Fantastic video and explanations mate. Good to see some real clear and thorough mixing content. Your channel will blow up if you keep up this type of quality content
Most eye-opening for me is how much of that stuff I already do/know of already, as the idea of having many tools all doing light work has come to suit my tastes best over time… which kinda confirms thatif anything it's my initial sound choices that let me down when I'm dissatisfied. Back to work I go!
Bro, you’re too dope! Just found your channel today. Loving and learning a lot from your content man. Subscribed and looking forward to the future vids!
Thanks a ton, your videos have been so helpful and my mixes have just been sounding better. But we are not done yet, my bass is just not cutting through the mix (even in mono), set it to low and it loses energy, but once I get it loud enough it just muddies everything up. I would really like to see your approach on mixing bass. Thanks
Good stuff! Thanks for sharing some insight into your process. I'd be curious to know more about your routing when it comes to kick and bass. You briefly mentioned that you route or process kick and the bass together? That would essentially mean that the bass would end up on your main drum bus? I'm sure it depends on the track as well.
My kick and Bass go to an instrumental buss My drums (without kick) got to an instrumental bus My music Goes to an instrumental bus My FX goes to an instrumental bus That bus has a clipper on it set to -3DB just to stop it peaking. That instrumental bus goes to the stereo bus My vocal bus goes to the stereo bus Hopefully that helps. I would have done a full mix video but honestly they take a long time and my camera overheats but as channel grows I’ll try to give full breakdowns in the future ❤
@@WhoIsAlexElliott Ahh I see! Thank you for the clarification. I have a similar signal flow going but I'll switch it up sometimes. So I'm assuming your 'DRUM BUS' is all the drums minus the Kick & Bass? Then after being processed there those drums go to the instrumental bus? Your content is great and you're an awesome teacher! Keep it up. Your channel is bound to grow.
(I use Logic Pro also) Please let me know where you route the parallel drum compression to? Do you send it straight to the output? I was concerned that you would be adding too much volume. Also when routing your kick separately, are you including the kick in the Parallel compression?
The parallel Compression goes to my instrumental bus along with the music bus, Kick and Bass Buss & Drum Buss. The instrumental bus has a clipper on it to prevent any overloads. The low end kick doesn’t go to the PRL comp bus, but the way that I produce is that I have a layered kick which has top end texture in it and I hi pass that at around 170hx and that does go to the PRL drum bus. Hope that helps
It’s an incredible unit but not sure if UA-cam would care about it too much. But to explain. It’s a midi CC fader controller and can be set to control “modulation” “dynamic” or “volume” on instruments. It’s crucial for automating strings ❤. It’s called nuance and it is a person in France who makes them hand made and does a certain amount each month so you need to be on a waiting list to get them.
Yes! But because I chose that upper kick texture layer sample in the beginning which was in the drum bus. I still got the impression that the parallel is making the kick much bigger. That’s why the layering and sample selection is a key part of the process also!
Thanks for sharing used a few of these today and was amazed
Ahh that puts a smile on my face 🙌
best production content out right now! Would love to see a P11 Abyss video
Ah thanks a lot & Noted regarding the P11 abyss. 👌
Gotta say you’re in my top creators to watch. Nice straight to the point videos and in the genre I’m working with. Props fam.
Thanks bro that’s really encouraging for me!
OMG, that parallel trick with devil loc just changed everything for me. The punch is wild🙌🙌🙌🙌🍾🍾🍾🍾🎊🎊🎊
Crazy right! 🙌🙌🙌🙌

Thanks a lot for the supportive words. I’ll try to keep them coming
Dope vid! It's great to see how you use the P44 (just copped it) and clipping in general. 5db of clipping on the kick was surprisingly transparent!
Sounds like you experienced the same thing as me. Wait till you try it on the master bus 🙉❤️

Fire habibi 🔥I swear I wanted to get away from the screen and start dancing. You just gained a new fan, please do this more !
Hahaha. This has brought a smile to my face. Just to clarify when you say “do this more”. What is it you mean specifically? 😂
This habibi 😂😂 I loved it when you took an OK beat/sound into a whole new world full of characture and life. This takes courage.
@@mhdighermuntazar Ahh awesome Ill keep that in mind
This is amazing, can we please get a breakdown on the compressor!
Sure thing. Did you mean The “P11 Abyss”?

Ahh thankyou. And glad to have you in the channel. Look forward to growing together!
Your sample selection is just 🔥
Thankyou my brother!
Great video. I was already doing what you are (apart from parallel compression). It’s good to know I’m already on the right track.
💯✅🙌 glad I could help you have that clarity
Yeah P44 and Devil Loc Evil combo!! Love it.

Thanks bro. Glad it had some helpful things
If thats what light compression sounds like on that compressor i need it now.
The P11 Abyss? 👀👀
Ridiculous as always. Well done homie.
Glad it helped out brother!

Do you have just the drumBus only without the kick/bass bus going into the parallel Drums?

@@WhoIsAlexElliott but typically that parallel would be without the kick/bass bus? Or you always have a textured lowend roll-off kick in the drumBus?
Yes that’s it.
