the way the kpop industry are normalizing 14 year olds becoming an idol practicing and working 24/7, needing to lose weight at a very young age, being mistreated by your company and etc is very disturbing....
I wanna know what the parents are thinking letting them go into such an industry
Fr, these extreme diets etc can hurt their mental and physical development VERY badly, they could have serious issues later in life.
exactly. i get that it’s their dream, but they should at least try to enjoy their youth for a while before giving their lives away. because let’s be honest, the industry is cruel and cutthroat and there’s a lot of sickos in higher up positions that will try to exploit these kids due to their naïveté.
This is basically what the entertainment industry is doing to kids and teens
I blame the parents and the adults in this situation
they were doing this a long time ago
i worry about idols who are under the age of 18, it's so dangerous for them :(
right, like TRI.BE (literally has a whole 14 y/o), Enhypen, STAYC and some more
i agree with netz (for once) on this, they need to enjoy their childhood more
@@minghaoisforthelesbians1725 tbh usually their dream is to become an idol and in music, and their childhood is mostly of school
You should worry about even idols over 18

Well you're officially an adult at 20 in Korea so there's more room to be abusive to minors there. Scary stuff.
WTF? Only getting 8 months to one year in jail for hitting underage kids with baseball bats is incredibly insane. That's why producer's managers and CEO of this crap companies never learn their mistakes if this was in my country I think they will get 15-30 years of life sentence it's literally Child Abuse and Human Rights come. And in my country it's not tolerated and is strictly followed.
EXACTLY!! If this was America he would’ve been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse (biased on how severe that one members injuries sounded) attempted murder and so-on
In America a misdemeanor (a minor wrongdoing) is about 1 year, but a full blown felony will get you 4 to 10 years
Drug dealers and people who buy illegal drugs get longer sentences... I'm not justifying that, but I definitely think it's ridiculous child abuse gets a shorter sentence than that.
@@whatislove4787 South Korean's way of managing drugs are just straight on stupid anyway. Even in Turkey using drugs are okay as long as you dont sell it because what those people gonna do when they want to get rid of the addiction?
I hate this because in my country people literally try to kill others and when they fail they get NOTHING.
LITERALLY NOTHING.
I can't believe that the CEO and Producer got such short jail sentences after what they did to those poor guys
Yeah Koreas legal system is out of wack if you ask me. A heinous crime can get you a year or 2 in jail like how??
exactly, if this happened in the US, youll be getting more years in prison, about 5-7 years or if the case is more serious then more than that
but nowadays the US justice system is little fucked up now
Which CEO and producer? Of the east light?? If so yes it makes me so mad that they only got a short sentence for everything they went through...
It wasn't even just PX101, they rigged every season. They screwed over so many trainees and former idols
@@minghaoisforthelesbians1725 tbh almost all Justice systems are messed up now. In the U.S is getting worse and worse everyday
can we just appreciate the fact that this channel exists? she spent so much effort on this and it shows.

YESSS RIGHT!!!
Literally
As a video editor there is a super lot of work gone into just the video not to mention the research and voice-over it's so well done.
FACTS
I had to pause after you talked about those pranks. That was absolutely horrible. All of them. I hope those people that were pranked are okay.
I was totally appalled at that section.
Fr. That show “Pranking Flower Boys” was absolutely horrible, too. Jaehyo from Block B was on it. He’s got horrid stage fright and doesn’t really enjoy appearing on camera alone, especially for videos (despite his being the visual lmao), so he was already noticeably awkward and nervous, but then they started pulling this mean-spirited “prank” where he gets screamed at, grabbed, even hit, if I remember right. It was awful. I genuinely can’t believe that show was allowed to air.
I can't believe those pranks. I absolutely think those people should be punished by jail. It's freaking disturbing!!!
@100K Subscribers Without Any Video Challenge can we talk about how the kidnapping one was straight sexual assault. forcing a man who thinks he is going to die to kiss you is absolutely disgusting.
My heart literally broke when that child thought that he had shot his BEST friend. Absolutely NO ONE should go through that. It wasn't funny, it WAS NOT a prank. All I could say was "how could they?" Over and over. Did they have to take him to the hospital afterward? They all should be sued.. Especially his friend who should have protected him and knew better. When he was screaming and crying I started crying myself. The look of absolute horror on face was gut wrenching and tore me apart......shame on them!!!
