Really nice show .. I was lucky enough to see Egg in 1972 and it was a really good gig. I saw them in Margate, at a venue opposite the beach, so they began the gig with a rendition of " Oh I do like to be beside the seaside !!"

Good video . Egg were one of my favourite bands back in the early '70's . Got their first two albums on release . Also saw a brief film of them on British TV at the time the core of the programme devoted to a discussion on if Eggs music would be remembered in years to come . The conclusion was no which shows how wrong they were ." Germ patrol" was a track that featured a lot on radio sessions the band did for the BBC at the time only appearing in studio form on their last album "The Civil Surface " a version l found disappointing after hearing it earlier on the radio . However it reappeared a couple of years ago on a limited edition double LP on vinyl "Egg : rare radio broadcasts , demos and early recordings " which l was lucky to get before it disappeared . Lastly nice to see younger people like you getting into the Canterbury sound music which l've always loved . So many great bands , great musicians and inventive original music . Cheers from the UK .

Well, it sounds like you are the perfect example of my target audience! Sure hope you'll subscribe and stick around for more.
I will definitely be covering more of the Canterbury Scene, wanted to get started with some of the beginning foundations. And I think after I've done mini-docs on at least 6 or more Canterbury bands, I may put together a video about the overarching story, but obviously, If I can learn all the tiny details about every band, later videos that do quick overviews of the full scene won't require much new research.
Anyway, Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it. If you haven't tapped into the Argentina prog, I HIGHLY recommend you check out my playlist on Charly Garcia and then dive into some of his albums. REALLY great stuff! So glad I found it!

Thanks for this Sean. I absolutely love Egg especially the first 2 LPs but I actually didn't know much about their history which your video has corrected .I suspect many Prog fans skip over these albums in favour of later Dave Stewart collaborations. Talking of which it would be great if you could do a video of National Health which in some ways carried on with the musical styles of Egg or the group Bruford which also featured Dave Stewart.

On Arzachiel there's a very interesting cover version of a quite well known funky jazz instrumental... Queen St. Gang it's called there... It's a very slow version of Funky Fanfare by Keith Mansfield. It was some sort of interlude music used in British cinemas, or a Saturday TV sports show in the 60s and early 70s far as I remember it. Quentin Tarantino used it much later in one of his films... because it also had some history in US drive in cinemas. Keith Mansfield wrote and arranged theme music and suchlike. He worked with Dusty Springfield too

I have listened to the lp a few times but (I listen to TONS of music all the time) and have never pit the time in to give it a serious listen. I think I will do so now as I appreciate Seans' great background info on all things EGG!

Sorry, I was waiting to investigate your question further before commenting this.
I couldn't find out what song that was on Romantic Warriors III either. I reached out to Richard Sinclair and he sent me a 15 minute voice message covering multiple topics. He started by saying that he didn't know then eventually circled back and said something about Pip Pyle writing multiple tubes but that it could also be a Hugh Hopper. Then he mostly expressed his desire to release more content on his Bandcamp, which is becoming his main form of income. He's posting old tapes from jam sessions including the conversations and I'm sure at some point, that song is bound to make an appearance. When I video chatted him a few weeks ago, he told me that he has saved everything that he could and he'll be uploading as much to Bandcamp as is logical.

    Hi Sean!

Is Kevin Ayers on your to do list?
Last thing : why don't you put music in your videos about music?
    Thank you very much!

    • @SeansMusicHunt
      @SeansMusicHunt  2 роки тому +1

Hi Celestino! Thank you so much for checking out my channel!
I bet your cat is awesome. I believe mine is about 6.
I'm actually a bigger fan of Kevin Ayers than some of the other Canterbury bands and definitely want to talk about him in the future. I keep being bummed that I haven't heard his 80s albums and I'm going to have to hunt those down...
As for music in videos, I want to. I am fairly certain that with fair use laws, I should be able to have snippets of music, and actually, this video was the first one that I did add some sounds recorded by the band. In some previous videos I play covers of some sections of music, my proudest moments being in the videos for "La Maquina de Hacer Pajaros" and "10cc."
I feel like I want to work with an attorney about it that specifically understands copywrite law before I start doing it unless someone else can give me 100% certain info on the matter. I'm not sure if some of the higher budget documentaries, and what not, have paid for licensing privileges or not.
But my scar that I haven't gotten over is that I wrote and recorded all of the music for a sitcom pilot that I made with my friends but there was a shot where my friend's phone rang and his ringtone was a Buckcherry song so the audio was deleted from the video and UA-cam doesn't even allow me to download the video so that I can watch it myself, they just got rid of the audio..
Thanks a ton! Good to meet you! Hope to see you around!

No-one is a better authority on this subject than some kid who was not even born when the 1980s REISSUES came out, let alone the originals!! 😛

Well, I don't see anyone else giving as much detail on this band as I do here. It's not like I made it up. I researched every bit of info on the subject that I could find and compiled the most relevant facts.
Hope you enjoyed the video either way. Cheers!
