My father bought a bajaj super (complete mechanical scooter without battery) in 1984 for Rs.4000 and used it till 2009. It used to give 30KMPL mileage, petrol cost was around Rs.20 to 52/litre during this period. Later we gifted it free to a poor mechanic for his daily commute, this fellow resold it at Rs.2500 around 2012. Now i regret this decision of not storing this vintage asset and am missing its 'duk-duk-duk' sound.
Hey Prakash, I have an idea for a future case study. "Mahindra two wheelers, How they failed to create an impact in the Indian market and ultimately failed"
Mahindra acquired ' Kinetic ' two wheelers which earlier had one popular scooter ' Kinetic Honda ' & then 'Luna ' moped . Kinetic motorcycles never took off may be because people somehow started saying ' kinetic ' are not reliable . i heard it myself a few times & when asked who ownes one you know & is facing problems first hand - the answer was " i don't know anyone who own one but it ia said ' non-reliable '.
For a market leader to leave a product segment is never a good choice. What bajaj did with motorcycle industry is definitely a good work. But had they invested same amount of energy in scooter segment then every house would have had a upgraded cheetak at their home instead of activa. Activa as a scooter has not done any major upgrade since its launched. It was not so difficult to beat the Japanese product. Image the value of missed opportunity by numbers of units sold and its lost revenue. Bajaj literally gave its no 1 position to someone else. Because of this reason, tho they have built a wonder company but they are not making the highest sold two wheeler in India even today!
Bajaj chetak's success was an example of red tapism and bureaucratic corruption in license raj. Lml px150 and vespa px150 and px200 were superior to chetak.
The first generation BAJAJ Chetak Engine was a beast, i remember driving my Dads Chetak and racing it with a Suzuki Samurai which my Friends father had recently bought, the chetak gave it a run for its money 😂
I had a bajaj super fe scooter it was a nice 2 stroke scooter Than bought a Motorcycle Bajaj platina Than 2020 bought platina h gear Motorcycle Now hv a Activa Grt ride
Bajaj failed because they did not improve the fuel consumption of scooter in spite of having order booking for 8 to 10 years which it self is the rare example of such a secured order for any company in automobile company. Hero Honda in 70 hit at this point but started with motor cycles which used to give same milage like Bajaj but in almost 1/3rd consumption. Scooter is a family vehicle which can be used by man, woman, children and useful to carry goods, no water splash from bottom while riding in a dirty muddy water whereas motor cycle has splashes water in such circumstances and you also need saree guard to avoid woman's dupatta or saree entangled in the rear wheel. Motor cycle was mainly used by farmers, milkmen and police till 70s and very less by city families. Had Bajaj spent on R&D and could have improved the consumption, their scooter market would have been almost intact till date as Bajaj had minimum maintenance and very good engine. Rest is history.
You completely missed the Bajaj Saffire and Wave with which Bajaj did try to compete in automatic scooter market. Also worth mentioning are Bajaj Sunny which was largely successful among teens and office going women and Bajaj Cub. Also, when Bajaj launched Pulsar, 4 stroke performance bikes like CBZ and Fiero were present in the market. 2 stroke performance bikes like shogun and shaolin and RxZ were present even before that.
❤ I think they should come back again to scooter market because they have good engines now which can be used for scooterslike r15 engine us used by yamaha in scooter. May be they should give it a try again. They may create good millage giving scooter this time.
If bajaj wants to be renowned word wide they need to come with bigger and fsster bikes with v-twin engine or inline 4 and cater internation market. Also downthe line should also make sports bike and participate in moto gp race.
The sales will be low , also there are other brands with big v twins and inline 4s that they would have to compete against. They should focus small to medium size engines. People who buy big bikes already have the money to go for those brands, they won't buy bajaj.
@@testpixel6pro but think of it this the amount of money that would be spend on r&d , production, sales, ads. It's not worth it ,besides bajaj usually target the south american and african markets europe and usa has established brands within them. Competition would be really high and the euro 6 emissions doesn't help either . it would be best to play it safe why go way out of your own league and do something with less incentives and returns.
@@aryantyagi12a when they do r&d it can benefit even the lower end bikes. It can helpmyo produce more hp with lower cc. I think with this approach we (India) would only be known as largest manufacture but not innovators. Because of this approach we have tcs and Wipro but no Google or Microsoft. So time we have to spend and place out risky bets. bajah has enough to money to spend on this kind of approach. And given Indian environment, r&d cost in India would be 1/4 as compared to US/Europe/Japan.

This is how many times Bajaj tried in the scooter market. They never failed in trying, they only failed in quality.
Kinetic Honda was introduced in the 80s and not 90s....and even Honda got a geared scooter initially... Eterno...
One video on the legend activa , how it entered and dominating the market since years. Pros and cons how it keeps rivals like jupiter and access still far away in the competition. Please
No nonsense video … point to point … keep it up 👍
Make a video on Jawa motorcycles. Also cover the bobber bikes of Jawa.
Was waiting for you to make this video❤
I wish to see them earn the same respect that Mahindra and Royal Enfield have right now from the western market.