The girl getting punched by the guy with the clown hair makes me wonder how many secrets Idols are hiding form us
Wow😬
Exactly, and that goes for all artists there, even bts sadly, there's a lot happening behind cameras that we never found out about. Just because some stan out there will say "noo but their CEO helped them all their life!" doesn't mean that's the way things go in business world.
Some artists/idols are luckier than others, but that doesn't mean they weren't silenced at some point due to contract or even psychological/physical abuse.
I'm just glad the group I'm a fan of have so much support from the fandom and I truly hope all their wounds have been healed by now. 💜
@@Sea_witch_ yeah. I remember bts saying that they edit their videos a lot. They don't show everything that happens.
That's a huge red flag.
@@yolandazamani5776 While I agree that sexual abuse is definitely occurring in excess (even with the boy bands), them editing the videos is not alarming in of itself, and is common practice.

Honestly I've always had this thought but when you take a step back from a kpop stan mentality, you realize how messed up the kpop industry is...

I personally think underage teens should not debut, the amount of work idols have is insane and I'm sure is not physical and mentally good for developing teens
Yes. I don’t think they should undebut if they’re already in a group, (they worked hard to get there and I imagine it would be somewhat heartbreaking) but there should be a higher age limit. Fans hate on idols so much on top of sexualizing them. So many idols have to drop out of middle and high school. These idols should get a chance to have a normal childhood away from fame.
I agree with you, I won't want any kid to go through that stress, plus don't forget the haters, can a child whose brain is not fully developed handle them when grown ups are getting trumatized by haters.
The amount of pedophilia in kpop is so Bad also with sopa ofc. These entertainments Debut literally children to perform infront of old men and the cute concepts make it even worse. If we Look at the amount of male Fans izone has and think about the fact that like majority of them where underage when they debuted makes me sick. There Should be a rule that people are not allowed to Debut until they are legal as long as there are no stronger Actions against weird Fantasies some people have. I am not saying that groups shouldnt have male Fans but a lot of the older "Fans" are there for the wrong reasons
Japan's idol industry is even worst, their fanbase basically consists of grown up men. In a lot of their showcases there's no teenage fans ever to be found. Both industries that debut really young kids are so creepy.
Sophia Ortega ohhhhhhh yes. The Japanese are VERY comfortable providing products and services to actual pedos. Child sexual abuse and r-pe are entirely normalised in Japan. At least korea is starting to work towards resolving this issue. Things are starting to really change following the nth room crimes. There's a huge fight underway between sexist men and radical feminism and the feminists are winning and have broken a huge amount of ground in the last few years.
@@mistressofstones Bless them. This is why we must never, ever stop fighting. We must protect ourselves and one another by any means necessary.
@@mistressofstones what exactly is changing? Kpop companies are debuting literal children like they never did before. Before it was kinda rare and they were at least 16 (which is already sickening) but now? Every group has 14 year olds and fans are praising them… this really has to change :(
What's sopa?
The amount of redacted/muted words here regarding sexual assault is disturbing...
I wish they weren't muted tho, or that there'd be subtitles at least. It's a bit jarring and makes it harder to follow what's going on for us ESL people when there's crucial words missing
ikr? it is so stupid
youtube is getting worst with censoring
UA-cam is a company. All they can do is demonetize a video and tank it in the algorithm. They've bribed creators into censoring themselves.

The “prank” tier reminded me of this one video I watched (I guess it was an escape room they were in?), Lucas and Hendery from WayV were supposed to “escape” from this frog room. Lucas has a bad fear of frogs, but Hendery has a TERRIBLE phobia of frogs. You can tell Lucas was trying to protect Hendery. The frogs were in a tank but somehow one was on the floor. Lucas started freaking out, Hendery too. He was so scared he was climbing the walls and clinged to the ceiling for dear life. Hendery was also trying to open the door yelling “get me out of here”. As someone who has a horrible phobia of needles I can’t imagine how scary it was for Lucas and Hendery to be put in that situation.
@Anna's randomness WhoCares I can’t imagine how she felt, shame on producers who take advantage of idols’ phobias for publicity
I remember WJSN did a photoshoot underwater and SeolA was freaking out the whole time due to her fear. She was crying while begging and pleading to not do it, and it was hard to watch her go through that.
i remember lovelyz got "pranked" with basically being told they were being disbanded (on a day where they were all really happy no less) and it took them all sobbing for them to even get informed that it was a prank.
