Lots of these WNBA coach's & player's have some Serious issues!!
It was ugly because Sides started out trying to run a slow pace game instead of the run & gun fast pace transition. She didn’t see the ball for 6 possessions in the 2nd quarter after passing the ball off after crossing half court. The team is winning despite Christie Sides. The only good thing is she is playing Clark, Boston, Mitchell, Smith and Hull or Samuelson.

@@angeiang7006if it's a conditioning question then get your players in better shape. CC is the one player who could be overloaded coming straight off of a full college season and she ran that style just fine for 3 quarters just the other night.

With smart substitutions players won’t get tired.
Mercury and Lynx were short handed, a slow pace game helps them. Faster game will tire those teams more than Fever.
Can't help but love the continued friendship and bonding between CC, AB and Mitchell. They are really gelling as a unit

Don’t leave out Smith they are definitely the Fantastic 4 and now add in Hull for the defense and we definitely have a great line up with Katie Lou for back for 3pt shots and better defense now, Temi when she’s back for her defense and ability to run the floor, and Dantas to help in the paint with Smith and Boston once she gets in condition and chemistry with the team. They just need to stop playing wheeler and Wallace and Sides to stop forcing them to play their old style of play and allow CC to play the PG and stop making her play SG or PF.

I think you missed the beginning of the game when she sat Clark for 3 minutes and it seems she told her to slow the game down. It took going back to the fast pace at the beginning of the 3rd quarter and then the entire 4th quarter. Did you not see that Clark ran in transition and no one on the Fever ran with her, she’d picked up the ball and was looking to pass and the rest of the team was still in the back court.

The team was going slower, I was frustrated they weren’t running like usual. I mean they ended up winning so idk what the game plan was but maybe it was appropriate?
I actually think cc needed to come out. She was frustrated. At iowa when she was really frustrated she would come out and then get a chance to refocus because she wanted to play so bad she knew she had to shift her mindset and toughen up. She seemed a little more composed when she came back in, at least that’s how I remember it.

@@mag07226I didn't watch the whole game but I just want to ask if maybe Sides wanted Clark to slow down a bit because she's turning the ball over early in the game? Maybe Sides' trying to avoid CC adding more TOs? My point is they won the game. Often, we're so critical about Sides decision making but we gotta give her flowers when she deserves one.

Sides did not let CC and the team run. I could be wrong, but it seems like Sides would rather lose the old school way than win the new school way, which is running.

You’re wrong about Sides. Sides need to be fired. She kills the energy of her team and forces them to play slow until they almost lose and then lets Caitlin cook. Caitlin running the point is leading an offense that is scoring nearly 30 points a quarter. Sides’ slowdown loses games. Sides is a bully who doesn’t like Clark running the offense even though the team plays well.
Love your positivity. I’m just happy sides ran a play for Caitlin starting the 4th quarter, going to her left. That was HUGE. And the starting lineup is finally getting figured out. AND their defense HAS improved.
There’s still so much about sides that leaves a lot to be desired. For me it’s her “we have to figure it out” all the time. I feel like I have never heard other coaches say that lol.
Sides is not a good coach, CC was in a slow down game for 3 quarters.. Sides need to take advantage of CC strengths.

Congratulations to the All Stars setting up the others and playing as a team. Clark is a true champion that makes others around her better.
Good on you for giving Coach Sides credit for the win. As for Coach Reeve, give her credit in the post-game for publicly acknowledging the Caitlin Clark Effect is real and the WNBA has to be smart to capitalize on the moment.

Sides trying stuff is a good thing believe it or not. It was really broke before but by trying stuff got a lot better. Some stuff wont work but i appreciate someone willing to tweak. Think about it, remember when kristy wallace started? Then it got tweaked to coming off the bench, now fully benched.

That was one ugly game through 3 quarters, and no one would have been surprised with a loss. Thankfully, they started to run in the 4th qtr and played more like we knew they could, and pulled off a win. Great team effort down the stretch.
Wake up --- Caitlin Clark had no rest coming into the WNBA ---- because of too many games scheduled for the Fever at the beginning of the season.
She finally got some rest and now you are seeing her potential keep growing. (Also a chance for the team to get to know Caitlin. )

Although CC only had 6 assists, Thomas had only 3 today, allowing Clark to slip into the #1 spot at 7.8 while Thomas dropped to 2nd with 7.7

I still think Sides is along for the ride. Caitlin and AB are driving. ANY coach would be reaping the benefits of having those two #1 draft picks on the team. Sides sometimes messes things up, where better coaches wouldn’t. She is more of a liability than anything else. It is sad that they have to deal with her.

Robin, how do you defend Sides forever bringing in Wheeler, she rarely can contribute tonight 11 minutes 1 rebound and 0 defense. CC should always be the point guard this off-guard stuff is just stupid. Thats like saying hey Magic we going to move you to shooting guard for 20 minutes a game, you good with that.

Clark has changed her game and role completely for the good of the team. She isn't a natural 1 guard, that's one reason her %s are down, because she has taken on the load of ball handling. Which is very necessary because they dont have a 1 guard and Mitchell is a 2. AB and Mitchell and other players have their game and they stick with it. Clark can fill in any gaps at an elite level, which makes her generational. So very very few players can do this. If you know basketball you know this, it's not a box score thing. This is why they are going to the playoffs with Clark as the catalyst.
Caitlin has been point guard since she was in grade school. She is the best passer in the league. She IS THE point guard. Her %s will never be those of Iowa. Plus, she takes just under 13 shots a game now opposed to 19 in college.

Robin this battle of will between CS and CC has to stop because currently playing fast pace to get a huge lead only to put Wheeler to burn it up and go back to fast pace to save the win at the last minute is a dangerous recipe.if they want to play defence they need a recipe that actually protects the lead and not only intends to protect it.

