    Hey I've had a kidney transplant 7 weeks now. I have had kidney problems all my life and I'm 19 now. This is my second transplant now and it's a greater match last time it wasn't a perfect match. The docs said it was miracle because I had loads of antibodies and could have been waiting for 20 years or more buh I was on dialysis this time for 5 years and last time 4 years and I'm very greatfull for this. Hope everything goes good for u xxxx

      @cindyflores  7 років тому +2

      wow you are so young and went through dialysis for so long. you must be really strong because this life isn't easy. I admire your strength through it all. God bless you too and may your transplant do good too :)

      cindy flores awww thanks. Yh I been through a lot buh should be a good future. I have a question for you, do your urine smell weird, the nurses and docs have checked it in hospital and they said it's fine. And I'm drinking loads of water so I don't understand, and it's not in morining it's during the day. Do u think it's the antibiotics or something, did you get any of this? Would be really helpful if you could get back to me. And m kidney is working 100% so I don't understand.

    I had a kidney transplant in May of 2018 of this year. I'm doing beyond excellent! My dr told me to drink 3 liters of water (which was quite difficult at first), and to also drink Gatorade G2 (has lower sugar) for electrolytes (you need them after a transplant). Now next month will be 3 months for me and I'm back to living a normal life after transplant (gym, going out ect).
    To anyone who has had or will have a transplant: it's a lot but don't get discouraged!!!!

    I love your blog! It makes me so happy to see other people’s success stories... I’m 22 years old when i was only 1 years old i had my left kidney removed due to cancer. Then was diagnosed with kidney disease on my remaining kidney at 7 years old and I reached end stage back in August 2017. I was fortunate enough not to start dialysis because my older brother was my match and made the decision to donate to me :) I made 14 liters of urine the first day so I know exactly what you mean about the importance of staying hydrated! I’ve been trying so hard not to feed into my crazy appetite because I was so swollen before surgery that I’ve lost 15 pounds of water retention since surgery and don’t want to gain that weight back. Its so amazing what a new kidney can do and how great it makes you feel! I stopped walking hunched a few days ago because I noticed I felt exactly like you did and thought I was gonna rip open my stomach every time I stood up. I really hope our transplants last a very very long time !!! :)

    So happy you received your new kidney. What a wonderful gift your cousin has given to you and she's blessed herself in addition. We are blessed when we can do this for someone. My son is waiting for his donor call, and has been on dialysis for over a year now. Your information is helpful to us especially, because you tell us how you are feeling. David is autistic and we would have no idea that he could still be feeling pain at 8 months out. Good to know about not bending ( and why you were doing it in the first place) as again, David would not be able to tell us. We and all of your viewers will have a better idea of what do expect because of your video. Thanks so much. Well done!

    Just got my transplant 2 days. They never knew why my kidneys failed. It's not in my family, I have no lupus, no blood pressure, no diabetes, no auto immune disease. I was a normal healthy person and they kept telling me it was acute....I prayed for supernatural healing but 8 years later I was still on hemo dialysis.it took me 8 months to get ion transplant list, after 4 wpeeks being on list I got my transplant 2 days ago and just left hospital.. I urinate every 5 minutes now. I'm a super active high energy person but I am following the Lord's warning for me too stay in bed, walk when needed drink water and heal myself like the doctors are telling me to. Thank you for video! There is not enough awareness for Kidney transplant patients and we need to make a difference

    Hi. This video was very informative. You gave several awesome tips. Question: how do you recommend managing a transplant and college. I will most likely be going to a junior college while living at home during the time that I will get a transplant. I know that you first have to spend 6 weeks recovering at home only leaving for doctors appointments and blood work. You mentioned taking time off first. Would you recommend taking any online college classes during this time? How much additional time off of school if any should I take. I know that during the first 6 months, the appointment schedule is kind of crazy. Thanks!

    • @Alliedoll
      @Alliedoll 7 років тому +1

      Courtneylovesreading411 this is actually a great question I have been transplanted since July 21 and I asked my doctors and work and school they told me to wait about the 3 month mark but it is different for everyone.

      Courtneylovesreading411 Hey i just got a transplant on August 11th of this year. I decided to take 2 online classes this semester. It is a little hectic, but not too overwhelming. I knew I would be recovering and mostly be staying at home. I do have quite a few appointments and blood work, but if you stay on top of everything it's not too bad. If you do decide to take classes, I would only recommend taking 2 or 3 at the most. Good luck on your transplant!

    • @cindyflores
      @cindyflores  7 років тому

      thank you for liking my video! I do not go to school because I am a full time stay at home mom. But I would recommend 4-6 months, because school can be stressful while you are trying to heal. I do not recommend online classes because of my personal experience, I was overwhelmed and I had to drop out (but I was on dialysis and pregnant so a little more complicated). And you are going to have a ton of appointment which can interfere with school.

Make sure also that he drinks a lot of water to keep the kidney nice and clean. After a couple months he will start to get his strength again and want to start getting active. Make sure he was watches his diet and not gain too much weight. Hope those tips help God bless :)

    Yes i do well i have now a fistula on my left arm but unfortunately my arm its not working so they gave me the option of doing surgery on my other hand of a pd catheter so i want to kmow if i can get it wet or if its as risky as the one i have on my chest oh and if i can travel with a pd catheter

    • @cindyflores
      @cindyflores  7 років тому

      I know having a fistula is limiting because you cant lift more then a certain weight. I recommend its better to get a PD catheter, yes you can get it weight and shower normally, you can even swim in the ocean and pools, but not rivers. Of course you still have to watch out from infection but not as dangerous as the heart one. And yes you can travel with PD but only in the country because they can ship the supples.

    I had a kidney transplant when i was 15 i was really lucky my mom was a match and i didnt have to go on dialysis. Plus i was born with polysistic kidney disease so i had to eventually have a kidney transplant. i defiantly took less medicine then i took before my kidney transplant lol. The one mistake i really made was i was so deprived before and i was so limited to what i could eat that i went overboard on sugar after my kidney transplant lol. and a few months later i got diabetes temporary for 3 months but by some miracle it didn't stay cause i was watching what i was eating and being active. Im now 27 years old and have had this kidney since June 5th 2007. I was 115 lbs before my transplant and went all the way up to 140lbs. It really sucked and to this day i still battle weight but im finally on a weight loss journey and have lost 18 pounds so far. still got another 50 to go and im also going to go even more over the top and get as toned as i can i dont care i want to be in the best shape ive ever been before even before i had my kidney transplant.

      @@raneealbert7604 after transplantation I am not fully conscious . And graft kidney is donated by my mother so just after transplantation when I woke up questions like is it worth is it . To put my mother life at risk just to selfishly live long . I know it sounds silly to you that I have to think about it before transplant . My family don't want me to die and some where I also wanted to live . But till now I can not justify whatever I do is right or wrong is it worth it or not . I know I should appreciate the second chance of life most people don't get it . But I am 25 don't have a job and not any good education so probability of finding good job is very sketchy and my monthly medicine and doctor expenses are about 400$ I don't know how I mange . But if you do have to start dialysis I always recommend PD Dialysis. Also always drink a ton of water ( if you still make urine) and really watch your diet. DELHI KING yes after transplant you get most of your life back. It’s a lot better then being on dialysis. And since you kidney would work you will feel stronger and healthier. And the transplant stays alive with the immunosuppressants they give you. And thank you :)