Same I have a terrible phobia of Frogs !! This one incident when there's one frog in the middle of our walkway I literally stand there for 1hour waiting for my brother to come home and pick the frog so I can finally rest inside our house since it's already 11 PM , imagine dozens of frogs inside that room 😩
pranks shouldn't at all harm the receiver or make them uncomfortable. it's disgusting that the producers of that prank even thought it would be funny.
There are some seriously dark parts of the kpop industry and I think it’s really important that we talk about them and bring them to light. There needs to be a change in how idols are treated - they are human beings, many are literal children ffs (I don’t think minors should be idols at all, but that’s a different topic).
Nothing will change because fans will blindly consume kpop. They will say 'xyz company' is trash but then buy products and music from them. The kpop industry needs to be boycotted, stop money flow to it until they change. But people are unwilling, even during these covid times, fans are splashing the cash on albums and merch like sheep
Not just kpop but the whole music industry
i agree. i think that diet culture needs to be ABOLISHED but it’s ingrained in their culture so idk how much it’ll change (if at all in the future). and i agree about the kids. some of them are still so young and haven’t even figured out who they are as people yet, but they’re dedicating their entire lives to a system that might not even choose them.
@@hsnrb9959 Well they hate company not groups
@@hsnrb9959 boycotting the music industry will only cause an economic crisis in the country which will affect the citizens. It's certainly not what should be done. It sounds effective in theory but it will cause more harm than good. The government should step up and start implementing concrete laws but what do I expect from a country where rapists are only sentences for 2 years.
I think NCT's sasaeng's are the worst you can come across nowadays. Some of them even go to the lengths of camping outside their dorm just to see them when they leave. And I believe one of them snuck into a pizza place NCT were supposed to record in through the air vent and took pictures of them I think it was after they finished recording. They really cross the line to the point that it made Yuta, one of the members flip them off and the sasaeng that he flipped off tweeted about it saying they were disappointed in him for using that finger 💀
They deserve to be put in there place these shitty fans need a wake up call
yuta just did the right thing. and they were disappointed? yuta should feel disappointed for these sasaengs' wrongdoings, not them. sasaengs are the worst. they're so fucked up.
Yes, Jeno saw this sasaeng when they are in a pizza place show .
One of Yangyang’s sasaengs hates Kun because of the time he tried to protect Yangyang from her.
She purchased a plane ticket next to Yangyang and made him uncomfortable until Kun got up and made Yangyang switch seats with him.
She also used to be a Mark sasaeng.
And let’s not forget Yangyang said he prefers texting because phone calls legitimately *scare* him. He’s always worried that it’s a sasaeng who got a hold of his number. This is not okay.
@@user-nu4wz7se6t fr, that sasaeng honestly deserved a big ass punch so they should've been grateful that he JUST did that
The "pranks" made me cry. Who in their right mind thought that was entertainment?! It was literally just psychological torture. I just hope the idols got over the traume that they must have experienced from that.
The one he thought he shot his best friend broke my heart, you can clearly see how trumatized he was😓
especially that one with bomi from apink, that was literally so cruel.
I don't understand why they call them pranks, it doesn't seem like it's intended to be funny for anyone. Making you believe you killed someone you clearly care very much for. No one saw how distressed he was and thought it was time to stop it? Not to mention most of these victims are children. I think Jungkook of BTS was only 16 when they did that stupid AHL kidnapping prank. He said he thought he was going to be sold off and he cried thinking he'd never see his parents again. Just why?

Kpop become so dark and toxic at this point. Fans getting out of the hands and trying to solve the idols problem just by sitting in the internet by making malicious comments about the person they believe that he or she is wrong. Kpop entertainment using those fans saesang and obsessive behavior as a business.
But don't forget at the end of the day
Kpop is just a differ genre music and half of the idols being mistreated cuz of their own fans desire. You don't have to give your whole life to your idols who don't even know you.
@Ellayza Elyes obviously all fandoms and media have a toxic side, but there are so many layers of issues within both the industry and the fandoms that makes the kpop industry really dark
It always has been
@@crystalvulpix20 Check our the slave contracts in the American music industry. They are not so different. In fact Kpop industry is influenced mostly by the west.
