Its sad when you have to be told what pace you need to run by a computer...For Cheptegei’s 10,000-meter record (26:11.00), except for his final 1,000-meter stretch, every other 1,000-meter split was within a second of 2:37, a metronomic mark that would be difficult to replicate with just a watch. Bekele seems like a complex character. He isn't just this smiling charismatic individual that Haile was. He seems brooding, ambitious, and complicated. But nonetheless seems like a good person, but also perhaps a tragically socially awkward maybe even lonely person. But that's just how I've perceived him. I think it's a shame that the marathon wasn't quite his event, but he showed true brilliance at times in it. Unfortunately I think this will be the end, and this will be the last year before his retirement. He goes out a legend.
Talent wise he is the GOAT but overall he is not due to his lack of consistency. That title has to be Kipchoge even on the track there are present day times faster than his. He is one of my favorite runners because of his explosiveness but his biggest battle is his mind
Injuries... People nowadays seem to forget or don't know how dominant Kenenisa was. He was absolutely crushing the running world and no body had the heart to stood up to him. Sadly he is massively and terribly underrated. Most people know Mo Farah or some other random runner than they do kenenisa. New fans these days 🤦♂️.
