I’m an American, and I’m fascinated with Norway. I started to learn Norsk during the pandemic. I want to go there sometime- and when I do, I hope the Norwegian people tolerate me being there!
The potato thing is kinda funny. The first time mom invited Grandad to join us in eating pizza. He sat down at the table and looked around puzzled, eventually speaking up "Where are the potatoes?"
It was a pleasure listening to your reflections of the Norwegian life style. You are a good ambassadeur for us. Wish you a merry Christmas from Northern-Norway:)
moved to Norway 18 months ago, instantly fell in love with everything :) found amazing friends, discovered a new culture and just a lot of amazing stuff has happened since I moved here.
Impressed by how good you actually speak Norwegian and how much of the culture you have understood even if it seems like you spent the most time in western part of Norway. I also respect your determination and persistence in doing the impossible task of bringing a religious message to Norway. We are a secular society except from parts in the southern and western part of the country. Of course christianity is a big part of our historical culture and holidays, but I think that there is less than 20 percent of the people that is really Christian believers, (at least in the eastern part of the country and younger than 70 years).
My mom and dad tried to introduce my grandma to foreign food, they took her to an Asian restaurant. She ordered Norwegian meat balls and potatoes. Mission failed.
Damn, your norwegian is REALLY good! You're absolutely right about "the wall" you need to break through until we warm up to strangers. When I visited the US, it was surprising to me how casually complete strangers would just strike up a conversation with me. I'm just not used to that here in Norway, at least not at the same level as it was in the US. I'm really glad you enjoyed your stay here.
This is also true; we like our food fresh, not frozen or spicy. I don't know why fresh feels so good to us, but it really does. It feels like luxury to me.
Tusen takk for at du lagde denne videoen, jeg var ikke i kontakt med deg her, men er glad fordi du gir et bilde av oss slik vi vil fremstå istedenfor de vanlige karikaturer vi ofte får. Gud velsigne deg også unge mann.
You have the most comforting voice I have ever heard, and your Norwegian was actually really good. I respect u alot and wish the best for you in the future.
There are some dialects that are harder to understand than Danish and Swedish, but the people with them often stay in the cities where they’re spoken! Also, the message in Norwegian at the end was really nice and this guy seems like a really nice person❤️
Oddly enough you kinda nailed the Norwegian culture which shows with your replys from mainly norwegians. We are all drawn towards you and wish you all the best in the future
just love this guy and how he talk about our country Norway. You speak very well Norwegian. I wish you a happy new year and hope that you will get your wish and get back to Norway some day. All the best to you.
I've never heard an American with such good norwegian accent or vocabulary! there is an accent, but it actually doesn't sound American, which I can imagine would be quite hard to master. Hearing others getting a good experience in our country really makes me proud to be a norwegian. some give up easily because we are a nation of personal space 😂 Hope you'll be beack soon to enjoy yourself ever more in Norway :)
Just have too correct you about the «Lutefisk» 😂. Though many Norwegians like it, equally as many or more actually hate that jelly thing. Great video though 🤗👍. PS. Try smalahove next time you visit Norway. 😂
Great video, i'm from Norway and felt really well represented. Almost every thing was on point, except the lutefisk. There is no other food i dislike more.
Holy damn, when i watched your video i thought it would be like any other video about norway, but no.. most of the facts are right, i like lutefisk or lye fish, but many others does not like that. And you caught me really of guard when you started to speak norwegian.. it feelt personal and i was shocked! Amazing work! Keep up the amazing content!
You forgot to visit the most colourful part of Norway. The North. :-) Southerners are ok, but they are closed up like clams. Com to the north, we are a total different people up heer.