The only difference is media treats these incidents in American industry as isolated events while generalises the Kpop Industry
@@AS-po9om I wouldn't really compare the two because of the complete difference in industry and culture- sure, US artists also deal with issues like stalkers and criticism, but the whole nature of the kpop industry and idols being marketed as 'ideal boyfriend/girlfriends' normalizes a lot of issues like stalking, beauty standards, body dysmorphia and toxic competitiveness between fans. I'm not saying that it doesn't exist in the US music industry, but people tend to be more open-minded and music-focused there, while it's more fan-service and idol/image-based in korea

You see the music videos and the photos and videos of idols interacting with fans or doing vlives together, laughing and having fun. And we don't recognize or acknowledge the dark side until videos like these or lawsuits are made. My Heart broke so many times during this video.
@Anna's randomness WhoCares i know all these bad things happening but i still enjoy watching my favorite idols live zheir dream and the music so i am definatly pro idol. But people often dont realize that its not just the kpop industry that has these problems and dark sides to them but rather any industry has pretty fucked up sides to them. This stems from human being unperfect being and every person having their own believes nd grieves so there isnt really anythin g we can do but support our idols and groups. Also the kpop industry in itself is a very young industry in its running existence it only spans about 30 years and the korean politics are just getting around to enforcing laws against slave contracts for example and also underaged idols not being allowed to be on tv after i think 10 pm. Also we cant forget that the trainee system has its good points too as the trainees are tought a lot of importnt things by their mentors such as ethics and sex ed wich a lot of korean citizens dont get exxplicitly told in normal schools. Being n idol is not just about being a talented performer but also about the person or character they represent to those they want to influence which is the reason those scandals about idols hating on fans or doing unlawful things get blown up way more then they would for example in the american industry. Change takes time but i do believe its appening as u can with the law enforments and fandom culture changing.
Also when I said we as fans can't do anything about it I meant that we can't do anything to change all industries being dark or corrupt. We do however have the power to report malicious comments or rumors. We can also try to change things trough petitions sinc3 the kpop fandom is so big. I do believe in changes that we can invoke like getting sm to finaly do something about nct saesangs always calling them or shining light on things that sseem off to us like that group the eadlight were we could clearly hear something happening in the background of the video or the girls not being allowed to put something over their legs and another member being scolded or possibly hit in the background
I personally think there should be no idols younger than 16. I also think that the normalized age group for idols to debut should be changed to older, like early 20s. The fact that there are so many minors and teenagers debuting as idols says a lot about how the kpop industry views attractiveness: child-like...
I think it should be like no idols should start training under 16 with the Korean harsh idol training. I listen to Japanese groups, some are pretty young..like 14 yo but I don't think Japanese music industry treatment and training is the same as the Korean?
@@caremyu yeah, in a Japanese group hkt48 one of the members has literally just turned ten apparently..
@@AmberLizzieBow444 yeah they proably didn’t know I def remember that lil girl even saying she wanted to join bc of Sakura
I believe if it's a minor. A parent should be involved. If the company doesn't like it, so be it. Parents are the protectors of their children. I understand that if your child wants it so bad and you won't let them at a such a young age. They'll hate you at moment. But no matter what you as their parents. You are looking out for their well being. 12/13 y/o is to young to be a kpop idol. They should be going to school. Let them have a childhood first. When they are of age. They can be whatever they want to be. They would be more mature. But asian culture is very different. Fame and fortune. Gives you a better future. But at what a cost. So sad but true. This happens in every country not just there.
I think they should start training at 16 minimum and debut at 18 minimum. Fame is detrimental to adult mental health, so children shouldn't be exposed at all.
the sopa scandal still shocks me to this day

The idol groups who are under companies that allow them to do anything from seeing their families, to eating well, to taking care of them if/when a sandal arises. They are so lucky they're taken care of. I feel bad for idols who debut under 18 years, because they're still children, and their childhood is taken from them. And they're more vunerable to sasanges, like what happened to enhypen, and they didn't even fully debut yet when they got attacked by sasanges. The fact that according to k-pop standards I would be considered overweight, but in reality I’m on the verge of being underweight for my age and height. Like wow, how can you expect every girl to weigh the same even when one is 5.6 feet and another 4.9 feet. So messed up!
