almost impossible to get at the terminals. Jump starting it is just about impossible!!! I appreciate you watching and commenting.
You weren't joking, they sure don't make it easy to work on. I bet there's a lot of guys out there who aren't as diligent about doing the maintenance when it's such a pain in the butt. Good job Mike.
How's she goin'? I bet that's true Bruce. That's what happens eh, when the maintenance is hard to do, it gets skipped. Not a good thing. I'm lucky I have the time to do this work now. Thanks for the watch and take care!!!
How's she goin'? It's not easy to work on this Can Am but I really like the bike. It's comfy to drive and the power steering is pretty nice too. Thanks for dropping by and watching and for commenting too. Take 'er easy!!!
Hey Mike! Geez I think I would have bought a new air filter before going through all that to get it out, clean it and have to take it out again to replace it down the road 😂. I guess that’s the adventure of the whole thing. Always smart to do preventative maintenance. Thanks brother! Have a great weekend!
How's she goin'? When I started to do this maintenance I thought I had everything I needed. I change the air cleaner about every second time doing the maintenance and I do the maintenance about once a year. I didn't expect the air cleaner to be this dirty. I did order another one so I'll be changing it out soon. But I need to rest a bit before tackling this again!!! LOL Thanks a lot for the visit brother and hang in there eh!!!
My Kawasaki Bayou is the same way, difficult to work on but I recall the battery and air cleaner being in easier places. It needs a good going-over, after my son and son-in-law both borrowed it! Guess I'll have to find the time to work on it, or dust my wallet off and send it out. Thanks for sharing, Mike. - Rick
How's she goin'? I had a 94 Honda Foreman 400. That was very easy to work on. Easy to get to the various parts and pieces. This Can Am is a challenge even to get at the spark plugs!!! But I think the Can Am is a good machine, just hard to work on. I'm lucky that I have the time now to do the maintenance or else I'm afraid it would get bypassed!!! :-( Thanks for tuning in and take care!!!
What a bear to work on. Can Ams are great machines. There are a lot of Can Am side by sides in my area. Everyone seems to be real happy with them. Judging by the looks of the size of that machine, I doubt that it would fit through my cattle way underpass here on my farm.
Hello there Gary!!! I really like the Can Am. It's fun to drive and has a smooth ride and the power steering is a big plus too. But it sure is a test when it comes time to work on it!!! LOL Not too sure how wide the Can Am is but I know it was wider than the Honda Foreman and the Honda was just 4 feet. Thanks for watching an commenting. Take 'er easy!!!
How's she goin'? Yes for sure your knuckles take a beating!!! LOL A nice machine otherwise though. A comfy ride on the trail and the power steering is pretty nice. Thanks for the visit Marc and take care!!!
Hey Mike I do believe they make some things hard to work on purpose. Just so you have to take it somewhere to have them fix it. Another great sticker, we'll have to check him out. Looks like a great machine, but a bit of a chore to work on. Take care
How's she goin'? The Can Am is a good ATV. Comfortable to ride and the power steering is some nice I have to say, but they dropped the ball when it comes to designing it to be worked on. LOL Thanks for dropping by John and take care!!!
Hello Grampie. They are good machines but a pain to work on. It's a good thing that you are more than handy to work on it. I would hate to see what the dealer charges for a service. As usual great job!!!
How's she goin'? Some may say it's hard to work on so take it to the dealer. But it's hard for them too. They may know some shortcuts, but it still takes time to get to what you want to work on and at a dealer, time is money, my money!!! LOL Thanks for tuning in and take care!!!
How's she goin'? You know I have welded with my battery before ad I didn't like it!! So I was being careful not to do any welding here too. LOL Sticker time is nice aright!! I 'm getting a pretty impressive collection of great stickers from great channels, including yours!!! Thanks for dropping by and commenting. Take care!!!
Good day eh!!! It sure does try your patience and makes you get into some tiny spots with the tools but the Can Am is a nice machine for sure. The biggest thing about the maintenance being hard to do is that some checks may be skipped and that never leads to a good spot!!! I appreciate you watching and commenting. Hoss. Take care!!!
You sure make sure you never miss the smallest of things. These designers sure don't have us in mind to do these maintenance issues eh. Can the foam outer be rinsed out with diesel fuel ? I have used it before and just squeegeed out sure catches the fine dust that fouls many paper filters. Have you let Bombardier know your distain for what sure should be a simple maintenance issue sucks ? I can't imagine trying to do these what should be simple maintenance at -10 or colder. There would be broken plastic everywhere. PS, my cancer is back so I go back on the table on Dec 29 or sooner I hope.
Awe Dean that is not the news a guy wants to get, this time of year especially. I am saddened by this and will certainly say some very special prayers for you my Friend. The journey with cancer can be soul searching as I'm sure you know, but be comforted that people who care about you a lot are praying, thinking and concerned for your health. I lost my mom and a sister to cancer, and Nannie's sister just lost her husband in the early fall. It hurts and you're a strong person to stand up to it and face it the way you do. Stay strong Dean. God love you buddy. Take care ...
@@GrampiesWorkshop You shine like the brightest light out there my friend. Why this shit continues to happen this time of year is beyond me old friend.