I just moved here but so far Norway has been the best country I’ve been to. Germany and France were beautiful but a little bit to much going on all around but Norway seems to be so heavily on just having a nice time and family/mates I just couldn’t get enough of it. It’s not perfect but it definitely feels like it to me. My bf was right to have me go back with him. Have a good day to anyone watching this :) 🇳🇴 also it’s the best country out but Finland does get to be shoeless during classes which is nice af 😍love me some socks
It's actually hard to even find someone in Norway who even likes Lutefisk. My guess is that it's more common on west coast of Norway, and perhaps far up north along coast line.
As a Norwegian I never understood the point of lutefisk. A fish soaked in Caustic soda... food that has been in contact with "plumbo" will never get into my month. All love it? Nope, never, ever. I'll drink the Akevitt, you eat the fish 🤣
Its weird to hear him say that its not messy in the cities. as a norwegian i think its really messy in many of the cities, especially the big ones. If this isnt messy i dont wanna know how messy it is in america
Regarding public transportation, it isn't all that great outside the largest cities. Live in a >50k population city and it would be a challenge to not have a car
I'm a Norwegian of 33 and have lived practically everywhere except not further north than Narvik, and every _single_ thing you say is _spot on_ and well thought out! :)) You seem like a fantastic person, and it must be weird to be a missionary in a country where most people aren't really _anything_ in particular. And I mean literally the majority, unfortunately not everyone registered in the state church are religious nor practicioners, but that's another story. I genuinely hope you do come back, people like you are always welcomed with open arms here! I mean your person! I adhere to the "not-really-anything" myself 😅
for en fantastisk fyr ! :) Mye fine ord om norge men det som jeg la merke til er at denne fyren er virkelig glad i livet å han gjør så godt han kan på å lære. Veldig fin video og stå på videre :D
I have family in Norway, not close family, but 1st cousins a time or 2 removed. I have been once and am going again this fall. This young man is 100% accurate in his description of Norway. We are learning Norwegian in preparation for the trip this time. I grew up believing Norway was a magically perfect place and following a number of Norwegian traditions. My great-grandmother never learned to speak English. I remember my great-grandfather well. He died when I was 5, but I still remember running to see him and his love.
Thank you for your video. I have been interested in learning about Norway after watching another video on UA-cam. I think Norway is so beautiful! Your video described so much in detail the people, culture, gastronomy, language, etc. Thank you for making this video about Norway. I loved it! ❤❤❤
The thing about skiing, it sorta depends on where in the country you are from. Lutefisk as well. Lutefisk is more associated with older generations, normally, but fish in general, yeah... it's a thing here. ;) And heck dude... that was actually very well spoken Norwegian dude. I am actually impressed!
Det var en veldig bra og nøktern beskrivelse av landet jeg er så glad i. Jeg er muslim og du kristen. Det gode med Malaysia er at vi lever alle i god harmoni. Norsken din er forøvrig perfekt. 👍👍
To be fair when it comes to Norwegian christmas and Christ, Jesus was actually born sometime around spring and the celebration we call christmas is just Yule with a new coat of paint and less offerings to weather gods. That said, gledelig jul.
One easy way to learn the typical south east dialect is to master the alphabet and how each letter sounds like, then write the words, then say it out loud. It won't be a hundred percent, but it will make things easier.
All Norwegians, we need to protect this man. I could hear him speak about Norway all day long
we dont all love lutefisk, mostly accurate otherwise though
*every norwegian person who watch a video and someone mention norway*
“OMG! i am from norway!”
I’m an American, and I’m fascinated with Norway. I started to learn Norsk during the pandemic. I want to go there sometime- and when I do, I hope the Norwegian people tolerate me being there!
Nowdays it`s more common to have taco-friday than lutefisk. :D
Spoke good norwegian duude! Understood everything very well
You forgot that we’re really proud of our country 😂 You can tell because a lot of Norwegian people are watching this.
The potato thing is kinda funny.
The first time mom invited Grandad to join us in eating pizza.
He sat down at the table and looked around puzzled, eventually speaking up "Where are the potatoes?"
99% of comments: "Great norwegian dude, youre a good ambassador for us and ... we dont like lutefisk:-)