Fr I'm also underweight for a 5'7 girl while my best friend who is 5'0 is underweight for her height and I get fatshamed, like what??😭
I wish more people talked about the slave room scandal. We don't even know if authorities are doing something about it and it's frightening, both for the idols and the people forced to participate in it
I really don't get the idea
Fans don't allow their idols to date of fall in love just because of some imaginary bubble in their head which is so far from reality (which mind you their idols are not even aware of)
THIS IS DOWN RIGHT SELFISH AND STUPID 🙄
Your video is really informative dear
Lots of love 💜💜
Idols are prepackaged products to idealize and "possess". Their images are carefully curated to support this. That's what their companies bank on. Harsh truth, but a truth.
@@jenniferariesta6464 true very true ..
And how much any one denies this is because of fans..
They just do what markets wants they make and do exactly how people reacts and receive this so if we wanna stop this it's fans stopping and changing rather than expecting company..
Onec fans are ok companies will be absolutely ok
I really people come out of their imagination and see what they are doing 🙄
Yup. Luckily we have people like Hyuna and Dawn making a change in that department now 😊 and hopefully will encourage other idols to be true to themselves and follow love and not give a F 🙏
@@majestieyangxue3014 It will be left to be seen how Kpop fairs when BTS starts dating and getting married. When they can get away with it, then I know the industry can change.
I will NEVER understand fan wars. I literally do not understand why people go out of their way to hate on others. Why can’t we all just love the groups we love and let it stay at that?? Every single idol is also a human being, just like the rest of it. How would these people who engage in fan wars feel if someone they don’t even know starts trashing them online?? They would probably make the biggest fit and say it’s so unjust and that they’d take legal action. Well guess what, these members also have feeling just like you. Please only spread love and NEVER hate!
Jesus Christ, those pranks were really heartless... That first dude, oml, I would sue them all if I were him, the trauma he would develop is serious...
The saesangs are really scary. Imagine how traumatizing it must be.
YEEEES I WAS BEGGING FOR A KPOP ICEBERG
I would recommend Grazy Grace. She is a former kpop idol and talks a lot about kpop conspiracies and her own experiences. She tells her own story and even exposes some of the shady stuff.
the thing is, this kind of shit happens in America too, but it’s way less talked about bc it hits closer to home. TikTok sexualises kids, Disney had their child actors in manipulative and authoritarian contracts, and Hollywood has an extreme history of doing “favours” for roles.
I just wish all industries would be talked abt to the extent of kpop
It really is mostly in the Hollywood aspect (less of tiktok since it’s a social media app) but the Hollywood industry has been corrupt for years. Many actors such as Cory Feldman has come out and spoken with him and his friends’ personal experiences within Hollywood.
It was so painful to learn about these “pranks”. I can’t believe adult people could do such cruel PTSD inducing things for a cheap hype
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT "THE KPOP ICEBERG" IS REFERRING TO BUT I SAW JUNHEE OF A.C.E IN THE THUMBNAIL SO I *HAD* TO CLICK--
edit: just finished watching the whole thing and i get it now. great job compiling the information and sources! things are starting to change in this day and age but there's a looong way to go still.
I actually first came across the term Ahjussi Fan (Uncle Fan) in reference to Sooyoung of Girls' Generation in which it was referenced that she felt she was only popular with Ahjussi fans. I didn't know what it meant at the time and I googled it needless to say if you go by the textbook definition I fit that definition (I'm 35 and my two favorite active groups are Momoland and Oh My Girl).
Sometimes there are older male fans who have unhealthy interests in female Idols but for me, I've always looked at my fandom at least as something akin to the Japanese Otaku concept of "The Adult Friend" the older man who supports and likes seemingly childish things out of a love for those things. Also with The Burning Sun Scandal, it should be noted the dearly departed Idol Goo Hara actually offered to help one of the investigative journalists when the scandal first broke shortly before Hara's untimely passing.
Jpop groups from a project called love live are TARGTED towards grown men and are very successful. The worst part is that even though the real life jpop group aren’t minors, the anime group is. They’re all over Japan so just imagine how many of those Otakus are fantasizing about younger girls...
This video made realize how truly dark and messed up the Kpop business is also I love your videos they are so in-depth
idk why but that jongin bot saying “ite lol” is so funny to me
Time?
@@beautycreambar4330 a day late but it was on 4:58 lol
i wheezed because of that lmao
After watched the entire video, I know I must to give my Idols more appreciations. They have come this far through those terrible struggle.
