Coatings are good once opened depending on how much is left. Half filled bottle of 30ml should be good for just around 5-6 months if stored in a controlled environment.
@ if you have any say or input in formulation, I would ask if the shelf life can be increased by a bit just so us DIY’ers have some time to go through the product. Did you say they were going to make a 10ml tester bottle? As always, great content!!
Great Demo Corey! I just got my roof vinyl wrapped gloss black, will DLite be the right coating to apply on it? If so, how long do I need to wait before I can take it out on the elements? Thanks in advance
Thank you! Vinyl varies sooo greatly that its hard to say if it will be super sympatico with yours. But I would say that as long as it applies nicely with your vinyl then yes there is nothing better. Do one small test section and if it is working nicely on application then do the entire thing! If not then return it (assuming its purchased from us) and we will still refund it in full. Click the description in our store for Dlight for the full story on when to release the car to elements but short answer is 12-24 hours.
What's the role of DLight in headlight restoration? For example for some really badly hazed lights where you've had to wet sand from 1500 upward, compound, polish and finish, could you then use a couple of coats of DLight in place of spraying on 2K clear and expect a few years of protection and clarity?
Exactly, that is our expectation! I would love to see a 50/50 real life test on a set of headlights with sprayed clear vs 3 or 4 coats of DLight wiped on a headlight.
@@TheBreakfastLover Ideally you will want to treat it like any ceramic. Ideally 4-5 days without washing/ water contact. This is not because water is bad for the coating, but the minerals in the water. Coatings take 4-5 days after installation to become fully cured.
If my car was coated about 6 months ago with Dquartz, can I use this as a topper? or must it be applied within a few hours of applying Dquartz? I am trying to avoid starting over on a relatively newly coated car. I am in the Desert in CA and this is a must for my area.
Its never been recommended to apply coatings month down the line after a previous one has been installed, although James is doing some testing around the office on that so hopefully we will have more info soon. To answer your question though. I would just stick with DQUARTZ Go. If its a newer car, the coating alone will help tremendously with the UV protection. Being new, there will also be a lot more factory clear and protection just from the part being newer. Economically, i would wait a few years for the DQUARTZ to live through its life and then when it comes time to re-coat, switch to DLight. With that said, if you can spare the time and money i would lean on the argument that it would only benefit if done. You just cant have as much of a guarantee on having it bond purely because the coating has been on the road for a while. Most cases it should be ok, but just know you wont be in as controlled of a state for the coating as when you did the dquartz. I can explain further by email if you want to dive deeper. Just shoot us a message.
Thanks for sharing! Does a UV camera show surfaces that are uv resistant differently than those that are not? Or do you mean applying the product to a clear film and using a UV camera to image what is on the other side of the film from the sunlight?
@@SkyCarCare A UV camera is able to see when UV light is being absorbed. UV cameras are able to see when sunscreen is applied to someones skin, its shows up darker through the camera as the UV light is being absorbed and converted into low level radiant heat. It would be interesting to see if this can be seen when using DLight or other paint protection products
You mention UV protection but where are the test results to back these claims up? How much additional UV protection does this offer? Do we have any quantitative data for this?? I do really enjoy using CarPro products and coatings don’t get me wrong….But this seems like just another product to buy simply “because we have it”. I want to know just how much this product outperforms any other products.
We completely understand where you are coming from and transparency is SUPER important to us. CARPRO should have a video very soon showing of that data. Visuals on the actual protection of UV. It should encompass a lot of the information you are looking for! And If you know us, we are VERY MUCH never about "buy it because we have it" we will be the first people to tell you that DLight is not right for you if you do not need it. Reality is, there are tons of customers that do not need DLight. But with the advances in tech and the investments CARPRO was able to make in UV protection through a ceramic coating, offering it to the market was the obvious choice. Selling products is simply a byproduct of solving solutions for the customer. We don't want anyone to ever feel like they need everything we offer. I know a little bit all over the place there but I hope that provides value in one way or the other. We will talk about that CARPRO video as soon as they make it available to us. :)
are You going to show more of this product in the future ? specially about paint and how it reacts with it compared to plastics ? Can You also say how long it takes to work properly [ how long to dry ] does it work with essence ? is this good to combine cQuartz coats with this on top [ plastics as lights ] GBU
Absolutely. We have been testing it for some quite some time and will make sure to film more on the product as we can accurately share our findings with you all. We just wanted to get more info about the coating NOW since it was just announced.
10ml would get you headlights. and tailights for sure. Not a full car. If you got front PPF done, that could also be done with only 10ml in most cases. Full car you would want to grab the 30ml.
'Almost impossible to have uv protection in that level of coating' I knew ceramic coatings didn't provide a strong level of uv protection. I wish companies were a bit more honest. Nobody can really measure UV protection, I've asked this before on other channels in the past, Nobody has an answer. Good to see a dedicated UV protection in ceramic form. Do you have any more information about the UV protection?
Soon we should have more scientific data on the UV protection. Avi has told me that he would send it to the lab to get TRUE data showing the UV protection. As you know its costly to do these sorts of lab tests but I am pretty sure he did this and had results before we released the product so I expect he will release that info soon unless I completely misunderstood! Cheers mate! - Corey
If the product is available for purchase, then the evidence of its UV abilities should be available at launch or before. It's ridiculous to make these claims but not be able to provide evidence.
We can all agree that EVERY detail manufacturer makes a TON of claims with no proof. Unfortunately the industry is rife with that... and in fact I would say CARPRO is the most respected as far as not making outlandish claims of durability. I can't think of anyone that ever proves there UV claims... So, while I get your point it makes no sense to single out CARPRO when they are actually investing the money in these tests. I suppose we could have skipped mentioning the tests until they are available. For sure, all you have to do is skip the purchase until the testing is available if it is critical to you.
Nice to see Carpro continue to bring new products out. Thanks Corey for the video
Our pleasure!
Big THANKS Corey, another great product from CarPro!🙋🏼♂️🚗🚿💕🙂👍🏻
Any time!
My question, since it is meant for smaller areas like lights…. How long is the product good for once you open the bottle?

We have found that it works pretty well on paint! So yes!
