Yeah, I agree that Oda dropped the ball on Big Mom. She was WAY too strong to be in the same arc as Kaido. It makes no sense for Law and Kid to defeat Big Mom. That's why Oda had her go "Out of Bounds". The problem is that Big Mom's DF gives her so many options to defeat an opponent. I honestly forgot that Big Mom can use Adv. Conqueror Haki in her physical attacks like she did to Page One. There's no way Kid and Law can take several of those hits from her. Plot defeated Big Mom :(
If Luffy is able to fight a severely internally damaged Kaido and just barely win out a ‘one on one’ after Kaido’s been taking internal damage since the Scabbards, everything that happened on the rooftop, Luffy unlocking advanced Haki, Yamato fighting Kaido with advanced Haki, Luffy fighting Kaido with even more proficiency with advanced Haki, this version of Luffy fighting with advance Haki + G4, and then Luffy with advanced Haki and at his absolute peak with G5, all to do enough damage to put down Kaido… Then Law and Kid 2 v 1 could do what they did against a fresh, healthy, not very injured Big Mom. Especially since it was clear that Law’s attacks actually scared her, Kid’s awakening ragdolled her and easily overpowered her physical strength, and both can break her bones which forced her to heal and amp herself to a level beyond anything we’ve seen

Nah brother..i would say big mom has been downplayed from the beginning of her introduction. She is incredibly strong but oda has literally built her to be a clumsy fuck. I mean she couldnot even kill the strawhats in wholecake island. For the years I’ve been reading this series, I always hear “Don’t downplay Ace.” “Why y’all sleeping on the admirals?” But I’ve never heard anyone rightfully defending big mom. She’s a Yonko for a reason, and one of the deadliest in the verse with her FRUIT ALONE. It’s so versatile. Pull it together with her being a giant with flawless Haki, she shouldn’t have lost like that.
Big Mom one of my favorite characters and imo one of the most creative... but she terribly handled, Mama biggest opponent is Oda, how can you misshandle such a good character this much.
she is supposed to be Kaido's equal. she should come back and have her own spotlight at some point , to show why she was portrayed as someone who can fight equally with Kaido for that long. To me the handling of Big mom is a part of a larger problem. Oda is terrible at power scaling. He tells his power scale, he doesn't show it. Or more accurately, he tells his power scale, then contradicts it. I think this comes from two major problems with anime. Manga writers are not power scalers, they forget feats some times, they forget what characters are capable of. Also Oda is afraid to kill characters, not talking about Big Mom she's probably dead. But the fact I have to say probably proves my point, oda don't like killing characters. To be more specific, the number of bodies Big Mom should have caught.
I believe in flat out overall power, she should be equal to Kaido, but her biggest downfall is that she has just been sitting around for decades after the God Valley event. She even tells Law and Kid she hadn't been hurt so badly before her fight with those two, so it goes to show she was really rusty not only physically, but mentally. I think she is more likely to come back than Kaido, and when she does, she'll obliterate some high tier characters.
I'm not very sure on this but I hope we can see more of her in elbaf showcasing her potential and her capabilities since she's honestly on of my favourite characters even though some people hate her.

And she was still be able to grin and smirk know how durable she is i knew she had a back up plan. And her devil fruit doing combos where she is in control Zeus, Prometheus, Napoleon. She has all Haki types Conquers, Observation and Armament, she can fly, manipulate fire, and lighting with amazing swordswoman ship skills and so Tanky that is equal to the strength of Kaido the strongest creature. While Kaido's showings do seem to surpass Big Mom's when it comes to durability and raw combat, Big Mom hax is something else entirely. The only reason Kidd's Damned Punk managed to knock her off was because she couldn't use her fruit powers to suck the lifespan of the people nearby because Law used a room to silence her. Kidd was using his Damned Punk for a WHILE. This just goes to show how much hax regeneration Big Mom has, and even with Law silencing her, her durability remains top tier. If Kaido and Big mom were to fight with Big mom having access to people's life spans to fully utilize her fruit, I think she could even outlast Kaido in a full-powered fight.

For the "Big Mom cannot control ACoC" part, there's actually more evidence for that than you think, and the biggest evidence is old WB at MF. Here are their similarities: 1. They are both really old 2. Both are shown splitting the sky, proving that they both have ACoC 3. Both are almost never shown using ACoC after getting injured (WB after getting stabbed by Squard and BM after getting hit by Kidd and Law) Their age most likely makes them worse at using ACoC, whereas younger fighters like Kaido and Luffy spam it. I think this would be the in-story explanation Oda would go for.