Exactly! Makes me appreciate all of them, every single one, that much more!!!
exactly!! they work so hard 🥺
since i started to become a kpop fan, i also started day by day discovering a lot of the shit that this industry keeps behind the closet. this always got me so worried about the idols and the naive fans that don't really understand what truly happens. i always think about dropping kpop, but i mean, this is not the solution right? how could we do effective actions to stop this whole iceberg?
i mean, the only effective actions i can think of to stop this, is alerting the whole entire kpop fandom about this iceberg, and we could all maybe make and sign petitions about stopping these things. But idk if that would do a huge change on the entire kpop industry, we can still try but we need to have everyone in the fandom to work together to stop this. But again, I'm still unsure of what the outcomes would be from this suggestion of mine and if it would actually do any huge impact on the industry
for now, all we can really do is give all of the genuine honest support and love to the idols and artists. And give a lot of respect and kindness to them too
Stopping it is ineffective. So is pissing against the wind. Sadly the best you can do is not be a creep and an asshole. Especially as an international fan. Maybe stop rumors from spreading and protect the privacy of idols when t's vaulted - be it reporting videos and doxing and stuff... But overall...
Just like with any other industry only the idols themselves can change their lot by banding together against such things - and it takes a great personal risk. Some, As Got7 succeed, others just get blacklisted and ruined.
Give them common curtsey, don't jump to conclusions on rumors, treat them like people given the chance, and hold the culprits accountable. That's all we can do.
Jessica's departure rumors was published in a local newspaper 5 months before the real thing and I remember it like it was yesterday. It was wiped from existence but you can still find it in Chinese forums
Just having so many minors in the industry just doesn't sit right with me. I dont think that there is enough protection for them.
Thank you for the great video
My mom is a older fan (43) and has been bullied and called crazy by younger fans, even at concerts, it’s gone so far that she didn’t see her most fav artists (bts, skz,..) because she was scared to be bullied by some fans. I hope that some of you realise that if you call a older fan “crazy” “stalker” and “pedophile” you may be taking away their dreams :/
That's bad. No one should be bullied for supporting someone.
Those “pranks” were beyond cruel. Just sick! WTF is wrong with people?!
I can't believe I actually saw the whole video, I told myself I was going to watch only the first minutes but it was really interesting and well made. I became aware of many things I didn't know, thank you so much!!
I think we as fans can only change our dialogue around certain things about idols (drinking, private life, etc), to help change the way the companies handle these things. It's hard to know what fans can to do help more behind the doors type things like ab*se. All I can say is I truly hope things change for the better for these people who are literally my age :(
YES im so glad someone in the kpop community has made one of these!!!!! you are the perfect person to do so as well
Seriously what is this industry?! Saesangs, fanwars, obsessions, (sexual, physical, mental and emotional assult), over working, unfair treatment and payment, lack of freedom and education, body shaming, fake artist personalities, evil pranks, dark illuminati shit, sexualizing artists, su***de attempts and deaths, sponsors. Damn... We love the artists but they are actually slaves.
We need to do something about this. We need to talk more on this and change the Kpop industry.
I love midnight theories

And then there's Beat interactive, whenever a member of A.C.E is sick, hurt, or depressed, they are told to take a break via doctors orders,
chan got into an accident and hurt his knee, he was put on a break to heal, BK needed surgery, he was given a break to heal after, and just recently WOW is having issues with anxiety attacks he is on break to get better.
Beat even gave then a large christmas bonus.
Be like Beat Interactive.
holy shit 10:33 when he thought he shot his friend, this is just intesne and made even me cry:(
The east light boys were so talented too... I hated hearing how horrible they were abused!! I hope they're doing well now and that they get justice!! Edit 2: 53:25 yessss thank you! So many fans think just cuz you're a certain age means that you shouldn't be a kpop fan anymore for some reason! Like since when is there an age limit to liking music? Lol
This video is like a documentary which is so welly done and planned. Everyone working for this deserves a round of applause. Salute to yall!♡
Believe me this bullying incidences is becoming intense than ever in Korea. I never been bullied nor looked down in the 80's but entered the mid 90's up to this day, surprisingly the bullying and racism is so intense that by the end of each day, I felt so exhaustedly sad. Living in that country is depressing. It may look good and fun on tv but it will crash your spirit once you really know and experience the life inside. I was there with my business and yet I had to moved my business out of Korea and brought it to Thailand. One have to have a brave heart and stoned face to get by from everyday life in Korea. I feel so sorry for the kindred spirits ppl who have had been to this bullying added that racism is one of the major issue that everyone is facing in that country.
what sort of thing did you experience?