@@TheRobinLundberg Not early in the game against the Liberty, Not when they lost their 31 points leads to the Marcury and not when they got beaten by the Sky after having a 15 points lead. All 3 times it was Wheeler manning the offence with CC used as a decoy and each time the leads disappeared like a magic trick. No way you can be +1 when overall you left close to 50-60 points on the table with little to no response.
@@TheRobinLundberg +/- is a garbage stat, did you take a stats class ? Any stat loaded with lurking and confounder variables is limited as a direct comparison with other players. ie it doesn't take into account the different match ups/different units players face or work with, time and length of substitutions, and dozens of other variables. A good statistic winnows out those pollutants if we are really going to have "advanced" stats.

Bravo! Knocked off a pretty good team, Mercury, twice, and two of the top teams in the league, Liberty and Lynx. 10-6 last 16 games. To me, seems like things going well. I don't understand all the negativity from other UA-camrs and commenters. Thank you for this video!

My goodness, of course it was ugly! Sides decided to change the offense that was working and you want Sides to get credit? They won again despite the terrible coaching choices. Not running and keeping Wheeler on the floor and not screening and actually rolling to the basket? She is not coaching, not your best take
The point is not what they have achieved! But what they could have achieved! Of course coaching and training have brought them here. But decent coaching would have make them play 4 quarters in good offense instead of just the last one. Decent coaching would have achieved a winning record so far, and would be aiming for 4th or 5th position in the table.
Great take on this game. After watching Iowa for the past 2 years I will say when Caitlin gets frustrated she makes dumb mistakes and that's when Sides needs to call a timeout or take her out--she's starting to learn that but she still doesn't pull her out fast enough when CC gets into that head space. Hopefully that will change as CC matures. AB and Smith kept them in this game for 3 quarters until Mitchell and CC finally caught fire in the 4th. Not sure why Smith hasn't played very many minutes the past few games, I like what she does for the team.

Mitchell is an All Star and she has earned it! All I see is when Mitchell plays with Wheeler, they play one on one basketball hardly any points are generated and the game slows down to a crawl and the other team gets the points.
I bought into the hate early on. I don't think it wasn't warranted to some extent. But she is a baller, and she's giving in to the camaraderie. It's fun to see the Chemistry within Run BMC!

indiana still only has 4 consistent players. so, they have to kind of piece it together and figure out the best 5th player to use every game.

Sorry, but I disagree. The team is winning despite Coach Sides. When they play as the Coach wants a half court game, the team does terrible. When they run and gun, they score especially in transitions. It’s obvious to a casual basketball viewer to see the differences within the game when Sides calls play and subs to cater to her style of coaching. The team does poorly. I don’t know if it’s an audible on Clark’s part, but it seems the players have adjusted to Clark as point guard and style of play. Coach is fighting the teams’ s tide. A new coach is needed to bring out the best of each player.
You don’t get why people get upset with Sides! The 4th quarter of the last game and the first 3 quarters of this game were crappy for the same reason! They didn’t have an uptempo offense! Sides likes slowing down the game! That’s not the Fever’s forte!

GREAT win by the Fever! Pisses me off that they lost to the Washington Mystics on the 10th. The W(WE)NBA has some serious issues if a head coach, Cheryl Reeve, can have that type of attitude. There's no hiding her disdain for Caitlin. But her tone sure did change after the game.

Just my perspective: I believe Catlin knows more about basket ball than Sides at this point... Catlin is teaching the others how to read the floor and yea, it's dangerous but it's working. More and more of the other ladies are listening to CC. Now Sides is going to go ballistic on CC and its making the news reels. I think the girls are "yea coach Sides" then going to the floor like CC is showing them... Sides is go to explode soon.
Sides likes making 500K a year. I think she will find a way to accommodate Clark. Or does she want to coach high school ? That where Cooper ended up after his last WNBA gig.
Looks like the Fever is becoming more and more like the Iowa team, with CC leading the way, particularly in the 4th quarter. CC and AB combination is becoming quite lethal and I would not leave Mitchell on her own. I think the Fever can be 6 or 7th for the playoff, and I would not want to play the Fever in the playoff. Mystics are underrated and I think they will overtake Sky for the 8th.

The early schedule was criminal for this team. Since CC has had a massive impact on the economics of the W, maybe the league will also have to look at the imbalance of scheduling and the too short training camp.

The Fever has to be Clark’s team. Only way it works at a championship level. They have to sit her down. Tell this is how it’s going to be.
Of course Clark struggle, didnt you see the other team didnt leave her side, two three players all the time. Mitchell and Boston were not guarded like that, so they should expected to perform well, like Sides said, Mitchell so good all around player (but no assist most of the time) Boston is very good leading the team always playing good and had the most impact, CC she should be a decoy, a passer, limit her assist and shooting, no play for her. Still fire the incompetent coach!

Sides needs to go, she is a HORRIBLE coach, too many times Caitlin (and other team members) are standing there with their thumbs up their butts because they have No clue what to do in Any situation. Caitlin needs to fully understand that when on the floor SHE Is the Captain. The other players are trying to follow her lead because they are lost and Fully understand they're NOT going to get guidance from the bench. There are 3 Allstars on this team. The players bring talent and it’s the coach’s responsibility to harness the power of that talent to win games. The Fevers are working too hard to be top portion on the bottom.

The fever seem to string 4 great quarters together followed by 4 terrible quarters. The difference in this little run is that they seem to be doing it in different games. And actually, that's probably better for them. They have proven that one great quarter from them can win a game. Maybe Sides is a genius? Hold them back long enough and then just let the horses run.
