- Hi Friends! I'm so excited to finally share this one. In this video I'm going to be walking you through my journey of learning french for 6 months and how my daily effort has literally been life changing. If you're trying to learn french or a new language, you will find some tips and hopefully some inspiration/motivation here. Thank you for watching and talk soon!

I'm 56 years old, but also using the Harry Potter series to practice and learn French. It's so familiar that I notice the different grammar constructions. Jane Eyre is another one I've read and taught so many times that I actually recognize the differences. I can also listen to the audio books as I read. Thanks for sharing. DuoLingo may not lead directly to fluency, but it's a fun way to engage and see if you want to go further. The Duolingo stories have been really helpful as a beginner. You really inspired me with your description of just stumbling forward, falling, failing, but never losing heart or letting insecurities or pride keep you from engaging with people. In the end, it's about loving your neighbor more than yourself. I need to hang on to that thought. I so want to get to really know the friends I made in Quebec when I go back to visit. This is so awesome! I studied French in high school, but was unsuccessful with actually learning to speak it. I have decided to pick it up again this year. I love Extra in Spanish and French. Steve Kaufmann is the man!

It’s so good to see somebody learning a language from scratch realistically and slowly learning going wrong being uncomfortable and being honest with that :) and making it fun and real and excited about small wins :))

I already got the book 3 of Percy Jackson in French. And I’m not even actively learning French right now. (I’m learning Spanish through Dreaming Spanish.)

i just moved to france for four months, my goal is to perfect my french here :) i would say i'm on an intermediate level but talking can be so difficult... so i would definitely be down to becoming talking buddies (i'm just not a native speaker) :) :)

You did far better than I did. I spent six weeks in France at age 21, but the partying replaced the learning entirely. Je regrette! Much tougher now with a middle aged brain. 😅 You made me laugh when you mentioned the grocery stores in Quebec. Those teenaged cashiers were brutal. I left with my head down. That will be the ultimate test when I go back😊

J'essaye de devenir professeure de français pour les étrangers, ainsi, j'ai très envie d'échanger avec des étudiants en français sur plein de sujets. A ta décharge, même un français ne comprendrais certainement pas grand chose s'il entrait dans une épicerie au Quebec avec l'accent canadien à couper au couteau, tabernacle ! Plus sérieusement je viens de tomber sur ta chaine en cherchant de la motivation pour me remettre au yoga (le fameux "I did yoga and that happened") et depuis les vidéos s'enchainent et étant français avec la tête rasée j'ai un peu l'impression que tu lis dans mes pensées strange internet lady 😄 Bref obligé de laisser un commentaire ici même si ce n'est pas du tout mon habitude. Bravo pour cette soif permanente d'apprentissage et de remise en question, je trouve que c'est une qualité des plus admirable. Comme disait Jacques Brel - que je ne peux que te conseiller d'écouter si tu n'es pas encore tombée dessus - "la bêtise c'est de la paresse ... C'est un type qui vit et qui se dit 'ça me suffit'" (ua-cam.com/video/aFiChCY1d-U/v-deo.html), et c'est bien le contraire de cela que tu incarnes. Bon courage pour la suite de ton apprentissage, et à la prochaine ;)
