Gia, you nailed it on what men are looking for in a friend, companion, and potentially a spouse. Being on the same level intellectually is very important. Good video as always. Thanks
I'm only 10 years older than the Filipina in my profile. Gio is correct, I've had the conversation about lifespan with my Filipina, and asked her what she would do after I'm gone. She is traditional, but all I cared about was we don't control each other, love each other as we really are. Both ways. I won't try to change her, other than hopefully elevate her lifestyle. I want her to be happy, and stay just as kind and generous as she is currently
As an American, I can say that our mainstream media will lead you to believe we like "woke" ideology and I can solidly confirm that is not the case. If a foreigner is making the effort to move to a new country and is open to a relationship with a Filipina, a big reason for this is to get away from all of that. I would like to move to the Philippines for a better cost of living, the tropical environment, and especially the traditional woman that seems to be common there. Thank you for your insights, I appreciate learning from people like you, who are living it and appear to be genuine and kind-hearted
@omnapathaigirl532 it's weaponized personal grievances masquerading as genuine social concerns. It's defined by it's fraudulent nature, as being distinct from legitimate social grievances. Keep that crap out of the Philippines.
The quiet calm, understanding and patience that comes with maturity is precious. If both partners don’t have it, the relationship will have many difficulties and lots of drama.
My girl is 56 and I am 59 OFW I want to grow old together. I will be back in March. We have been friends before at the year 2019. So with knowing each other and time to tell our lifes to each other. Hope to see you both one day. Sending loves and prayers.
As a good-looking, younger foreign guy with some money, I'd say that the filipina is the prize. But I live in the USA But don't give him the silent treatment or be jealous. Be patient and communicate with him
Since the world was a world, women were always active in the family. When we are talking about traditional, we are talking about a setting where men is the head, in other words, men have the final say. There is a chain of command, God, man (the male), then the woman ( the female), finally the children. So whenever the woman has the power oven man, we are not in a traditional setting.
I was always correcting her English. She, Nida, appreciated it. She worked for a dating service there, in Cebu. A fat, short man, twice her age, paid her company's owner, $10,000 for her back on the 80s. Brought her to Ohio. She was his slave. He raped her repeatedly and beat her. They are now divorced.
Wasn't mentioned, but I also look for loyalty, sense of humor, and good hygiene in a filipina. Does no good to be with a beautiful woman if she stinks all the time.😂
However you want to divide it, things should be 50:50 overall. Importantly, you are a team, you work for each other and with each other. You support and love each other so 1 + 1 =2.5. A true partnership builds you up, makes you both better. Not like the west where relationships have become a power struggle and 1 + 1 =1.5. Where a relationship diminishes you both. Which is why I am leaving the west and retiring there in one month. Cam
I'd say the food thing is on point. Just changing my diet in the US can cause problems like fatigue and other issues. Also a lot of foreigners are coming from someplace where the women are commonly angry and combative so being happy, kind and understanding around them is a good way to keep them. If their partner is constantly doing tampo or having an attitude then it probably won't last long. And yes most women here in the US use sex as leverage to get what they want.
The biggest take away from watching your vlogs is that finding someone compatible is essential. It's obvious that Gio knew to look beyond just your physical attributes, as you are an intelligent, nourishing woman with an amicable personality as well. It's about the long game, not just living in the moment for a quick win. Gio was playing chess instead of checkers and that is why he found his queen in Maya instead of playing games by jumping on any piece that happened to be in front of him ;)
I think that, it can be good for the relation if the wife trust and follow her husband, even if it's a bit différent then what she know. If a foreigner can travel till the Philippines, if he can support financialy his wife, etc. MAYBE that foreigner know how to manage money, how to budget.
Enjoyed this conversation. The Philippines is a place that nice and responsible guys do win! You and Gio are among my favorite couples vlogging in the Philippines. I moved here 8 years ago and have been happily married for 7 years now. I am the king of the castle, but I have no veto power over dried fish or shrimp paste entering my home. My protest are only met with laughter! haha. I've told Gio that hopefully someday we all can meet. My wife and I are living in Iloilo and have also lived in her hometown of Puerto Princesa for a few years prior to Iloilo. Just for the record...for me, pizza with pineapple every day over dried fish! haha
Very interesting video ! ..a lovely couple.. I wish you both all the very best.. look after each other !! I eat cloves of raw garlic ?!.. this could be why I have no luck with the ladies !!?? lol
It appears that you two have a great relationship, simply based on your interaction here. Good open discussion, it did not appear rehearsed or planned and you laughed together, which is very important in a relationship. I think Gio made the wrong choice though, pizza with pineapple is a much better choice than dried fish. Pineapple can always be picked off. LOL
Wow Maya your channel has exploded! Your about to pass me on subscribers and Ive had my channel for like 12 years!😢 I have a Filipina awaiting her visa so your vids are always helpful!
Some great points Maya (and Gio) especially having some things in common. Putting a 60y/o westerner with an 18 y/o Filipina can lead to disaster. In the navy Filipina's were known (by Western wives) as LBFM's powered by rice. Not nice but they were jealous as the Filipina's didn't play games and were open about what they wanted. Gio won the lottery with Maya!
As we mature as men, sex is great, but it’s also not the most important thing. I think being able to have that friendship that seems to get crushed out in our hectic western lifestyle. Also, after western women secure their man they seem to forget about taking care of their bodies and health. They will spend an hour on their hair or putting on makeup instead of spending an hour in the gym. (Not all, but many)
