Just a question, but wouldn't using tap water only add to the problem of build-up in the coffee maker? I use gallon spring water, but will use distilled to clean it. Just wondering if what kind of water used will make a bigger difference. I could used distilled all the time, just not sure what the coffee would taste like...? Any ideas? Oh, by the way, thank you for this demonstration, I am another lost soul on how to do the cleaning - this was VERY HELPFUL!!
Tried this today up to the “wait 30 minutes” part. About 17 minutes in it began to smell like something was burning. Turned it off, emptied and rinsed the reservoir, continued with the next steps. May not be completely clean, but sure beats burning down the house!
After the first pitcher of water, my cup bottom melted on the coffeemaker. Perhaps I need to change cups two or three times due to the make of the ceramic cup. On the second cycle of the process, I changed cups two times. I was afraid of losing another cup. It was not a cheap cup. It was a ceramic mug from Starbucks. What do you thing happen that my cup melted?
Hi Larissa, Thank you for watching. How often you should descale your Keurig depends on several things. How often do you use it, do you use filtered water, do you use a water filter in the reservoir, do you use well water, does the coffee start to taste different, are a few of the things that will determine the frequency of the descaling. I do mine about every 3-4 months and the Keurig will pop up a reminder on the menu about every 6 months. If you use well water or the water in your area is heavy with sediment or minerals more frequent is advised. I hope that helps. If there are any more questions feel free to ask and don't forget to give the video a thumbs up or share it with friends if it was helpful. Thank you.
Why would you not put the filter in when you put water in the reservoir? Before the 12 -20 brew cycle flush? Aren't you adding more hard water through the machine?
That is a good point Lisa. You could defiantly place the filter back into the reservoir before flushing it clean. I have a whole house filter and often forget that others may not. I hope that you found the rest of this video helpful and gave it a like. let me know if you have any other questions or other video topics that you would like me to cover. Thank you.
This is the first time for me cleaning our Keurig and I wasn't clear how to use the descaling solution. I was at a total loss. Thank you!
Excellent instructions and very easy to follow!
Thanks. Made it look easy.

Looks like the water didnt go in to the mug on the 2nd "brewing" .... I'm assuming as long as it says "brewing" it will take awhile.....
How often would u need to do this?
