Cliff was such a great melody writer. The bass Totally holds its own in isolation here. Beautiful
Overrated AF
Cliff Burton was one of the most musical people of our time. In just about 3 years in Metallica he impacted the world more than any other bassist I know of had in the same amount of time - more than 30 years after his death, the world is still in awe.
I can only imagine what wonders he might have brought upon us by now if he was still here with us.
FAVOURITE part of The Four Horsemen
A l w a y s
Always love this part of the song
Same here. Now we can finally enjoy it in (almost) all its colors!
@@beinmetal yeah, thx.
Also, what do you think about isolate Ktulu? Maybe Apocalyptica’s cover can help?
@@scharhAlready in the process 👀
@@beinmetal cool!
Not for nothing Jake Figge called this a "jazzy bass line" or something. You should check his channel out if you haven't already!
Thanks, I’ll check him out!
@@beinmetal dude kills it on bass!
you'll see me quite a bit on his shorts in the comments 😅
Woah! Fancy seeing myself mentioned here. Thanks all, and nice to meet you Andriy!
@@JakeFigge You're welcome bud, you're awesome at playing and definitely deserve a shout out! 🤘🏻
Horsemen for me is arguably the best song on Kill, of course Anaesthesia is my fav, prob my fav piece of work of their back catalogue.
I really love Jason’s stuff around Misery too.
I have just found this channel and I’m so glad
call of ktulu isolated when?
I got this album when it was released and played it on a cassette deck bomb box made by Sony. Years later I got a real system with Equalizers and bass and treble buttons. I could pretty much isolate and instument on all my CD's then, I remember doing this one because I'm also a bass player, I'll never forget my reaction to this one. Really great.
that part where he goes really high makes this one of my fav metallica travks
He took such a simple part, and made it fun to listen to. For the bass part I mean, not overall for the section.
It is a masterpiece man!
I actually incorporated that exact part into a bass solo I wrote in high school for my senior year music exam but played the rhythm a bit differently (as well as having the main melody be heavily inspired by Anesthesia and I called the entire piece Cliffhanger because yes) and got one of the best marks in my class, and to this day I still don’t think my teacher even realized it
Cliff was a Skynard fan. This is already documented that the Sweet Home Alabama chords were added to Dave’s song after he left.
and lars said cliff didnt like iron maiden
this is pure steve harris dude
It’s actually sweet home Alabama
Cliffs own words are that he likes maiden but doesn't take influence from Harris
he "doesn't like iron maiden" in the sense that, for example, i love "back in black", "highway to hell", and "tnt" but i am not an ACDC fan.
as you can see from his dad's video showing his vinyl collection, he's got like 1 or 2 iron maiden albums but he's got like a dozen thin lizzy records.
Nah… it’s pure Geezer
@@riverpascual7592by the time he died maiden had only put out 4 or so
That's awesome! I've always noticed there was a lot going on in that song bass-wise but it was so hard to hear because it's buried too deep in the mix. Do you think Zazula was in charge of keeping bass to a minimum on that record (except for Anesthesia) or was it somebody else's doing?
OMG He just played always different phrases throughout the 1st guitar solo, awesome man, just fucking awesome!!!
I always thought it was lars composing that part since he has credits on this song
Cuando comencé a tocar el bajo, está fue una de mis primeras canciones, lo gracioso es que de tanto que la tocaba empecé a improvisar sobre ella y pasó que al final la tocaba muy parecido a cliff
i always follow that line on guitar when i am playing lead of this song, sounds more entertaining than chords
There is a funny video where Dave Mustaine says they were trying to fit the interlude into the song and he started slowly playing Sweet Home Alabama as a place holder. The band iked it and it stayed in.

He should’ve gotten a writing credit for that
And they always cut this section out when they played it live never understood why
The Hendrix of bass, and as a guitarist i dont say that lightly
ever wondered how hendrix himself sounded as a bass player? have a listen to "long hot summer night" from hendrix' electric ladyland lp. hendrix himself played the bass (besides guitar of course). it's focking insane!! :D
@@hollygrail14 yeah I know, I've heard of and it's so good!
People who knew this existed already
👇
Thats why I never learned that part xd
Dude look up Echo Bass 2 he has Metallica bass only even not isolated ones he's currently reworking on Justice bass stems
Sounds like MOP
I bet he played a Rick because of Lemmy
Dave wrote that as well😂
Cliff was my childhood hero. And was the bassist I tried to emulate the most.
But I never liked his tone. Never liked the bass distorted.
I always preferred a clean tone and just pluck it hard for any punch I wanted.
I have the same opinion on John Myung too. But with chorus. All bass chorus must die! Lol
Wasn’t hidden to me, I listen to my music and bass on 10 though 😃❤️
Ummm, this is not a hidden bass solo, it's clearly audible and it's been on all Metallica tabs for years now, but very cool nonetheless
If you are a true Metallica fan, note that it is not spelled with 2 „t“ and 1 „l“…
The rest of the band is playing sweet home Alabama
I'm a bit of a Metallica hater these days tbh but I thought everyone knew about this
I wouldnt call this hidden .
That's not a bass solo as well as literally EVERYYONE that's heard Kill Em All knows of this....duh
Another good composer but mediocre instrumentalist. Burton is more of a legend driven by his tragic death than a real superhero bassist. Actually the most technically accomplished Metallica bassist was Jason Newsted. Not Burton and not Trujillo. The fingerstyle fetishists might not be satisfied with my comment but that's it.
Wasn’t hidden to me, I listen to my music and bass on 10 though 😃❤️
