      Well, what would happen? Explosion? What have you personally experienced. I did trip 3 HP switches. Thanks

      Hydrostatic pressure can develop pop the relief there goes a few hundred pounds of refrigerant,had it happen undersized receivers found in multiple stores

      @ralphgiampietro85 thank you for the information. So i've never experienced that. But I will keep that in mind in the future and I will make sure to not assume that high pressure switches will protect the relief valve.

    Would it have been easier to just shut the sysem down. Isolate the drier and recover and refrigerant in the shell and pump into the rack. Then just replace, evacuate and reopen valves. Then turn rack back on. Just a thought?????

      i think its better to keep any possible liquid that would be stagnant in the suction lines, from possibly getting back to the compressor during the off period, and have rough or harmful start ups on any of the compressors. i believe Pumping down is the best for the equipment, and simply shutting down mid cycle is NOT recommended by Bitzer, Copeland, or any other compressor mfg.
