I would never drive down at that speed , it's asking for trouble . More than one car has down over the side and sheep have no road sense either . And there are much steeper roads then that in Wales too !
Thank you for sharing your video, it is my birthday on the seventh of February and we usually go to Wales 🏴, further north though on the Llyn Peninsula. Since we are well and truly locked in it is good to watch videos like this, God bless.
The opening sequence of 'An American Werewolf In London' was filmed on this road. 4:51 is the exact location where David and Jack get out of the farmer's truck. The truck comes down the pass, travelling in the same direction as the vehicle in this footage, filmed from the car park ahead.
The trick is to do 5mph & park up to have your mind blown by the view. Do Chepstow to Monmouth along the Wye, M'mouth to Pontrilas (loads of routes), then to Llanthony & onward.
Nearly drove over this today, but got to the part between the mountains and my girlfriend got scared and we turned back, weather was becoming pretty worrying so was probably for the best lol. Lovely around there and where they filmed the opening scenes to an american werewolf in london.
The opening of American warewolf in London was filmed on Denbigh moors The Bleeding Wolf inn was the Sportsman, the highest pub in Wales, just above llyn Brenig
I know it well, usually go the other way, heading down to Llanthony priory, but never knew it's the highest in Wales. It is a strange magical road. I think the Antiques Roadshow used to have it on each programme.
To be honest, I rode it in June on the motorbike and it was a little under whelming, and the road the other side is in a very poor state and quite dangerous in places. The view was nice and it was a lovely sunny day so not all bad :)
NO way, Wales Highest road could be in South Wales?, there are bigger mountains up North!, must be higher roads?, but no, YES he is correct, the Gospal Pass is Wales Highest road, ( I never knew that!) and I have never been on it, damn!
I cycled this a few weeks ago - I must say - I preferred not being in a car on the way down, but would have loved a lift back up! 😄

What a gorgeous area. One of my favourite
Absolut beautiful and I love your filming. Thank you so much
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Happy birthday Linda! Glad you enjoyed my video, hopefully it isn't too much longer until we can get back out exploring again for real! Take care :)

Copy and paste those into Google and it will open in Google Maps. :-)
I cycled this road, coming in the opposite direction. I had no idea it was the highest road. No wonder i was f**ked after it.

Some good shouts there, think I've done most of it before, but in the other direction.

No, the road they used was from Hay-on-wye to Pontrilas .
To be honest, I rode it in June on the motorbike and it was a little under whelming, and the road the other side is in a very poor state and quite dangerous in places. The view was nice and it was a lovely sunny day so not all bad :)
It was a road to tick off the list, but I wouldn't rush back, unless I was in the area.
Wow, like speed reading!😉

It is indeed surprising, but true!
what a glorious day you had to drive this fabulous road. It didn't look as though any stretches were 1:4, are they off the ends of this section?
Yeah I was very lucky with the weather. I think there was steeper sections at both ends of where I filmed from.
Must visit "Gosepel pass" ...
Is this in Abergavenny?
No, it's near Haye-on-Wye
where do u start to cycling this route please thanks
Haye-on-Wye
On higher ground
Surely there is higher in North Wales?
That's exactly what i thought, but at 549m it is officially the highest road in all of Wales, and by some considerable margin aswell
@Mr Blobby! Subscribers with no videos correct the horseshoe pass is higher
@Mr Blobby! Subscribers with no videos actually I'm joking it's only 417m so he's right
@Mr Blobby! Subscribers with no videos Google is wrong! 🤣
@Mr Blobby! Subscribers with no videos The A542 road from Llandegla to Llangollen runs through the pass, reaching a maximum height of 417 metres.