Hi Mike, I agree that the bombardier bikes are difficult to work on. Dad’s got a 2000 Traxter it’s a truck of a bike but definitely has claws when it comes to working on it. Thumbs up bud! 🌴🍻
How's she goin'? I have to say I like the Can Am, but when it comes to working on it, it seems everything is tucked away in some hard to get at spot. The problem with that is, you tend to skip the maintenance and that's never good. Thanks for tuning in. I haven't seen a Traxter around here for along while. Take care!!!
Nice video Grampie, over the years I had enough of the ATVs. Now I steer them away from me, too much headache and I'm not out in my shop for headaches. :)
How's she goin'? I hear ya. That's the danger of the maintenance being troublesome to get done. You end up not doing it and that is the start of a slippery slope eh!!! This is a nice machine though and do I have the time now, so I mottle through and get the work done as best I can!! Nice to see you on the channel. Come back often!!! Take care!!!
How's she goin'? It's a challenge for sure, but I'm lucky that I have the time now to take the time as they say!! It still takes the shine off doing the work though. Thanks for the visit and take care!!
Lots of jobs like that in our previous maintenance work life eh Mike. Be thankful it’s not a Honda Goldwing, watched a fella on here change his air filter on his . Pretty much had to take the top part of his bike apart before he finally reached the filter.
Hello there Clem!!! How are you now buddy!!! I saw you were starting a wood carving. That's some nice and you should post on here too. It's a great hobby!! I guess with the ATV's and motorcycles these days it's all about style and looks and the body parts need to make the machine look sleek. By doing that it also makes the machine hard to work on. When I did the valves on the Can Am a year ago, it would have been easier to take the engine out of the ATV I'm sure. Great to see your comment here Clem. Take care!!!
I think that when the air filter plugs up you're supposed to trade in the ATV for a new one. That's a tough spot to get at! For the battery terminal tightening, it looks like there's plenty of slack in the cables so maybe unhook the hold down and partially slide the battery out??? What am I thinking? Just trade the thing in!! haha I would have got in to see your video sooner, Mike, but I've been waiting down at the mailbox every day 'till dark. I'm expecting a delicious package to arrive any time now. Have a good one!
How's she goin'? To get to the air cleaner is a journey for sure. There is extra cable for the battery, but the raised edges on the battery shelf make it so that the battery just barely fits when you lift it up to slide it out. I changed the battery about a year ago and it was a gong show getting it out!!! I can't understand why the pizza hasn't arrived. I guess with all the flooding out there it must have been delayed. Here's a tracking number: 1289 3547 6532 4AJY59 LB257331. Maybe you could check it. Keep waiting!!! Take care and thanks for tuning in!!!
Hi Mike. Sometimes I would like to get engineers in a shop for 10 minutes and say " take this battery out " or whatever the problem is and tell them to try it. Have a great day my friend
How's she goin'? I'm sure the engineers only design to save manufacturing costs, but in the mean time the equipment is a real challenge to work on. I adjusted the valves a year or so ago and it would have been easier to take the engine out to get at them them!!! You can't say anything bad about how reliable the Can Am is though. Thanks for the watch and take care!!!
Awesome Grampie👍《☆》Sometimes I leave the bodywork off SUZI after maintenance. It's just for looks & aerodynamics. Engine runs cooler without it. I'd love to have an ATV when I get a place to ride it. Pale horse has an Apocalyptic sound to it🖖🤓🏈
Hey there Bdog!!! Leaving the body panels off would help but still to get at the parts and pieces, well you need small hands is about all I can say!!! LOL Pale Horse does sound good doesn't it!!! Thanks for watching and take care!!!
I thought getting to some parts of our garden tractors was difficult but they are easy compared to your ATV. That looks like a really daft place to put a battery. After all that struggling it must be good to have the job done
Hello there Joseph!!! When you think about it, an ATV is meant for off road travels. For me, around here, that means mud holes, brooks and rough terrain. The battery is sitting out in the open and gets very dirty. Other ATV's I've seen have the battery enclosed somewhere and it's much easier to access. The Can Am is a nice machine though, just some maintenance issues like this make you scratch your head a bit!!! Thanks for the watch and take care!!!
Hello Mike. Canaam is not the only one that makes maintenance a pain. I had a polaris 2up before I got my tractor. The battery on that machine was under the front behind the wheel. Worst place ever.
How's she goin'? I think it's a thing with the manufacturer's. They want the machines to be stylish and sleek looking. So they have body panels that need to be removed in order to reach anything. I had a 97 Honda Foreman and it was not stylish in the least, but easy to work on!!! Thanks a lot for the comment Alain. I hope you have a nice week!!!
It will come in handy when there is snow on the ground.do you still go up to the camp I still like that winch he had on the tractor used to pull the building?
Hello there Danny!!! We haven't been to the camp since that video Danny!! Due to Covid we thought we should hold off. Maybe this winter we'll get back out there and do some wood. That was a good trip and that winch and tractor are some powerful!!! LOL Thanks for the visit and take 'er easy!!!