I remember when BTS was pranked during their early days when they came to America and "someone" stole their tour bus and they of course did not speak the same language as them so they had no idea what was going on, only that (to their knowledge) they were getting literally kidnapped. They got sent to this place and the people there were yelling at them to give them their stuff. You could see they were terrified, I have no clue how that was even supposed to be REMOTELY funny???
The editing is so pleasing to the eyes, keep it up!
This makes me so sad. As much as I love many of these Kpop artist, it makes me not want to support them (the entertainment industry), knowing that they have endured this abuse. It's clear to me, that being kicked out of a Kpop group is not the WORST thing that could happen.
Everybody is usually only talking about the mistreatment of idols by their agencies. Some fans treat them even worse than their agencies and this should be addressed for real. Thank you for your video and shining light on these kind of issues.
the government scandals is so funny to me cause... most of these idols are NOT relevant enough for that 😭 thats like tryinf to say dua lipa is being used to distract americans from our political problems in america
politics is in everything even in kpop hahaha its not as stupid sounding as u put it but what about Britney spears? how are government scandals funny bruh u must be like 12
More like The Kardashian-Jenner dramas, it always work for masses who act and having mentality like sheep. (Edit: In UK probably Prince Harry-Meghan drama) whatever to overshadow more crucial issues that has potential provoking public's rage. In South Korea, that would be idols 'scandals'. Celebrity scandals/dramas being used for distraction by politician is a wellknown modus operandi.
@@prettiestgirlkarai you are correct. I’m always surprised some ppl underestimate all the garbage the media feeds us with celebs like musicians or the kardashians, then you hear they passed a bill like death penalty for getting abortions while we were distracted with who’s dating who. It’s a mess.
They are absolutely real
Fr they did do it with Tupac saying he was making a stop with issues in society the government didn’t like that he was opening our eyes and he died. Which we all knew how Tupac died so idk why they make it so extra
Thank you for the informative video.
As a newcomer to Kpop (and, to be honest, an American man in my 50's) it bothers me very much to hear how horrible the experience can be for the idols.
I have been a musician my whole life, and as a high school teacher, I have worked with teens and young adults for 30 years. I hate the thought of these artists having to endure the type of things you mention here. It makes my professional side just scream at the horrible people who facilitate this abuse. I can only hope it is not the case for everyone!
I am continually fascinated by the compositions and arrangements of the music, and I am impressed by the production of the video content, both MV/practice/performance types and reality show/game show/interview types. I am torn about being a fan and being so captivated by the product, when some of the actual artists are so poorly treated. It makes me want to NOT like the music, because I am being part of the market that pays for it to go on. But it is so irresistable.
I will continue to watch and listen to the music and content, and even continue to make my own dumb reaction videos talking about what I like.
I will also keep my eyes open for any ideas that I see about what we, the audience, can possibly do to make things better.
I don't want the music to stop. I want the industry to gain more integrity.
Long reply, but thank you for this video. You are a valuable resource for us outsiders.

DID YOU JUST APOLOGIZE FOR POSTING THIS LATE?!?!? YOU POSTED A MOVIE MA’AM!!!! WE WILL TAKE YOUR VIDEOS WHENEVER THEY’RE READY, TAKE YOUR TIME!!!!
you’re amazing
this must’ve took so much research and time, love the receipts and examples of incidents used!
when words that’ll get u demonetized are used, maybe you could use abbreviations (i.e. SA for s*x*al as**ult) instead? it is hard to understand the bleeped word without seeing a censored text/given abbreviations, thank you
WoW a 1 hour video, we are so blessed ❤
Hope you enjoy!
I'm already speechless and i haven't even made it to the half ...
I remember a prank that was did on a girl group the company told them that they were gonna disband them some of the girl group members started to cry and was pleading not to be disband.
After all of that the company told them it was a prank and had it all filmed on camera youcan probably watched the video on youtube if they haven't took it down or anything.
It was really sad like you could literally see their faces drop all these pranks needs to stop.
The boyfriend girlfriend method for their fans needs to also stop because this is how you make sasengs let the idols date whoever they want its really sad that they can't even do that.