What about quality 😂😂

Bro please video on Bajaj discover also it's very much good in sales but It's like none exists in sales even u could not be able to find all new model of it because my mama has discover 135 2008-9 model even today no bike in this segment beat it and me and my brother loved it.
Bajaj can think of bringing Coustmise version nonautomatic Chetak scooter on premium prices.
We need 300, 400l, 600 and 1000 cc bikes from bajaj with parallel twin and inline 4 cylinder engine.
Impressive and Excellent content❤
Bajaj Sunny us waqt ki sabse Sundar Gearless Scooty Rahi thi....Bajaj ko fir se New Variant me Sunny Scooty ko wapas BHARAT me Launch karna chahiyea.
Make a video on how Volvo bus enter India Market and dominated it.
Yes please do
My father bought a bajaj super (complete mechanical scooter without battery) in 1984 for Rs.4000 and used it till 2009.
Very good analysis of two wheelers of India 👍👍👍👍
Hey Prakash,
I have an idea for a future case study.
"Mahindra two wheelers, How they failed to create an impact in the Indian market and ultimately failed"
Mahindra acquired
' Kinetic ' two wheelers which earlier had one popular scooter
' Kinetic Honda ' & then 'Luna ' moped .
Monopoly is not competition. 😮What about Volvo general eletric
Next expecting a video on Hero honda splendor or Bajaj pulser !!
The first generation BAJAJ Chetak Engine was a beast, i remember driving my Dads Chetak and racing it with a Suzuki Samurai which my Friends father had recently bought, the chetak gave it a run for its money 😂
Honda Activa was launched in 1998.
No! Announcement might be. But, first batch rolled out in Pune somewhere in 2000/2001 Remember the newspaper ad as 'vroooooooooooom'
Definitely Chetak EV looks the best in the market
I had a bajaj super fe scooter it was a nice 2 stroke scooter
Than bought a Motorcycle Bajaj platina
Than 2020 bought platina h gear Motorcycle
Now hv a Activa
Grt ride
Bajaj collaborated with Kawasaki in the year 1990 and launched KB100.
Sir rx100 par bhi ek detailed video banao
Bajaj fooled indians by selling outdated scooter. By God grace activa scooter saved us.
Very good analytics and analysis
Nice video, but the pie charts at 3:45 show market composition of ELECTRIC scooters, while you're talking about all scooters.
If Bajaj Chetak revive..I would interested to buy it again
Thank you bhai aapko itihash ko daurane main 🙏🌹
My grandfather ordered this scooter in 1979 and recived it in 1982
6:58 before crystal bajaj launched saffire and wave. All were gearless scotters.
❤ I think they should come back again to scooter market because they have good engines now which can be used for scooterslike r15 engine us used by yamaha in scooter. May be they should give it a try again. They may create good millage giving scooter this time.
Bajaj chetak is an emotion to me
It was my father's first scooter and he used to school on this❤
If bajaj wants to be renowned word wide they need to come with bigger and fsster bikes with v-twin engine or inline 4 and cater internation market. Also downthe line should also make sports bike and participate in moto gp race.
The sales will be low , also there are other brands with big v twins and inline 4s that they would have to compete against. They should focus small to medium size engines. People who buy big bikes already have the money to go for those brands, they won't buy bajaj.
@@aryantyagi12a they can sell v2 in international market. Why to miss out on sports bike and high cc international market
I have driven many scooters which were famous during 80s and 90s eara, and Bajaj Chetak was only gave best feeling of comfort, power. It was best scooter of its time
Yes it is a beast.
Scooter range of 90 kms is fine as all electric scooters right now are city driven.
Chetak should bring touchscreen with maps and such tech in order to look attractive tech wise also.
its true dubai me bhi pulsar boht import hoti hai food delivery ke liye boht use hoti hai
Hi sir you will point out the exact point on this video. Actually Bajaj miss the trick with Chetak is classic design. Imagine Bajaj could have came with same classic design of their old scooter specs kuch bhi ho Royal Enfield jaisi case hojati n bikes solid bikti.new Chetak doesn't have unique design its like the same what other bikes are. BAJAJ really miss the trick in design
My first vehicle was a chetak. It used to vibrate over 40 kmph speed. It's design was based on Vespa, I once drove a Kinetic Honda scooter and I was blown away by the smoothness. Bajaj used the licence permit regime and political connections with Congress party to create a monopoly. Bakwas scooter in my opinion.
Bajaj Chetak and M80 are still there in rural India, they are built to last. Except for bad clutch, they were amazing.
Haha that clutch will give you good wrist exercise. 😂
also very bad braking failures
Budget is tight, innovation and technology increases the price year after year, feature rich scooter and bike is the future of two wheeler segment
I think apne 1scooter Bajaj side mention miss kar Gaye that Bajaj Sunny which was automatic.
i am so attached to Chetak, ki mere nana, dada aur papa, teeno k paas khud ka chetak tha !
Back when I was a kid I drove my father's Vespa... It was really powerful. I still remember, I did a wheelie once with triple load and father was in back seat😅 luckily we survived.
