I would class myself as a 'Level 1' DIY enthusiast. With this video, i was able to do this entire job on my 2007 GSX-R 750 and i also had the shock rebuilt and with an appropriate lighter spring. Bought a LOAD of tools including an industrial press (love that thing) for the cushion level bearings...makes thins SO much easier. I have just finished putting the swingarm back together including the lower linkages...SO tight but so glad I have replaced it all. Thanks for the great video content. You aren't available in the UK but please consider expanding overseas and I would have happily purchased all the parts from your site. Thanks again John!
Swingarm bearing removal was successfull with a Blind bearing tool using a stout metal rod. Tightened the collet into the bearing and using a stout metal rod from the other side used the collet as the striking surface, drove the bearing out in a minute. I heated the swingarm bearing area before. Used the same method for the cushion bearings as well.
I had to do the exact same thing. Slide hammer wasnt moving the bearing, and even a puller wasnt working. Tried with a rod from the other side and it was just pushing the collet out - finally heated the area for 5 minutes before hand and that did the trick. Wish I had read your comment earlier!
Good video... I drove my old bearings out with a punch... pretty easy with a heavy hammer.. BUT the center tube that acts as a spacer for the bearings is soft aluminum and gets damaged by the punch. So if you plan on driving them out, you will need a new center tube along with the new bearings. Keep up the great videos! Jeremy
Hi guys, outstanding information, very well explicit, organized, presented, easy to understand vocabulary, must kind of you for shearing with us those technical tips, keep up the good work.
To be honest. I think it's better to pay a professional such as yourself than to go out get all the tools and do it myself.. I did not expect swing arm bearings to be such a task. Thank you for the video.
Hi I had to do some needle roller bearing on a Honda leaver arm but all the needle rollers had come out so I was left with just the outer part of the bearing so I used a dermal grinder with a grind stone I cut some groove to the casing so then I could force the outer casing to collapse in on itself to get the bearing but used a draw bolt system to put the new needle roller bearing in
Ive done this a few times putting extended arms on. I chose one time to re use the pivot bearings and swap them over to the new arm instead of just paying $30 for new ones installed.I can tell you I did not have that fancy tool to remove them and walked right into a nightmare. I believe it took about an hour to get them both out by hand... Def buy the tool if they have to be removed lol
Major job made to look so easy by this guy. Think I'm gonna get the bearing extractor kit and then go for the threaded bar n washers using sockets. Awesome step by step video.thankyou.
So im dressing up my gsxr, and i have a titanium nut for the left side nut to the swingarm pivot shaft. Can i just pull that left side not off and put the new one on and torque it to the 75 pounds? Or do i need to pull the the left side nut and right side nut and re torque shaft and both nuts in the sequence you do in the video? Any information or input you have i appreciate it! Thank you
please link the specific tool that you used to remove the bearings from the swingarm. i have been purchasing tools for 2 weeks and cannot get anything that will grab the bearings and pull them out of the swingarm
Slide hammer didn't work for me. Wasn't enough 'slide' to get the momentum to pull the bearings. I ended up putting the collet in the bearings and using a bar from the other side. Tapped out nice with a club hammer
Congratulations on your great work, it is a reference of knowledge. Unfortunately in Brazil it is very difficult to have the original parts and these tools special, which makes a procedure like this something unreal. But we do with what we have at hand. If you offer merchandising from you I will buy it in the future. Thanks for the videos.
well im looking at yam but im guessing pretty much the same so thanks very much i just wanted to check, also thanks trying different parts how to remove them when don't have all the kit very very cool thanks
My service manual doesn't say that I have to disconnect the drive chain to take off the swing arm. Is it necessary to remove the drive chain? If I have to remove the chain, that would mean I would have to buy a new master link, right? I don't use clip ons.
Where can I find the same Torque measurements for the same part just for a 2007 gsxr 750 I just Recently took my swimg are off i just want to make sure I had the correct ft lbs gear video buy the way
I got a problem with the bearings of the monoshock of my bike, one of them was in a pretty bad shape so i needed to replace it, sadly i didnt find the same bearing, so i tried to use a bronze piece to replace it, you think it was a good idea?
John is live every Friday afternoon on UA-cam to answer questions via our chat. It's normally at 3PM eastern, but today, 10/1, we're doing it at 2:00 because of a scheduling conflict.

