If you keep playing this, I recommend going into video options and increasing your alpha fog density (or however the bottom option is called), it'll help you see your line of sight much easier. Also, you can right click on the map to place / remove waypoints, while holding RMB ingame allows you to pan the camera for increased view range if you don't have a proper scope on the gun.
