Great videos! Packed with good info but not fluffed with superfluous material! I'm going to look when I get time but, I hope you have a batch of videos on GISP and technical certifications.
Hello Katie, thanks for your great videos. Interesting. You talk about some critical points in the GIS industry. Some questions and key issues I thought a lot about, like which gis trends are important, which essentiell skills you need and so on. I work as a senior gis analyst for over 15 years so therefore these questions are important. For 2 weeks I had a meeting with people working in the gis field among them 2 esri participants (former founder of esri germany and the 3d specialist for future developments at esri ). It was very interesting. If you are interested we can stay in touch by Email. Thanks Holm
A lot has changed in those 15years. I’m 10 years into my GIS career and I have noticed the difference in people starting now and where we started before. It has shifted many things but having the desire to figure out the problem I think is still the universal skill needed to be successful.
Hi nice video. What GIS software do you use? I've been using QGIS and looking to maybe try get some work experience at a company while at university. Is my experience with QGIS enough?
I use Esri for most of my work. I have used QGIS for some personal projects and I know many people prefer it. It really depends on what job and where you are looking. If you are looking for an entry position and it’s a company with Esri software, then I would say you need to do some projects with Esri. If you are looking in a company running QGIS you will do well. But even outside of software you need to show your capabilities to provide the business with value.
I have never worked for Esri so I don’t know the full process. You can go to their website to apply for an open position. But you may get better luck contacting a person that works for Esri in your area on LinkedIn. Then they can get you more informant and help get you connected. But make sure you are prepared with examples of your work and a resume.

Excellent work mam!🥰
Hey Katie - what are your thoughts on the GIS Systems Administrator position?
Essential the same as a coordinator but most likely dealing with less data management and more infrastructure.
Hello Katie just want to know that how long to study GIS ??
