  • I talk about what IT consultants do in this video. I give an example of how consultants use Gap Analysis to figure out the current and future state to identify the steps clients need to take to accomplish their objectives. Consultants use the findings of the assessment to support the clients with the implementation of the new systems. IT Consulting companies have both technical and functional consultants that do the assessment for the client's needs. Based on the assessment results, the clients usually have several options to either buy Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software or custom build their own system for their needs. The consulting company can often provide their services in implementing the new system.
    Here are some roles below to get you started on your journey:

    The beginning is so accurate. For the past few days I was only watching videos about consulting and until this video I had no clue what a consultant is doing. Thanks!

    This is a great video. Gap analysis is definitely one of the things consultants do for their clients. Good job explaining the process and kudos for the gaming terminology.

      Hi Vikas, I would take a look at Salesforce functional consultant tainting. They had training on their website as well. You can get a cert in that to gain the technical skills of the platform. Salesforce is leading in the industry and I've seen many companies using them. Hope this helps.

    is technical knowledge is reuqired ?

      @HamzaRashid  4 роки тому

      If you're going for an IT consultant role then some technical knowledge will be required. Even business analysts need some technical knowledge to design the system. But do not need deep programming skills. For entry level roles they might not care if you have much technical experience but most likely will ask general information systems type interview questions. Ex: what is SDLC, What is functional requirements, etc.

      Hi That is a great question and something I've helped my friends with before. The answer is yes! A couple of tips to get you started:
      1. Learn about the consulting positions you're applying for and the industry they're in.
      2. Modify your resume to showcase consulting related experience. For example, let's say you're an analyst in IT department. You can think about who your "clients" are. Your client can be internal or external. So think about how you helped your clients reach their business goals with your past experience. You can word your resume to indicate that and use consulting related terminology to showcase your relevant experience.
      I hope this helps!

    I have experience as a help desk specialist but i am currently a grad student doing a masters in cybersecurity. Do you have any suggestions on jobs to apply to? I would love to do consulting or security analyst. What do you think?

    • @HamzaRashid
      @HamzaRashid  4 роки тому

      With your masters degree you will be able to work at any large consulting company as a security analyst or security consultant. There are many smaller companies that specialize in cybersecurity as well. A lot of businesses hire these companies for their services for their assessment or custom tools. I have some family and friends in that field and they work as consultants. Companies hire their company for assessments and compliance related work. Do you have a specific industry in mind?

    Hey, just got an offer letter from KPMG for the profile IT advisory (lighthouse) I'm a IT graduate. I still don't understand what the job is, my joining is for interning be for my last sem starting from han 4th and then full time job after that.
    Please help me understand what I will be doing and how can I prepare right now to get a headstart.
    Thanks. ❤️

      Hey there, I did a search on KPMG lighthouse and it sounds like data analytics and AI work. Until you're on a project it will be hard to know what you need to know. In general, you can prep by improving your SQL, database design and data warehousing, python, and data visualization skills. Also get familiar with machine learning. Hope this helps!

      @@HamzaRashid thanks for the information I actually know ML probably one of the reasons why they hire me.
      If you can help me with one last thing, the starting salary is about 4lpa + compensation bonuses. I know it's a big 4 and so but still not sure if the job is worth it (money wise) should I keep looking for other jobs or not if down the line money wont be an issue anymore.
      Thanks a ton

      If you think they are low balling you, you could keep looking for another offer and try to negotiate. Another thing to do is get that big name on your resume and jump to another company.

      Yea sure mate... Thats why Google etc has Conultings aswell and there are companies for it, because every ceo manager is too dumb to google things. No because everyone can google stuff for 1 whole month to research something, Consultants can give you an answer in a day and present you more options to it and also has benefits and negatives to it to present to you.

    • @HamzaRashid
      @HamzaRashid  2 роки тому

      That's a great answer! Time is money in business and sure, people running multi-million dollar companies can stop their jobs to google their problems and maybe will find an answer that might work under some conditions. Or they can go to professionals who have done things multiple times and can save the companies time and money.