I also remember all of these i have been into kpop since 2010 anyays so i saw it all and heard it all my mom was also a fan of kpop and she also told me alot the dark side of kpop all of it is really sad and i hope that it will get better.
And even though idols work so much still people hate on them. If i get the chance to meet or see an idol i would be polite and praise them for their amazing work and would NOT ask them to do some weird shit that some "fans" ask them .
i feel so bad, there are some groups (the east light) here that i really loved and just slowly fell out. i didnt even know what happened to them until now. it breaks my heart to listen to their stories here
Peniel said it well, when he said that if companies want their idols to lose weight and maintain it, the least they can do is provide them with the information and support to do it properly. BM also talk about the harsh diet he had to undergo in order to lose weight, and how bad it was to get weighted in front of everyone.
Also how ridiculous it is to weight someone daily. Specially girls, we can gain up to 4 kilos during and before our periods. It’s all water weight that goes away afterwards. They have this kids thinking they’ve gained weight, when in reality it’s normal water weight.
Nice video. There were many things I didn't know, this indrustry seems very wholesome in the surface when you dive deeper it's really dark
I saw a new Midnight Theories video and got excited. I saw the length of the video and almost died from said excitement. I most certainly shall enjoy my stay.
thank you so much for making this video and shedding light on this subject. I learned a lot even though i've been in the kpop fandom for many years.

*UNCLES WHAT IS THAT BEHAVIOUR?!!*
me: oh great!! Midnight Theories just dropped a new video! I'm going to take a break and watch!
Midnight Theories: Drops an hour-long video!
me: ?????? Better get some snacks!
Another fan theory that I stick by and somewhat wish more people knew about is the Winwin situation with SM. Something is going on with the fact that he got basically removed from one group put into another, to the fact that SM doesn't allow him to see his fan's posters or gifts, and his friends and members weren't even allowed to say his name. It could be something in the kpop industry and Chinese idols.
BTW: this is a great video and you compiled so much info
Wow! You really did so well compiling this 😱👏
I cannot explain how much I love these videos and your channel.
I remember when i support Samuel on produce 101 BY HEART. And everyone love him too cause he is so talented. It was surprisingly sad that he didn’t made it to the the group.
I just wanna say thank you. I was struggling to stay awake to finish my project. And then I started watching this. It was so interesting that it kept me awake and concentrate. You're voice is amazing!!
Such a detailed video, I applaud your hard work and don’t apologize for it being late cause this was worth the wait
i feel so bad for the girls bc i know they go through so much, especially first gen idols😔
@10:03 this is awful. This poor man. The video of the 'prank' is so hard to watch. You can tell he really thought he hurt his band member.
I just want to say I enjoy your videos and appreciate the effort you put into them. I've learnt so much about Kpop from your channel. I'm truly happy I found your channel. 'Hope you're healthy and safe.
Your videos are always so interesting and I love them!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for using your platform to share such things, I know that it couldn’t have been easy nor comfortable to have to research and share all of this, I myself refrained form watching because I didn’t think I could handle it, but I watched everything and I’m glad I did, these topics deserve to be spoken of more because these idols are human beings who are losing so much in this industry. Again, thank you, and I hope one day we can eradicate such things in the industry.
Such an interesting and captivating video! I couldn't help myself watching it all at once
But it also made me worried about my faves and what they possibly had or still have to go through. As a fan, I really wish I could protect them from those things.
Thank you so much for making this video. Its very educational and I got to learn the truth about scandals, instead of reading rumors online. It was very helpful.
The fact that this is posted right around the time I’ve been watching so many iceberg videos omg

Thankyou so much for making this ✨ it’s so well done
Left the kpop fandom a few months ago and this came into my reccomended. Great video.
why did you leave?
@@emdawg3 the fans, the industry and the fact its oversaturated. A new group debuts almost everyday with the same concept as the last group that debuted. I still appreciate some idols as artists (the ones i think are genuine and real artists) but i wont be supporting sn industry that programs young teenagers into acting and thinking a certain way so the people in charge of these companies can milk them of their talent, passion and prime years.
Also as ive gotten older, gotten a job and gone to college ive realised how silly a lot of things these fandoms do are. At the end of the day it doesnt matter who is the better group or the competitions (which the industry keeps pushing on these kids who are friends).
Sorry for the essay but those are just some of the reasons.
I still listen to artists like woodz and jamie etc but i dont support the kpop industry as much as i used to.