I think Oda didn't know what to do with Big mom, the character is powerful, but very stupid and not very skillful, if we compare her fighting performance with Kaido, she is behind, maybe that's why Kaido didn't include her in his list. I think Oda didn't know how to defeat a second character so close to Kaido's level, even his defeat had its questionable moments, it was impossible for the allied side to win consistently with a second character of the same level.

Well, she is almost reaching her 70's. And there's already enough evidence of Oldheads at that age losing half of that strength. These oldheads aren't just random nobodies, either. Rayleigh, Whitebeard, Garp, etc... some of which are probably even stronger than Big Mom in her prime.

big mom is definitely top 10 as you said. the thing with haki is not always potency but application. Rayleigh's CoC is not as potent as big mom's or as destructive from what we have seen of her but his haki mastery and usage far surpasses hers. she is more reliant on her physical stats and devil fruits/homie powers. she has top tier haki naturally but her use of it is not the best. this is where I think the seperation will be between shanks and the other yonkos and mihawk. he watched Rayliegh and roger quite possibly the greatest haki users in the verse. it makes sense for the student to surpass the teacher. hence why I think based off of portrail shanks CoC application and mastery is going to be crazy and the greatest in the series. remember when people thought CoC was only used to knock out fodder😂😂 and that it would useless against mihawk😂😂😂😂. Now we see advanced CoC and people say he only uses it through his sword even though the feats in chapter 1055 shows application outside of swordsmanship. roger,garp, Rayleigh and shanks are arguably the greatest all around haki users in the verse.

I definitely agree with you but I don't she's top 10 of all time but definitely top 15. That being said she is easily one of the characters oda has fumbled the hardest, she went from the most intimading character in a MEGA arc to an absolute joke and law and kidd win was definitely a mickey mouse one. You’re seriously downplaying Kid and Trafalgar Law. They fought an empowered Big Mom who went through the trouble to waste a year of her life force to get stronger to combat these 2 and she is using her strongest homies while they’re all in sync. She at this point is at the peak of her powers in comparison to when she fought Kaido. She fights Kaido for 3 days and she doesn’t have a single scratch on her but fights Kid and Law and she is getting hurt and suffering broken bones from their attacks. Clearly means that Law and Kid possess power great enough to harm Yonkos that put members of their crew to shame. Also, Eustass Kid life force was connected to Hawkins because of his Devil fruit power. This is confirmed in manga. While Hawkins is getting damaged from Killer in Onigashima, Kid is getting hurt as well and with all of that, he can still hold his own against Big Mom. Also Marco fighting Big Mom’s Homies is still impressive. Her homies are fragments of her soul and even Zeus(the weakest homie) at full power can defeat any one of her children. Marco also fought Queen and King at the same time is impressive and still a feat that shows that Marco even in his old age is a beast. It has been shown that Devil Fruits at a certain level can compete against Advanced Haki users. Eustass Kid, Trafalgar Law, Luffy, Shiki, Admirals are all proof of that. Big Mom is not as powerful as Kaido. She is not even in Top 5, he listed to Luffy that can fight him in a deadly battle one on one.

If Oda had these guys stay in shape and train, old age plus over drinking and sitting around all day wouldn't hinder their overall strength

