He's actually quite gifted, vocally. From there, it's just great music that is elegant in it's simplicity. They also make a lot of songs where it is clear they aren't taking themselves too seriously, so their personality pervades the music as well. I think that's what makes them so good.
I don't think anyone of my friends or family will fully understand how much this band touches me. Rammstein has a way of touching my soul so deeply. There is nothing in this world that could tear me away from their music. I have so much love and respect for these guys. I often times get irratated when people slander Rammstein because their German, or when people say they like them JUST because of the instrumentals. You can't call yourself a fan unless you truly see the beauty in their words.
Just unexpectedly awesome... I bought this album upon its release and I'm still enjoying it as for the first time... And this song it's just priceless... ;)
@weldorn I agree!! I actually have been learning German for the main reason of understanding the lyrics~ (and i hope to move to Germany when i get a bit older) I didnt think that i was learning it well, but now as i am listening to various bands (i mean ones that sing in german) I can understand a good percentage of what is being said- and it makes me happy! the language is beautiful, and i think more people should learn it. ^_^
you know, i have long debated what the greatest song of all time is, weather it be santeria by sublime or one by metallica or what a wonderful world by louis armstrong, but i am convinced this song rises above them all. i want to die to this song.
@weldorn The reason I like Rammstein's vocals so much is because they do sound poetic, even without knowing the language. They compose wonderful sounding music.
@filmsbycam no it roter Sand, i am german, i know it... rot is a collor (red) and when you put it together with a Nomen you have "roter" like "roter Tisch" (red desk), or "roter Himmel" (red sky)
I always thought it was a happy song. I speak a little german for its where my parents were born. But I was born and raised in usa. So I didn't understand the lyrics. Wow that was depressing
@rainmkr777 that seems like a stretch to interpret the song like that - but thats one of the things thats cool about Rammstein - plenty of ways to interpret
Rainmaker is one of my favourite Iron Maiden songs, so respect - assuming that's where u've gotten ur nick. But gotta say that I disrespect ur delusion as well :) at least do a recheck on the lovers u describe; one "died in a kiss of gunpowder" and the other "can't draw faster (eventually he must have drawn slower than the other and died as well)"
the lover who died in a "kiss of gunpowder" are the nazis and the other lover "who cant draw faster" is the present german system and the girl is of course mother germany !!! interestin to see that the the second german ends up killing the love and the girl sings praises of the first lover !!. i might be delusional but what a song !!!!
this song reminds me of soldiers on both sides of the war on terrorism, both sides tries to please the same God, ideal, or principle, in the end God can only choose one to live, and the other put to death
At 0:55, it says "he says I stole you, he doesn't..." It should be "he doesn't know" (weiß er nicht). Just a friendly correction :) Otherwise, very nice.
@nothinbutchaos oh wow, no. knowing german doesn't ruin rammstein at all. knowing german lets you have an insight in the deep poetry that many many rammstein songs have. actually i'm surprised why rammstein are so famous outside of german speaking countries, the lyrics are a big part of rammstein's awesomeness
And learn how to speak it your self. Miss Kassandra498 wasn't trying to say "They are the best," She was trying to say "Everything they made IS THE BEST," with the "IS THE BEST" part of it in German. She did so perfectly.
Ohh. Nevermind. I figured it out. I always thought this song was about wwii. what i saw was a nazi officer attacking a jewish woman, but before the nazi could shoot the woman, the womans husband got in the way and took the bullet.
@pyroninja4 dude, take it back, yell at the producer and get yer money back! it happened to me too, get revenge for all the fans that didn't get all they paid for.
What I really hate is when people in school Pronounce Rammstein (the way its supposed to be pronounced in german) as Ramsteen, just because theyre american they think they can disrespet everything (im American too but I happen to enjoy pronouncing things and respecting them the way they were meant to be). so hoorah brother
Germany is one of the most civilized and polite places on earth with one of the lowest murder rate per capita. So, what's your point? But anyway, the lyrics, the music and even the whistle give the impression of a wild west shoot-out.
I'd just like to point out, that while you did a good job with the translation itself, you did a very poor job with the technical German-- nouns are capitalized, and while I may be mistakes, I think you left outta lot of umlauts, which creat a vast difference between vowel sounds.

I love these lyrics! thank you for uploading!

Das war echt cool... Danke!
sehr gut! so true! the lyrics that Till writes are so deep and meaningful, and yet amazing. That is why i enjoy his book Messer!
@weldorn

OMG! Rammstein always are wonderful!! They are amazing. I love it
Because of Rammstein, I decided to learn German.
I don't regret it one bit. I'm so thankful to them for opening up a new world to me.
Lovely stuff!
I like this as it is poetic...One cannot just look on the surface and think it is only violent.
you know, i have long debated what the greatest song of all time is, weather it be santeria by sublime or one by metallica or what a wonderful world by louis armstrong, but i am convinced this song rises above them all. i want to die to this song.
Love the band, saw them in concert a couple of weeks ago, bought some German language books and hope one day to sing along in German. Awesome band!
I can freely and openly say that this song makes me cry
sweet man! Keep it up buddy!
@weldorn The reason I like Rammstein's vocals so much is because they do sound poetic, even without knowing the language. They compose wonderful sounding music.
I will check him out
Rounds in a weapon.
Ich muß ehrlich sagen, daß Rammstein ist eine der besten Sachen in Deutschland. Hoffentlich werde ich sie einmal auch live sehen und hören
This really feels like the plot to a Tarantino film.
Ich tu dir weh- expert