Just wait until you pick up a side by side wheeler. A simple oil change can involve removing both seats the center console plastics ect and still a tight squeeze. ITS RIDICULOUS!!! haha But they sure are nice to have!
How's she goin'? I hear ya. I can only imagine how hard they would be to work on. It seems the newer the vehicle or machine the harder they are to work on. Just have to look under the hood of your car to remind you of that eh. Wow, it's even hard to get at the dip stick now-a-days!!! LOL Thanks for tuning in and commenting. Take care!!!
OMG 😳 so many tight corners to access everything, c’mon BRP…, I guess they really want you to bring it in to the dealer for maintenance. Great job Mike and have a great weekend 🙂🙋🏼♂️👍🏻
Hello there Luc!! Thanks for watching. You know I bought a BRP shop manual for this machine and even in the procedures shown in the manual the parts are hard to get too!!! The Can Am is a nice machine but some hard to work on is all. I sure hope you are not getting any 'winter' weather yet. Take care!!!
How's she goin'? Getting the chains on is a winter ritual eh!!! Here's a video of getting the chains on my GC2300: ua-cam.com/video/cHjnQdcjEYo/v-deo.html Hope you like it and take care!
Did not know the Can-am was tough to work on. Know that they are reliable so it's worth it. Do you do your maintenance every year or every couple? Hardly ever use my quad anymore but I will keep it around. Stevo
How's she goin'? I don't drive my bike very much anymore either, but hope to start making runs this winter. I do the maintenance every year, usually in the fall. The Can Am is rugged and reliable but a real challenge to work on. So many body panels that need to come off to get at anything. Thanks for the comment and for dropping by. Take care!!!
Hey grandpa. I have a 2310 Massey. Was checking out the new 1723 series. Is it my imagination , but to me it doesn't look as beefy as the older 2310s frame shift levers etc. I'm not saying there not as good. But appears lighter in many ways. Your thoughts.
How's she goin'? This is a very interesting comment. Just yesterday I dropped into our local Massey Dealer, where I bought my GC2300 way back in 2007. As I was looking over a GC1723, I was thinking the exact same thing. The rear fenders and deck are all plastic now. The rear lights look like they should be on a bicycle. The rear end down by the PTO and 3 point lift arms looks a lot lighter. I'm not sure what's missing but it looked a lot more open than my old GC2300. I like that they more or less kept the loader arms as strong as they are. Some of the other brands look like the loader arms would bend and flex they are so narrow and thin. I sure do think the older machines are made beefier and more rugged than the new ones. So much so that I have decided not to even think of trading my old GC for a new one. Thanks for the comment and the notion that the new machines are not as robust as the older models. Take care!!!
@@GrampiesWorkshop That's funny I was also looking to up grade. But I've heard so Many many issue with the newer models. My gc2310 has 950hrs and runs beautiful. She'll be with me for a long time to come. Happy Holiday my friend!
Hi Mike! Man that battery access is pretty USELESS. That was NOT well engineered for maintenance. Maybe from a let's put this here standpoint but definitely not from a repair/maintenance point of view.
How's she goin'? That's the case for sure eh Kyle!!! Once the battery is in place it fits perfect. Just no room to get to the terminals and if you want to jumps start the bike, well good luck with that!!! So nice of you to comment and watch. Have a great week!!!
They should call it maintenance nightmare instead of Can AM. Seeing you work on it makes me understand how you can get so dirty working in the garage.

Thank you sir, its a pleasure to be here and I'll be around :)
@@Big_Johns Great!!!
Yeah its true its never easy to maintain these things lol thanks for showing what patience is all about
How's she goin'? It's a challenge for sure, but I'm lucky that I have the time now to take the time as they say!! It still takes the shine off doing the work though. Thanks for the visit and take care!!
Hey Mike, your sticker pack arrived today, thanks so much, cool stickers brother. I will clip in a shout out on my next video 👍🏻
How's she goin'? Glad to hear the stickers arrived OK. I hope you are well and that it isn't too cold for your next stealth camp out!!! Take care!!!
I would vacuum air box, or be sure intake is sealed
How's she goin'? That's not a bad idea. But it's still a battle to get to these parts and pieces. The Can Am is some hard to work on. Take 'er easy!!
@@GrampiesWorkshop we got some white stuff yesterday, just enough to barely hide the grass. Have a great one Mike 🙂🙋🏼♂️👍🏻
@@OrangeismyNewGreen I have the plow and blower on the Massey so I'm ready. I think!!!
Good job at 2000 subs
How's she goin'? Thanks a lot for the comment. Yes I just saw the 2000 sub plateau has been broken!!! Thanks for watching and take care!!!
@@GrampiesWorkshop
That's funny I was also looking to up grade. But I've heard so Many many issue with the newer models. My gc2310 has 950hrs and runs beautiful. She'll be with me for a long time to come. Happy Holiday my friend!
@@dtruth5769 I think that's my opinion on upgrading too. My GC2300 has 1007 hours and is just getting broken in!!! LOL
They don’t make it easy mate
Hey there Henry!!! If it was easy everyone would be doing it eh!!! LOL This sure is a challenge though. Thanks for the visit and take care!!
