    If your spraying the correct way your going to get a much thicker coat everytime, a squeegee pulls the sealer off especially on a slick asphalt driveway just like it does on your window when ur cleaning it with a squeegee

      No, there are different types of squeegees: floor, window, tennis court and asphalt. An asphalt squeegee is made specifically to spread and sealcoat over the surface.

    I like a L-7. Some people prefer a L-5. Others use different. It depends on the surface to me. I'm open to new options though.

    A company asked me to estimate for them straight out of college and I have no experience in the fieldt they have been saying 1 coat spray and 1 coat squeegee for some jobs. What exactly does this mean and what would be the steps?

    Curious as to why you use a tennis court squeegee for sealcoating?

    where can you get the oil based stuff? I think at big box stores they only sell water/silicone based sealers

    • @slimdude2011
      @slimdude2011 2 місяці тому

      Oil base sealant is niche, and most home improvement chain stores doesn't carry it. Even the contractors use the water base sealant. Oil base sealant has a strong odor, and it takes a very long time to dry, cure and it's very hard to clean afterwards, the same as oil base paint. That's why the majority of the consumers doesn't use it, they buy and use the water base sealant and paint, instead of the oil.

    What's the biggest commercial lot yall have done by hand with squeegee? Are smaller to mid size commercial lots just unreasonable with a squeegee? I'm debating on doing some properties by hand but not 100% on doing it lol

      I do all residential jobs by hand and commercial lots less than 5000sqft.
      I never do 2 coats if squeegee. Always if spraying. I never add sand or silica or whatever; its totally unnecessary, just creates buildup in the tank and trashes your pumps.

    Squeegee last longer . Sprayed is good in a way

    • @jenningsasphaltservices1674

      Squeegee does last longer but spray is faster and more cost effective and a good spray job should last 2 years ....where doing it by hand can last 3 or 4 years which deters customer from doing it every 2 years ...

      My guy brushes and lasts me 1 to 2 years. Spray lasted 3 months. Spray cost me double in price too. I guess a lot depends on the quality of the material used.

      @@fattysgarage1754 Spraying is the worst method of sealcoating because it doesn't last very long.
