Ercoupe 415c | Un-spinnable & Un-stallable? | First Look | MSFS2020

- The famed 'safest aircraft' from the 1930's built by the Engineering & Research Corp. (ERCO) came the Ercoupe 415c after a few models prior. Now in MSFS by developer BRSimDesigns in a number of liveries, accurate characteristics (?), 8k PBR textures and a whole lot more.
We'll take a look at the bird inside & out, t/o, landing and of course try to stall and spin it.

Outstanding review and video. I absolutely enjoyed it. I can't wait to grab myself a copy this weekend. The Ercoupe has always been a favorite of mine, and I was totally thrilled to hear it's release announcement a couple days ago. Thanks so much for creating this video and sharing it with us. Great job sir!
Thanks! Glad you got to eyeball it pretty good. Its a real treat of a little bird.
I'm with you on preferring GA aircraft,the simpler the cockpit the better. Can't wait to see a J3 Piper Cub in MSFS.
I love the big birbs too but less startup = more in air time smile 😃
Plus the little "weird" craft just do it for me. Like "weird" locomotives
@@schnauzahpowahz I know what you mean. I've got a copy of the 1946 book Piper produced called "How to fly a Piper Cub". Towards the end is a checklist covering everything from wheeling out the Cub, preflight & walkaround checks, start-up, taxi, take off, simple flight, landing, taxying, stopping and putting away the Cub. In a modern aircraft, this would be a book itself, in the Cub it's 53 photographs with a simple notation under each.
"VRF only" on the panel! PS. The sounds are the completely stock Asobo C152 sounds. (including the creaks and squeaks). Nice fun little plane but considering it's basicness and lack of custom sounds, I feel it should be a tad cheaper.
I own an Ercoupe 415c and yes it has trim, and rudder pedals. Great video!
One detail to look at for greater accuracy. The window sill on the cockpit should be level with the ground and the tail should be set at 65" to the bottom edge of the vertical stabilizer/ lateral controls. Basically it should not fly on its own. It depends on being positively rotated for take off.
My Forney F1A came from the factory with rudder pedals and the feet steer the plane on the ground. unfortunately no toe brakes, still 1 brake handle. Mine has a C-90 with 100 Hp upgrade and 15 gallon fuel tanks in each wing. The 415 C and D have fabric covered wings but many were aluminum covered over the years.
Nav lights for the Ercoupe do not look anything like the video. The bail wire over the light is correct, but it was a single lenses with the bail holding it on. On the nose gear, you'll notice that there is a snubber cable. This was a cable that some folks added on to keep the nose gear from extending fully. ERCO said the snubber cable was not needed and a bad idea.
gauge
No fuel gauges on the wings of an Ercoupe. Only the gauge on the header tank and a small gauge behind the sidewall left of the pilots left calf. Most have a push button for start or a pull handle, not keyed switch. T/O rotation begins at 60 MPH (not 65knots) that's why some "porpoising". Nothing in the Ercoupe is recorded in knots except crosswind component. It is a MPH airplane.
Landing is easy in the Ercoupe, just fly it to the ground... that's the reason for no snubber cable, so the nose gear will be operable for steering early in the landing rollout. Land at 60 mph
By the way, I own a 1946 415D . It will not drop a wing during a stall. Therefore, it won't spin.
Great video again Sean - I skipped this for the Vans RV-14 coming from Sim Works Studios tomorrow ;)
The Sukhoi SU-31 has now released on Sim Market from Indiafoxtecho
Great video! There's no C65 and no -12. There are continental A65 engines but not in ercoupe. Maybe you meant C85-12
I'm watching this because I'm debating on buying one to do my flight training on to get a PPL. I have a decent VR flight sim setup, so I figure any day I'm not flying, I could sink into sim time to practice.
neat aircraft
The glide and landing roll-out on this aircraft are seriously messed up - it glides almost horizontally and on touchdown it rolls almost forever without losing any speed. I've found that I get much more believable results with the following changes to the flight_model.cfg file:
cruise_lift_scalar =1
parasite_drag_scalar =0.8
Need to get the Vector W8 haha you'll get it if you look it up and read about it, mind blower. Nice little plane I'm more of a GeeBee fan but still nice great video to.
Vector W8 is a car or thats all I can find it being can you point us in the right direction please
@@RobertDodge yeah its a car that was built by a pilot and everything on it is designed as it would be found on a plane, so a little joke for you cool tho haha
....NOT unstallable.......I flew one for years...It will stall,...but won't spin.....
Saw a few of these at Sun N Fun yesterday.
Oh nice. Lucky dog 😁
Where is this available? Its not in the MS2020 marketplace.
Why does the Ercoupe on this Sim sit so low in the rear? My real Forney F1A Aircoupe rear stabilizer / elevator sits about 4 to 5 feet off the ground.
Noticed that as well, the weight may be out of balance in the weight tab... if im not mistaken it uses alot of default c152 parameters as well
