Alex, love this.. first things first. You're a tea drinker!!! I went through the same process and returned the desk and eventually made my own custom desk. Two weekends of pain but well worth it. It's hard to get the right balance between value and quality, in almost everything. As long as you can justify it to yourself then that's what counts.
@@AOEarlobe ahh yes. My wife made me a tea drinker 😂😂😂. And regarding the desk it’s good to know it’s not just me and I’m even happier I made the video so others can be aware. For me the closest next desk was £2000 so I was able to live with the blemishes having saved £1600 but I wouldn’t give it my recommendation, but I also love it
Looks niceeee man #Bargain, a good desk is a luxury comfort item doesn't impact on the production mixing etc, but it's great to be comfortable in your studio good desk, good chair, less back pains longer working hours comfortably 😀👌🏾💪🏾
I own the same desk and I've modified it to have a slide draw that goes undernead also got rid of the crappy monitor stand section as I use a clamp on monitor. Its not the best desk but those expensive ones are shocking for the money and not really needed. Its a bit high but you get used to it. I doubt any desk can be worth the crazy prices you see out there. This one is sufficient for a pro setup.
2 Yrs ago, I bought the "Acme Eleazar Wooden 4-Shelf Music Recording" and it's a pretty decent budget desk. It was also assembled for free and it was blemish free😀. But I'm with you... your desk looks pretty good after assembly and for the price I'd keep it. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing also! And thanks for the feedback. I’m quite happy with how it looks. It must have just got damaged in transit but it’s good for people to know that it doesn’t have any protection from that.
@@WhoIsAlexElliott Know that feeling all too well.I agree with you 100% about us smiling inside though.jejejejeje. By the way, what's the size/name & model the computer monitor? Thnx!!!!
@@WhoIsAlexElliott i have a similar type of desk in black. Very sturdy and plenty of rack space. Even though most of my mastering work now done in the box. Look forward to more bids. Thanks 👍
The setup looks really nice. Loving the videos Alex! P I went through the same thing buying a desk for music but also working from home for my day job. Finding a practical and functional desk for the 2 worlds of work is difficult. I wish had a separate room and setup for music and not just a combined office guest room lol . 4yrs later I want to now change the desk to something that is height adjustable.
Ahhh the pains of buying a desk. I did soo much research before settling on this one. I didn’t want to spent a lot because I know I change desk often as my workflow changes and I change and grow. Sometimes I’m mix focussed sometimes producer focussed. Sometimes I want comfortability so I co completely understand. Thanks for the kind words also
Congrats on the new desk mate! Looks great. Gear4Music have a great customer service. You should send them a few photos of what you received, they might give you a few quid back or something. A bit of black hammerite spray paint will have it looking as good as new!
Thanks for the paint suggestion and customer service idea. I’ll give them a shout. It’s an odd one with everthing I went through but I really do like it ha
Bro, I used to have that exact desk (two desks ago). I bought mine from DV247, and it certainly was not as banged up and scratched as yours. It was however never exactly level though, I think the metal frame was warped, and would easily rock back and forth, plus when loaded up with gear in the bays, I had to counter balance it with heavy gear on the desktop to keep from wanting to tip backwards. The wood top is quite nice though. I eventually sold it, mostly due to the height, ergonomically it was too high for me (and of course it’s not adjustable) and I found it uncomfortable. I ended replacing it with a more expensive Session Desk Gustav, which I also later sold and bought a quality but bog standard sit stand desk (so I can set it to my ideal height) and separate 2 desktop rack units, placed on each side and couldn’t be happier. Yours does look good in your room and I hope it does the job for you.
Thanks for sharing. And I also noticed that it was rocking back and forth which was alarming but now I have all the stuff on it, it isn’t as bad. It’s defo not the best quality desk and I think mine got damaged in transit due to it not being well packaged but when I come into the studio I do love how it’s looking. And I went all out when buying my chair so that resolved my comfortably thing. I’ll see how it works out over the coming months and thanks for dropping a comment!
Desk looks bangin! I went down the expensive desk route a while back, was even looking at one of those Monkwood ones which is crazy. At this point I think music setups change so often with new gear or moving house or just for the sake of freshening stuff up I don’t want to drop 4k on a desk unless it’s going to be a forever thing and loads of great affordable options now that it’s no big deal if you want to change up your rig in a year or two. Great video. Also, does your soundbar block your tv?
I completely agree. I bought a a desk for £1000 last time and struggled to resell it because it ends up being collection only in most cases as they are too difficult to ship. So unless I plan to keep it forever then it doesn’t make sense to go expensive. I’ve changed set up and desk so many times. So you’re completely right when you say I don’t have any pressure about swapping this one out in the future. Regarding the sound bar… it’s low enough that our eyes can see the bottom of the screen and also when watching movies they have the black aspect ratio bars at the bottom and the top. 🙌
@@WhoIsAlexElliott Ah nice, about to swing for a Sonos soundbar but its going to cut a couple inches out the bottom of my TV and was looking at getting one of those Ikea Lack shelves and just sitting it on TV stand under my TV but might just give it a shot the way you have it and see how I go. Thanks man.
@@dylanhughes4548worked out great for me. Let me know how you get on. Hopefully it’s fine. The sonic improvement is worth it. I hardly go cinema anymore 😂
The width of that center section is 70cm at its most narrow point. And I just measured 68cm which is the length of Sub37 and it fits. So I think you’d be safe 🔥👌. Just hope yours arrives in better condition that mine. 👏

Great desk at this price point just manufacture quality checks and packaging is a let down.
I payed £110 for My desk, its small, they built it and delivered it, its nothing special but holds what I want in a small space. The dest You have there and other more expensive ones of that style simply would not fit in My bedsit.
I understand. This is the biggest desk I’ve ever owned. I usually have a much smaller one that is wide enough for a 49key keyboard. £110 and getting exactly what you need is great!
What a pretty Couple 😌 …congrats for the new Desk Alex✨👍