It's such a beautiful song but so sad...
@filmsbycam no it roter Sand, i am german, i know it... rot is a collor (red) and when you put it together with a Nomen you have "roter" like "roter Tisch" (red desk), or "roter Himmel" (red sky)
It means "wait" often used in films about ww2 ;)
@forthebrotherhood yes...

this band is great and needs to play larger arenas in america. to 50,000 or 100,000 at a time. best german import since mercedes benz.
Im sad now this song broke my heart but i love it
I always thought it was a happy song. I speak a little german for its where my parents were born. But I was born and raised in usa. So I didn't understand the lyrics. Wow that was depressing
"Eine liebe, zwei pistolen..."
I really love their slow songs, even if everything they made ist die beste
@weldorn i dont speak german but i still like it i fell like it makes me listen harder to the music
R+ fur immer!
@rainmkr777 that seems like a stretch to interpret the song like that - but thats one of the things thats cool about Rammstein - plenty of ways to interpret

yuperoo
Sporo błędów, ale kto by na to patrzył :) Piosenka bardzo fajna. Łapka w górę leci.
@luciferleet I meant each other but that would still be wrong, either way it could be a man theyre fighting overr
I'm going to cry the day Till dies...probably die just a bit inside too...

the lover who died in a "kiss of gunpowder" are the nazis and the other lover "who cant draw faster" is the present german system and the girl is of course mother germany !!! interestin to see that the the second german ends up killing the love and the girl sings praises of the first lover !!.
i might be delusional but what a song !!!!
it's wierd.. when i first heard this is thought when til would sing this in concert he would dress like a lumberjack...
this song reminds me of soldiers on both sides of the war on terrorism, both sides tries to please the same God, ideal, or principle, in the end God can only choose one to live, and the other put to death
@filmsbycam its roter Sand! so it was right!
@sl8734 in the end the one with better aim wins actually.
sorry where do you come from?
@forthebrotherhood i think more like one guy becoming jealous and attacking the new lover.correct me if im wrong but thats what i think
I'm still trying to figure out why you're interested in where I'm from? Any chance you gonna tell me?
well, we just read translations )
the people don't understand....Rammstein is the best band ever...!
At 0:55, it says "he says I stole you, he doesn't..." It should be "he doesn't know" (weiß er nicht). Just a friendly correction :) Otherwise, very nice.
are you suprised that Rammstein is famous outside german speaking countries? their music is awesome and that should be enough to make them famous.
@nothinbutchaos
oh wow, no. knowing german doesn't ruin rammstein at all. knowing german lets you have an insight in the deep poetry that many many rammstein songs have. actually i'm surprised why rammstein are so famous outside of german speaking countries, the lyrics are a big part of rammstein's awesomeness
@burgekingman aw, so many mistakes :S very good english one. but you should work on the german part ;D
Ja, Ich versteh, doch orcunbaron maß die Schwierigkeit an jeder lied. Ich gefragt was "Rammstein - Halt" Ist. :P
@burgekingman he is right numb nuts
And learn how to speak it your self. Miss Kassandra498 wasn't trying to say "They are the best," She was trying to say "Everything they made IS THE BEST," with the "IS THE BEST" part of it in German. She did so perfectly.
the same thing here....:(
Was ist "Halt"?
what is the meaning of this song?
well,in the german text are some mistakes :D
@forthebrotherhood more two dudes who shot themselves for some one, its never said that someone is female
Ohh.
How come this is higher than the original. Is it a bad copy. Really threw me off when playing the guitar.
germany. my post was pure irony in case i didn't make it clear enough [:
What I really hate is when people in school Pronounce Rammstein (the way its supposed to be pronounced in german) as Ramsteen, just because theyre american they think they can disrespet everything (im American too but I happen to enjoy pronouncing things and respecting them the way they were meant to be). so hoorah brother
Zwar n paar Rechtschreibfehler aber sonst besser als ein paar aus meiner alten hauptschulklasse
Well, I never claimed I speak German. Not everyone on this planet is blessed with german citizenship. Why can't we enjoy the music?
@australianforlife Ill fix it for him :P :)
gimme ur username :P
@Laynielouxu
frei.wild
@rainmkr777 Wow, that's not what it is about at all.
@ DAT BEN EN DAT BEN Macavityyy IK ME DVS GEHEEL MET JE Eens ! En jammer dan wat andere zeggen,
Germany is one of the most civilized and polite places on earth with one of the lowest murder rate per capita. So, what's your point?
But anyway, the lyrics, the music and even the whistle give the impression of a wild west shoot-out.
No offense, but what Germans know about duels on the sand?
like "initials" should be written in your sentence instead of "inicial" and is not! Es ist einfach, die anderen zu kritisieren, ja? :)
Grammar mistakes??? Roter Sand for example ;) but well done
hahahaha xD gut gemacht aber trotz dem finde ich das mall es auf deutsch besser versteht....
tell them they are racists
du weißt schon das es im Ausland kein "ü, ä, ö" gibt?
Naja Böhse Onkelz gibt es nicht mehr. Rammstein schon. Übrigens find ich die art von Rammstein einfach nur Atemberaubend.
r+ 4ewer
deutsch lang
what the...
that did not sound right...
I'd just like to point out, that while you did a good job with the translation itself, you did a very poor job with the technical German-- nouns are capitalized, and while I may be mistakes, I think you left outta lot of umlauts, which creat a vast difference between vowel sounds.
why every goddammed Rammstein video in youtube is filled is political/religious/social comment about Germany/germans?