Luffy didn't know what Haki was until he trained with Rayleigh after Marineford but in Impel Down, Blackbeard says to Luffy that his Haki is stronger than he thought. In Wano, Sanji lowered his normal Haki defenses so Black Moria wouldn't hurt her hand punching him. The Haki you're referring to is Armament and Conqueror's Haki. This is true, but there are different levels to Armament and Conqueror's Haki infusion. She didn't use that against Law and Kidd probably because her overall haki isn't strong enough to take down these 2, she has to use her homies. Her homies are fragments of her soul, Prometheus was unaffected by Armament Haki blows from a weaker Luffy back in the Seducing Woods. Queen didn't use Armament against Sanji but when he wrapped his brachiosaurus body around Sanji in a coil, he said even Armament Haki users get crushed in his grip. Obviously, that wouldn't crush Big Mom or Kaido, but there are different levels to Armament Haki, Conqueror's Haki, and Observation Haki. Big Mom takes a year of her life force to get bigger and stronger and she is using all 3 of her homies at the same time. There is no reason for her to be weaker. You can just argue her Haoshoku Haki is only comparable to Base Kaido and with all her homies in sync and growing bigger and stronger, she surpassed what she was when she fought Kaido for 3 days. If she was on par with Kaido, they would have damaged each other. But we didn't get any of that. Aokiji and Akainu were relative and both of them after 10 days were bruised, Aokiji even lost his leg and replaced it with Ice. Whitebeard and Roger after 3 days were all bandaged up. Eustass Kid knows Conqueror's Haki but he didn't use that power because it isn't strong enough for him to use against Big Mom, he has to use his Devil Fruit powers to fight her. Rayleigh said you can't train Conqueror's Haki, that power only grows when the user grows. There is a reason why Big Mom isn't in Kaido's Top 5. His Top 5 are efficient at Conqueror's Haki infusion and Kaido also states to Luffy that a strong devil fruit like his even though it is the most ridiculous power in the world is not enough to conquer the seas and Haki(Advanced Conqueror's Haki) transcends all. To me the handling of Big mom is a part of a larger problem. Oda is terrible at power scaling. He tells his power scale, he doesn't show it. Or more accurately, he tells his power scale, then contradicts it. I think this comes from two major problems with anime. Manga writers are not power scalers, they forget feats some times, they forget what characters are capable of. Also Oda is afraid to kill characters, not talking about Big Mom she's probably dead. But the fact I have to say probably proves my point, oda don't like killing characters. To be more specific, the number of bodies Big Mom should have caught.

I believe in flat out overall power, she should be equal to Kaido, but her biggest downfall is that she has just been sitting around for decades after the God Valley event. She even tells Law and Kid she hadn't been hurt so badly before her fight with those two, so it goes to show she was really rusty not only physically, but mentally.
I think she is more likely to come back than Kaido, and when she does, she'll obliterate some high tier characters.

So if Zeus is alive then the three should be too, but where did they go, they just suddenly disappear from Onigashima. We know they can't be killed by haki, only elemental counters and brook can damage them but still they can go back up. Her power literally has characters so it's hard to overlook what just happened to them.

While Kaido's showings do seem to surpass Big Mom's when it comes to durability and raw combat, Big Mom hax is something else entirely. The only reason Kidd's Damned Punk managed to knock her off was because she couldn't use her fruit powers to suck the lifespan of the people nearby because Law used a room to silence her. Kidd was using his Damned Punk for a WHILE. This just goes to show how much hax regeneration Big Mom has, and even with Law silencing her, her durability remains top tier.
If Kaido and Big mom were to fight with Big mom having access to people's life spans to fully utilize her fruit, I think she could even outlast Kaido in a full-powered fight.

For the "Big Mom cannot control ACoC" part, there's actually more evidence for that than you think, and the biggest evidence is old WB at MF. Here are their similarities:
1. They are both really old
2. Both are shown splitting the sky, proving that they both have ACoC
3. Both are almost never shown using ACoC after getting injured (WB after getting stabbed by Squard and BM after getting hit by Kidd and Law)
Their age most likely makes them worse at using ACoC, whereas younger fighters like Kaido and Luffy spam it. I think this would be the in-story explanation Oda would go for.

I think Oda didn't know what to do with Big mom, the character is powerful, but very stupid and not very skillful, if we compare her fighting performance with Kaido, she is behind, maybe that's why Kaido didn't include her in his list.
I think Oda didn't know how to defeat a second character so close to Kaido's level, even his defeat had its questionable moments, it was impossible for the allied side to win consistently with a second character of the same level.

Well, she is almost reaching her 70's. And there's already enough evidence of Oldheads at that age losing half of that strength. These oldheads aren't just random nobodies, either. Rayleigh, Whitebeard, Garp, etc... some of which are probably even stronger than Big Mom in her prime.

the thing with haki is not always potency but application. Rayleigh's CoC is not as potent as big mom's or as destructive from what we have seen of her but his haki mastery and usage far surpasses hers.
she is more reliant on her physical stats and devil fruits/homie powers. she has top tier haki naturally but her use of it is not the best.
this is where I think the seperation will be between shanks and the other yonkos and mihawk.
he watched Rayliegh and roger quite possibly the greatest haki users in the verse. it makes sense for the student to surpass the teacher. hence why I think based off of portrail shanks CoC application and mastery is going to be crazy and the greatest in the series.
remember when people thought CoC was only used to knock out fodder😂😂 and that it would useless against mihawk😂😂😂😂. Now we see advanced CoC and people say he only uses it through his sword even though the feats in chapter 1055 shows application outside of swordsmanship.

