I live in Savannah. and have dined at The Pirates house. I was a Tavern for rooms to let when ships came into port. It's haunted and most of the restaurant is added on. It sits in the original plot of land given to Oglethorpe, the people who were running the state would meet there. It is in the oldest part of town. Some of the houses around the Pirates house are dated about the same age. I've lived here for over 30 years, and still find new things.
One of the original owners was Herb Traub. He hired the most creative waitresses (yes, back then, we could use the term because men weren't waitstaff). One in particular was our waitress for years and years. Once I wanted an Orange Capuccino. They didn't offer that at the Pirate's House. That did not stop our waitress. She got the ingredients and crafted the coffee just for me. I will never forget that!
So glad you went to Pirates house….is a Savannah landmark..been coming since I was a kid then brought my boys to Church camp for 2 weeks each summer ! Midnight in the Garden of good & evil was filmed in Savannah..Clint East wood…Have fun, your friend Joan ❤
We've been going there for years. Love the shrimp n grits and the dinner chicken. It's fried with honey and pecan topping. It's so fattening but amazing
Wife and I were recently in Savannah with another couple. The four of us ate at the Pirate's House. It was highly recommended. Unfortunately we did have a good experience. Buffet ok but not really good. Apparently they don't refresh the hot bar on a regular basis. The fish had been setting out for a while and was dried out and tough, my wife had one of the salads and very displeased. The couple dining with us got a plate each (not sure what it was called) that had shrimp over noodles with a type of Alfredo Sauce. They didn't like it at all and noted that the shrimp had not been peeled. Also, the service was warm and polite but slow. When I talked to the manager he was very rude. Am sure they have better days but this wasn't one of them.
Did you go to The Lady and Sons while you were in Savannah? Cliche, but not to be missed, at least in my opinion. This place looks very historic. Love how they have the ghost stories on the side of the paper with the kids puzzles, 🤣. I think I would also get the buffet, as nothing on the menu stood out to me. Didn't look bad, just nothing in particular stood out. I wish we would've picked up an Olde Pink House ornament when we were there. I saw recently that they can be purchased online. We did get a Savannah snow globe, but the water has since become cloudy and discolored.
We didn’t get a chance to go to The Lady and Sons. Not this time but there will be a next time! Haha to the ghost stories on the kids side! The ornament at The Olde Pink House was pretty cool!
I do not know many locals who frequent the Pirates House. Before the "tourist explosion" it was way better. I had my HS graduation dinner there and returned many times after. They used to have a great little bar upstairs - but no more. The last time I was there was about 16 years ago - very disappointed - they closed @9:00 - on a Saturday Skip it - all for tourists now.
It’s just what we do! 9 times out of 10 someone who enters a restaurant needs to use the restaurant and for the most part they have to ask where it is.
Funny. You said Savannah Florida in the beginning. 😂
Haha this is hilarious as no one has caught this, not even when I edited it! Thanks for catching it 😂

Thanks for all of this info! We loved all the history the town offers!

Sorry to hear that! We think it was overhyped as well but we enjoyed the history of it all. Maybe they were having an off day or something.
No, yours was pretty standard service and quality for the Pirates House.
Looked so good thanks
You are welcome!
Heard the Ordinary Pub is amazing!
Oh we will have to try that one sometime!
Had the she crab soup and the strip steak. EVERYTHING EXCELLENT…
Good to know! Thanks for sharing!

Interesting! Well we were a tourist so we heard we need to try it lol. We like the history though!
Pirate's House. Possessive.
Okay!
What's up with the rest rooms in every review?

You are only the second person to catch that 😂

$6 for a Bud Lite will never make sense to me
Yeah that is so expensive!
Savannah is in Georgia not Florida
Yes I know lol misspoke that day and only a few people have mentioned the error!
You look like Ryan Reynolds
Haha for real?? Thank you! That is a compliment for sure! I really appreciate that!
Dude, you need to get off the crack here in Savannah Georgia not Florida
Haha you are the second one to catch that.
One of the most overrated restaurants in Savannah. The food there is only Meh
Kind of what we thought! It was more about the experience and to say we have been.
It was just ok when we ate there.
Ace the beard, it's Gross
😂
Tourist Trap
We were glad to have experienced it!