Damn, your norwegian is REALLY good! You're absolutely right about "the wall" you need to break through until we warm up to strangers. Wow, how you speak Norwegian is just so good. I did not expect that from a person that learned it at this time, just so you know I am from Norway 🇳🇴.
I throughly enjoyed listening to your experience in Norway. Beautiful!
This is also true; we like our food fresh, not frozen or spicy. I don't know why fresh feels so good to us, but it really does. It feels like luxury to me.
My girl is from Norway. She is the kindest person I've ever met, honestly.
Can’t think of something we like less than lutefisk
Me, a Norwegian Minnesotan watching this: **Happiness noises**
This was so refreshing! Much love from Oslo 😊
Tusen takk for at du lagde denne videoen, jeg var ikke i kontakt med deg her, men er glad fordi du gir et bilde av oss slik vi vil fremstå istedenfor de vanlige karikaturer vi ofte får. Gud velsigne deg også unge mann.

Norway is a paradise on earth . Clean and well ordered , and the air is so clean !!
Oddly enough you kinda nailed the Norwegian culture which shows with your replys from mainly norwegians. We are all drawn towards you and wish you all the best in the future

God Jul fra Norge. Nice to hear that you liked your stay in Norway.
You really hit the nail on the head. You have gained an amazing insight into our culture.
I've never heard an American with such good norwegian accent or vocabulary! there is an accent, but it actually doesn't sound American, which I can imagine would be quite hard to master. I would say that you don’t really sond like an american when you speak norwegian, you sound more like a east-european
Im actually very impressed by your Norwegian man. It was very nice listening to u about our lifestyle.😊😊❤
Holy damn, when i watched your video i thought it would be like any other video about norway, but no.. most of the facts are right, i like lutefisk or lye fish, but many others does not like that. Your norwegian is incredible. And your reflections on Norway was rather moving, like a warm fuzzy video! Thank you, and safe travels!
Great ambassador for Norway this guy. Pretty decent Norwegian language you have learned to speak also. Glad you enjoyed your stay, welcome back!
I’m from Norway and i will say that your Norwegian is very impresive!👌
Oh, I WISH it was freezing this year. It's so warm now that I've started seeing small white flowers. Those usually come out in Mars-April.
You forgot to visit the most colourful part of Norway. The North. :-) Southerners are ok, but they are closed up like clams. Com to the north, we are a total different people up heer.

There are 90+ dialects in Norway :). He speaks very good norwegian
It's actually hard to even find someone in Norway who even likes Lutefisk. My guess is that it's more common on west coast of Norway, and perhaps far up north along coast line.
When he starts speaking Norwegian, dang dude, I am proud of you.
U nailed the language!(From Norway)(Fra Norge)
You are so good at Norwegian dude! Gratulerer! Tusen takk!
As a Norwegian I never understood the point of lutefisk. A fish soaked in Caustic soda... food that has been in contact with "plumbo" will never get into my month. All love it? Nope, never, ever. I'll drink the Akevitt, you eat the fish 🤣

i love Norway. i hang Norwegian flag in my room and sometime in frontyard.
Your pronunciations were some of the best I've ever heard from an American. Very close to perfect. The grammatical was perfect. Well done :)
You have the most comforting voice ever dude. Oh and cool insight
Regarding public transportation, it isn't all that great outside the largest cities. Live in a >50k population city and it would be a challenge to not have a car

This guy is so wholesome. I think we're uncomfortable with taking religion because most of us are secular at the core.

Veldig fin video og stå på videre :D

You are always welcome back👍
Ble så imponert av hvordan du snakker norsk! 👏🏼👍🏼

The food isn't spicy but it's savoury, sometimes salty and filling. It's really nutritious too!
Awesome man!! Norway looks beautiful and an amazing country
Jul! Yes, in dark times, one celebrates the light.
Have a blessed holiday, God Jul to you and your family. Very good norwegian. Welcome back. Granny from Norway🤗
I encourage everybody to learn the difference between Christmas (kristmesse in Norwegian) and Jul (jol) what the majority celebrate i Norway.
The thing about skiing, it sorta depends on where in the country you are from. Lutefisk as well. Lutefisk is more associated with older generations, normally, but fish in general, yeah... it's a thing here. ;)

Great video about Norway (my home country), but the public transportation sucks in Norway when you go just a little bit outside the biggest cities!😅
Haha, you seriously nailed the norwegian! 10/10, wish you all the best
Veldig bra video! Likte det veldig.... keep it up mate!
Aw, welcome back brother! Happy to hear you enjoyed your time in Norway :) your norwegian is amazing, but yes, you do sound like an american ;)
Potatoes and fish/meat are my favourite food, and I will protect this man with my life - Norwegian part Danish
You were informative, interesting and well spoken. Well done young man!
I am Norwegian and love your video 🤗❤️❤️❤️
I am not religious, but nice people are nice people no matter what they believe.
I hope you will come back to Norway and enjoy it. :)
