What it is driving a manual makes you more aware of what you doing. I see too many people driving automatic tractor-trailers like cars and flying past me in tractor-trailers and this is why you seeing a lot of crazy accidents lately

I definitely got my CDL in a manual because I did my research on the CDL process. They train people in auto trucks to keep them in the mega carriers the screwing you over on purpose. I left mega otr carriers to drive dump trucks local and making more money they don’t have auto trucks.

Well there are alot ofcompanies that remove the ability to "manually" shift the trucks. I had a 2014 volvo 780 with epes. No manual ability at all. Yes the truck had the ability but epes removed the ability.

I don’t usually comment on these videos but I got time tonight and I don’t even drive trucks but I’m starting to see a pattern where people pocket watch a lot in this industry and always worried about if this person is a real trucker because they don’t drive a manual in a truck that weighs 80,000 pounds! I’ve always been a firm believer in doing what is best for you at the end of the day. People gone talk rather you doing good or bad… Whatever makes your job easier. Do it! It’s life! But it’s laughable that a person wouldn’t be considered a trucker because they drive an automatic that makes trucking for them and that company easier. Which is why even in the racing world that most people use 10 speeds automatics or automatics in general! NASCAR etc… Because they are faster. Better MPG Nobody wants to shift a big a** truck for forever. I see it coming from old heads mostly. Whatever helps you get your money in a comfortable way do what is best for you. Times have changed. This isn’t the 80’s or 90’s let a long early 2000. Technology is advancing in many ways for a reason.

Yeah I have no interest in driving a manual truck , I understand the older truckers side of it tho. I think what’s making trucking bad is everyone wanting to be an owner op because they think they’re going to make 2-300k a year. Im a rookie driver but I love driving trucks I don’t mind being a company driver for 40 years as long is the pay is great and benefits are good too

The trucking industry has changed alot...ive been driving 28 years the old school trucker will tell you manual is better and it is for control of the truck reasons and other. If you go to school learn the Manual get you cdl in manual so later you don't have too. Why spend the money twice.

Manuals take about 3 weeks . If u double clutch u can move the truck. It takes time to learn to float. U dont have to use every gear when u downshift . U can skip gears . I prefer automatic now .

I have my Manual CDL but the Mega company I drove for is all Automatic. But... when they would rent trucks from Penske due to trucks in the fleet breaking down or going in for Maintenace it was a 99% chance that it was going to be a Manual this is back in 2016 and I watched my Auto restricted co workers lose out on routes because of their Auto Restriction.

Automatic trucks gets more mpg than the old manual trucks which save trucking companies millions on fuel and from burnt clutches.
I seen tesla semi trucks in Nevada and Cali. They save money with letting the electric trucks climb the mountains.
Truckers should focus on the money and industry improvement instead of transmission gears 😂
