I have been using Wick for almost 2 years and I learnt a lot of things throughout my journey, it's genuinely underrated and more people starting with animation need to use it! It's kind of like Scratch, but with less limitations such as the 480p project size and 30 fps! Wick has no watermark, no fps cap, no resolution cap, although the sound can be a bit confusing and not as optimizable as the other features. Definitely give it a try, they even have tutorials on their own channel!
I second this. The layout and workflow of Wick is very intuitive, and similar to Flash. It can even do symbols and motion tweening. I also find it to be much more stable than some of the other animation freeware out there.

My main bone to pick with Wick, is that it can't operate like Flash, and I go nuts trying to port my assets between the programs.
My main problem, is just... *Object Drawings*. They're Flash features that basically turn every Object into a Symbol, without turning it into an actual Symbol.
Some reason, Discord has trouble processing mp4 files made with Wick, where the video is frozen, and the audio keeps going. It works fine on VLC Media Player, but trying to upload it on Discord has problems.
I originally started with Pivot, it was really easy to use, especially for stick figures. However it gets a bit challenging when trying to make animations with dialogue, that's why I switched to Flash.

Pivot Master I actually never used that feature, but I mean with voices and not text. I used to put mouthes and eyes on the stick figures and then add in voices later. It was a very long process.

The Wick Editor is my favourite Flash alternative. Tweening and nesting animation features work really well.

@Lancer Chad Pagalana Google Slides Is what I began using recently and when I want a faster frame rate I download the frames (after having them in seprate slides which I typically do anyway) convert them and use a gif maker to make the animation as fast as I want.

It’s the software I’ve been using to create my animations for the past year
I've been using Pivot Animator since 2013. You can stretch a certain part of a stick figure by holding ctrl and dragging it anywhere. Enlarging a part hold alt and drag it outward to enlarge and vice versa. Ctrl alt rotates the pivot by where the mouse is at the pivot part as the center. You can also import sprites but ctrl and alt does the same thing (squeezes them).
can you add other images to put over the stickman? I was thinking of using pivot to make a csgo animation but i don't know if you can add, example: a specific gun so the stickman can hold it, is it possible?

Alan Becker, you may've saved me from having to force myself to give into Adobe's ridiculous high price monthly creative cloud subscription, I appreciate the hard working effort of tracking down every possible alternative free versions of flash that we can check out for ourselves and ill make sure to pick out my new Adobe Flash program replacement, so thanks a million!

How do you make onion skin in Vectorian Giotto?
You need to be very careful with some programs, (mainly from third-party downloading sites) especially without "external" antivirus programs (ones you have bought) although windows does decent it fails to detect alot, and even with good antivirus programs you still need to be very careful with what you agree to, for example some installers ask if you want *-X-* program to come with or something like that. I apparently got a Trojan horse virus from downloading some video editing software that was legit but the installer was weird and I skipped most of it, thankfully I do have a good antivirus though. This turned out longer than I was thinking but I hope it helps someone.. If anyone takes the time to read this that is lol.

There are a TON of cool tricks you can do in Pivot! It's amazing what it can do. And Stykz is another cross-platform stick figure animation software that even accepts Pivot animation files.
And with ALT you can rotate and change size on PIVOT 4
I recommend 2 things for animating:
- Firealpaca to draw the frames
- GoPlay Editor to add music, filters, and more + upload it straight from there

The Wick Editor software mentioned is basically the ultimate bargain bin Adobe Flash; In my opinion, Wick is just as great, if not better than Flash, and thanks to the software, I can now easily make browser games and cartoons with more complex characters without going through the hassle of using TextEdit/Notepad or doing traditional animation. :D
Alan if you hold ctrl and move a stick figures limbs around you can shrink or stretch them on pivot animator.

Macromedia Flash (Flash before they got bought by Adobe) is free to use. it has all the functionality of flash (without newer features tho)

I'm 11, and me and my friends in my class all use pivot animator to make animations, and we are all fans of your animations. On pivot animator they also (Just in 5 Beta) have a knob that you can be able to get from one place to another smoothly, by choosing how many frames in between, without having to make every single thing

i tried it and at least this version is full of bugs, i drew a circle and it crashed... many decently long animations i was proud of have been destroyed to this buggy program...

Pivot was the very first website I actually liked. back in 2007 during the summer, I would meet up with my friends and battle about who has the better animation.

pencil 2d is a good software, but for some reason when I export it just completely glitched out.

It depends on your style but one great option for IOS and Android is StickNodes! The community is amazing and its free and if you throw in around three bucks you can get the pro version with sounds! The whole software is basically PIVOT with color and you don't have to make the figures just go to Sticknodes.com and there are thousands of different stickfigures ranging from Yandere simulator all the way to Dragon Ball Z! and you can add background too! You can also make some pretty cool stickfigures yourself! if you want to see some really good animations than I suggest you check out D4v1dd on youtube. He makes loads of cool animations!

using wick just saved my life from spending countless hours drawing millions of frames in paint 3d and having to name them and after that i go to capcut and then finally put the frames but i suddenly realize THE FREAKING FRAMES ARE IN THE WRONG ORDER. thanks alan.

Been using OpenToonz for a while now, just recently found out how to connect a mesh to another mesh’s skeleton which is extremely handy.
Alan really needs to make an updated version of this video since everyone seems to be mentioning pivot on the comments.

If you want to get a good flash replacement, get Tacoma or Open toonz. From my experience they can do everything Adobe Animate can. And I just found out that the public school I go to got adobe creative cloud for us all even if you don’t go to a class for it. So you might have adobe animate without even knowing!

You CAN actually change the length of sticks in Pivot Animator by holding Shift and dragging a stick.

Pivot now has a version 5, now its better than ever and its said to be comparable or even better than apps like animate by the time version 6 drops

Sometimes I’d hear about things and not care about them but later in the year I’d want to learn about them. That’s the same with flash
Well look what Pivot has become, Pivot 5 came out and now it's possibly the closest animation program to function like adobe. There are inbetweens and other stuff but it still has only joints and other stuff that adobe doesn't include in it's program. But yeah, Pivot just raised it's score.