I don't think people really understand that each colour of haki has different levels and I am not just speak about advanced versions.
we have seen characters used observation differently. how fujitora's observation works,usopp on dressrosa, even enel's scope of vision,Coby on marineford etc. this is what I would consider forms of application.
affinity for a color of haki also varies from person to person. potency is the strength and raw output of said haki. Luffy at marineford. vergo full coat.

You’re seriously downplaying Kid and Trafalgar Law. They fought an empowered Big Mom who went through the trouble to waste a year of her life force to get stronger to combat these 2 and she is using her strongest homies while they’re all in sync. She at this point is at the peak of her powers in comparison to when she fought Kaido. She fights Kaido for 3 days and she doesn’t have a single scratch on her but fights Kid and Law and she is getting hurt and suffering broken bones from their attacks. Clearly means that Law and Kid possess power great enough to harm Yonkos that put members of their crew to shame.
Also, Eustass Kid life force was connected to Hawkins because of his Devil fruit power. This is confirmed in manga. While Hawkins is getting damaged from Killer in Onigashima, Kid is getting hurt as well and with all of that, he can still hold his own against Big Mom.
Also Marco fighting Big Mom’s Homies is still impressive. Her homies are fragments of her soul and even Zeus(the weakest homie) at full power can defeat any one of her children. Marco also fought Queen and King at the same time is impressive and still a feat that shows that Marco even in his old age is a beast.
It has been shown that Devil Fruits at a certain level can compete against Advanced Haki users. Eustass Kid, Trafalgar Law, Luffy, Shiki, Admirals are all proof of that.
Big Mom is not as powerful as Kaido. She is not even in Top 5, he listed to Luffy that can fight him in a deadly battle one on one.

I made a mistake by saying in his old age but my argument still stands that Marco display of feats are justified but at the end of the day, if you don't train and fight strong foes everyday, you get rusty like Marco, Rayleigh, and others. If Oda had these guys stay in shape and train, old age plus over drinking and sitting around all day wouldn't hinder their overall strength

Luffy didn't know what Haki was until he trained with Rayleigh after Marineford but in Impel Down, Blackbeard says to Luffy that his Haki is stronger than he thought. In Wano, Sanji lowered his normal Haki defenses so Black Moria wouldn't hurt her hand punching him. The Haki you're referring to is Armament and Conqueror's Haki.
This is true, but there are different levels to Armament and Conqueror's Haki infusion. She didn't use that against Law and Kidd probably because her overall haki isn't strong enough to take down these 2, she has to use her homies. Her homies are fragments of her soul, Prometheus was unaffected by Armament Haki blows from a weaker Luffy back in the Seducing Woods. Queen didn't use Armament against Sanji but when he wrapped his brachiosaurus body around Sanji in a coil, he said even Armament Haki users get crushed in his grip. Obviously, that wouldn't crush Big Mom or Kaido, but there are different levels to Armament Haki, Conqueror's Haki, and Observation Haki. Big Mom takes a year of her life force to get bigger and stronger and she is using all 3 of her homies at the same time. There is no reason for her to be weaker.
You can just argue her Haoshoku Haki is only comparable to Base Kaido and with all her homies in sync and growing bigger and stronger, she surpassed what she was when she fought Kaido for 3 days. If she was on par with Kaido, they would have damaged each other. But we didn't get any of that. Aokiji and Akainu were relative and both of them after 10 days were bruised, Aokiji even lost his leg and replaced it with Ice. Whitebeard and Roger after 3 days were all bandaged up.
Eustass Kid knows Conqueror's Haki but he didn't use that power because it isn't strong enough for him to use against Big Mom, he has to use his Devil Fruit powers to fight her. Rayleigh said you can't train Conqueror's Haki, that power only grows when the user grows. There is a reason why Big Mom isn't in Kaido's Top 5. His Top 5 are efficient at Conqueror's Haki infusion and Kaido also states to Luffy that a strong devil fruit like his even though it is the most ridiculous power in the world is not enough to conquer the seas and Haki(Advanced Conqueror's Haki) transcends all. According to spoilers in the next chapter Law will use his Haki to defend against a Devil Fruit user in Blackbeard's crew that can cause sickness and it is said he learned this from fighting Kaido and Big Mom because at one point he couldn't use Room to transport them because their overall Haki was too strong for his Devil Fruit transportation to work.
