My favorite comfort food is mashed potatoes & TJ's frozen petite peas. 2 day ago I cooked a rutabaga with garlic & yellow potatoes. They made the best tasting mashed potatoes. This reminds me of an old Silver Palate recipe - but minus the artery clogging heavy cream and butter. Thank you for bringing delicious, decadent , kinder mashed potatoes back to my table.
In place of using a "ricer", there's the "Foley food mill" which is similar in function. Also works for making apple sauce, fruit preserves, and similar.
I always use potato masher ( manual one ) for this purpose ( mashed potatoes are national dish in my country 😊). With vegan greetings 🍀 P.S. What a lovely end grain cutting board you have🥰

I have always used a food mill to make my mashed potatoes same concept, I do love your potato ricer , less clean up. Looking forward to try your recipe, 🙏🏻 Thank you. Update: I guessed and used three pounds of Yukon Gold potatoes, Miyoko actually did say to use one Cup of soy milk after viewing the video more. Can you believe I made the same mistake as Miyoko and let the darn milk with the garlic boil over, 😩, like her please please watch this part and not walk away, the most crucial part to watch like a hawk! The best mashed potatoes, my husband and I became vegans this year and my goal in the future is to cut out oils and butter as much as possible, couldn’t believe the flavor, wow! i just added black pepper besides the salt and chives miyoko used. You will feel proud to make this with pure wholesome ingredients and get the bountiful of flavor without feeling the guilt of swallowing butter or oils 😊.
Looks like my mom’s mashed potatoes! She makes hers in the kitchen aid mixer. There is a danger in the mixer that they turn to glue if you let them go to long 😊
I tired a blender once!!! Ops! My wonderful blendtec sensed the overload and turned off. But yes my mashed potatoes were like glue. Never did that again.

Never liked vegans use of nutritional yeast and cashew blender milk. Always tasted gross to me. No thx