I think you have touched on most of the points. I think the big difference is Filipina's are still more family oriented. Because of this Filipina's priorities are slightly different than Western women's relationships. Everyone knows you are suppose to say your relationship is the most important but with the high rate of divorce mostly initiated by women in the West, it hard to say that is true. When times get difficult that's when you see the true character of a person. I think you have a better chance of a Filipina fighting to keep her family together. I look at it as the man has wants and needs the women has wants and needs but so does the relationship and you need to try and put the relationship first ahead of anyone's individual wants or needs.
Hi Maya I think you guys have that mutual respect thats needed in good relationships and Ive found the hardest thing is getting filipinas to relax and be themselves due to their life experiences or lack of 🤷🏻♂️ I agree with Gio about the comparison to western women and even cooking is such a big deal as I’ve never had a partner who would cook 😊
Great interview. If I might ask, why the wait to get married? I'm wondering if the process is difficult and am in no way criticizing either of you. See, I hope to marry my pinay next year and am wondering if there are bureaucratic land mines I should be made aware of. I hope you 2 will stay safe and be well.
Good informative topic. Maya and Gio please do more videos together and Live Streams. It makes it more interesting. Thank you. I agree married twice Both Filipinas. I prefer Filipinas over American Women. Love the traditional values from a filipina, the culture, most filipino food. Yes, Maya mentioned food I agree the beauty of a Filipina does come from the diet especially seafood, fish, dry fish. Filipinas and Filipinos age well good genes. Dry fish one of my favorite to eat especially with garlic rice. Before I was married I dated filipina at the time 2yrs. Older than me, I was 29 yrs old. She was very sexual. I agree with both of you. 👍 😊
Quit the Tampo. And don't accept him being moody either. Have an issue, deal with it and move on. Lack of intimacy kills a couple. Make an effort. Both of you. Every day. Doesn't need to be a lot, but show you appreciate each other. Discuss any major purchase or event. Don't get fat if you are thin when you get together. Don't get skinny if you were chubby when you met. Men like things stable. Women like things to change. Find the compromise. As soon as you know he/she isn't the one then break it off. Don't waste each other's time. Oh yeah, be on time!
Hi Maya and geo, so Maya how about have a list in advance of topics you might like to do maybe ten or fifteen topics , I know suddenly while your out and about something might come to you so type it on your phone so you won't forget that way your list continues,
Dried fish just smells too bad,,I do not like the odor, and I've seen how it its dried,, Gross, flies and all..My wife still sneaks a dried fish in our home..sometime..I just usually step out on our patio.
So, you don't withhold sex, you give him the silent treatment(Tampo?). C'mon how can you have sex when you're not talking? Isn't sex the first thing to go on the back-burner? I hate the sound of the filipina silent treatment(no pun intended). I've been in relationships where I get up in the morning and try to start a new day and move on but my partner continues the silence for days, sometimes weeks! It would be very difficult for me to deal with that again. My former Chinese girlfriend was faced with having to cook 2 meals as you described. It proved to be too much. As to the other important thing: No way! It's easy to scrape the pineapple off the pizza...
I'm ordering the dry fish by the kilo for Che as I'm typing Maya! I think also (which you touched on) is that you both have to have excellent 'communication.' This is true wherever you are in the world. It becomes more important when their are two cultures involved. Great, fun video Maya and thanks for sharing!
My whole thing is and I hope everyone pay attention to this comment this conversation is revisited too often and the reason why is because nobody never addresses nor mentions anything different men are leaders and men of means establishes discipline, foundation and stability also direction in a women’s life and a traditional women is more than just cooking and cleaning lm sorry I just get tired of hearing the same thing over and over again and again like for example my grandmother is a traditional women yes she cooked and cleaned but that’s not the only thing she did she also was a good writer and quilted very well even had people coming from all over the city to gave her stitch together there cloths so this is what’s missing from this conversation being a traditional women is way more than just cooking cleaning and looking after the kids u have to have sone real values as a women in only 28 years old and I ask plenty of women today what values do u have what are u good at what do u really know how to do and I don’t want yo nor shall I hear no basic common things like cooking and cleaning or she only know how to work at a job like everyone else to me that’s a women that doesn’t have any real values she just knows how to do average stuff🤔💯
1. Where - you get the idea. That men's wants to pay for anything - And what does that have to do with being a man? 2. A traditional women, has nothing to do with - Job, money ect. But the her heart, and how she "use it" on her partner, and others! 3. Space - Is that not a thing. How much time are you guys spending - Doing your own thing no matter the hours?
Whoa, whoa, wait a minute, back up, back up, 😯haha. You only scratched the surface. What about the different types of lying Filipinos (men & women), commit, to “save face.” Like lies of omission, and deception? Filipina partners need to understand, that we expect, and insist on 100% truth, and honesty, in a relationship. There are many other things our Filipina partners need to understand, when in a relationship with us. It’s about compromising. 🙏🏼🫠😎😉👍🏼.

Excellent point. Being on the same level intellectually is a must.

@omnapathaigirl532 it's weaponized personal grievances masquerading as genuine social concerns. It's defined by it's fraudulent nature, as being distinct from legitimate social grievances.

Today you have a certain GLOW that just radiates happiness. On this topic I think you might consider writing a book... With pictures of course! 👌👍🙏
Wow, thank you! 😁
The quiet calm, understanding and patience that comes with maturity is precious. If both partners don’t have it, the relationship will have many difficulties and lots of drama.
As a western man being honest and respectful would be very important points to me. I think both men and women all over the world would want this.
I'm happy for both of you...I have a Filapina fiancee that I love.... hopefully, our life can be like yours soon.

Or like the old saying goes. Find that one thing so you can do. It together so you can go do everything alone.

Honesty

Cooking dried fish in the house no way . Always outside it would stink the house for days , so always outside please , bet gio agrees
Gio's lucky. I rarely eat dried fish. 😁
