Hey Chris, so I did this mod recently on my Rev 6A A500 and as it turns out, with the same AmigaKit 512kb board. I did the mod near the ROM, and then removed (or was it added) the jumper on the mem board, and it got me 1MB of Chip Ram. So I dont think cutting the pads near the trapdoor is needed, but I guess it just makes it 1MB hard wired. If you solder that back, I beleive you can then use the mem boards jumper to toggle it.
Any what the heck happened to that machines pads. It was NOT a hard mod to make, looks like someone had at it with an ice pick...
Kudos to the channel, I learn so much from ye wizardly manouvers!
Isn't it nice to have an easy one now and then. Take care.
Hi Chris, You are a great and funny person. Nice to see that this Amiga work again. Great job. Greetings from Steven from the Netherlands
Good work Chris. As usual, thanks for all you do to save our Amigas.
Thank you for the kind words!
It's only a nice easy fix Chris when you know what you are doing well done again 🙂
Nice to see a quick-fix as well! Well done as always!
Great stuff Dr Chris 👍🏻
"Thanks for watching and I hope you learned something."
Cheers, Louis!
i think he took that from me
ive been saying that in every video for years and years.
@@ChrisEdwardsRestoration Haha well its good to have our very own Louis. Nice channel. Subscribed.
I have been surpassed as the most dangerous man with a soldering iron.
Chris, I got a bunch of spare chips which I don't need, mostly from A500...let me know if you have a use for them since shipping wouldn't be that cheap from Germania...Fun Fact for PiStorm pimped A500 Rev6A, you only need to set move_slow_to_chip in config.txt without any soldering to have 1 MB of Chip too...
Thank you for your generosity but shipping sucks. Same them for your ride in case something happens!
My untouched pads jp4 and jp5 looks the same
Did Mac and PC users, at the time of the Amiga, have to modify their computers in a similar fashion as the Amiga, like cutting traces/soldering on the boards?
Nope they are troglodytes that only follow their leader with less powered machines and no knowledge
If Epictronics and Necroware has taught me anything, it's that this kind of rework is common on all platforms. Especially when Vartas are involved.
I awlays wonder if this dude's office is just a corner of a Santa Clara or Costa Mesa assembly plant. (doesn't have the surfer accent tho)
Yeah ok im in pennsylvania near the old commodore factory
@@ChrisEdwardsRestoration u certainly got pro skills and pro resources for sure

@@ChrisEdwardsRestoration Thankyou for the link! it is nice to know for sure that this would work. It seems really pricey at $200+ though. :(