Every time I see your channel for something I watch it even if I don't need it.

I always come here first besides other outlets to educate myself on the hobby I love. Great ViDs!!👍🏼as always.
You are the man, I can listen to your voice all day . Keep the good work
Well done. Just the right amount of explanation and the right speed. This is how you do that. Brilliant
Excellent tutorial. Thanks for taking the time to teach.

Was wondering where you are placing the motorcycle jack with out damaging anything.

Done it on a 98 gsxr 600 and my bfh came out ok but it did put up one heck of a fight
How do you lift the bike without damaging anything underneath
Thanks for this video. What is the name of special tools you are ising here?
thanks, just what I needed.
Hello! Can you give a link to the repair kit for the Suzuki GSF 1250 bandit 2007 release ???!
please link the specific tool that you used to remove the bearings from the swingarm. i have been purchasing tools for 2 weeks and cannot get anything that will grab the bearings and pull them out of the swingarm

Perhaps a comment about WHY the swingarm bearings would need to be replaced please John Tally.
Is he lifting the bike on the oil sump? Is that durable enough?

www.partzilla.com We ship to Brazil!
I used the rod method, applied a bit of heat carefully, to swingarm metal, and woalla, it almost popped out of itself
Great video. what kind of grease are you using
Derwin Smith looks like Yamalube race grease
well im looking at yam but im guessing pretty much the same so thanks very much i just wanted to check, also thanks trying different parts how to remove them when don't have all the kit very very cool thanks
This is tough!
Do all your repairs on this bike only. I have the same bike!!!👌👌👌👍
Do you have the Torque amounts ???do you know how many links do I have to cut off on 520 Conversion kit -1+2 lmk thanks

Yes, you can use a new rivet link.
Why did you have to grind the chain, by removing the rear wheel and the center nut holding the swing arm will obviously remove the chain.
Do you have a link for the bearing removal tool set? What brand is it?
The bearing remover set we used in the video is offered by Suzuki. Here's a link to it: www.partzilla.com/product/suzuki/09921-20240
@@PartzillaParts very nice kit.
Where can I find the same Torque measurements for the same part just for a 2007 gsxr 750 I just Recently took my swimg are off i just want to make sure I had the correct ft lbs gear video buy the way
The service manual will have all the specs.
@@PartzillaParts I've looked everywhere would you happen to have a link lmk thanks
Due to all the specialty tools, it might actually be cheaper to pay a shop to do it.
true
nah..i think u wrong there...he show us by using ordinary thing/tool there..also if it me i ll just use adding big washer, bolt n nut..
Great videos! How specifically are you supporting the bike centrally/front?
Strapped into the chalk and then a center lift to raise the back.
Aloha John! can you show us how to fix F1
Whats the code read?
I got a problem with the bearings of the monoshock of my bike, one of them was in a pretty bad shape so i needed to replace it, sadly i didnt find the same bearing, so i tried to use a bronze piece to replace it, you think it was a good idea?
Probably not. What's the bike? I'm sure the bearings are available.
Partzilla its a Honda Tornado 2014
Unfortunately, we only carry parts for US models. You would have to look locally for the parts.
Partzilla yeah im going try to find that bearing, meanwhile that bronze piece must be enought for now, thanks
What kind of jack is that
It's a center platform jack. There are quite a few styles out there.
I should probably do this on my V-strom. Winter project! I bet the dealer would charge over $1000 for this repair.
Great Video .....Can you Put an Extended Swingarm on my Gsxr 1000 ? haha
Do you have an email? I have a couple of questions.

@@PartzillaParts I have 2 pictures of swingarm I need to ask about.
That's alot of work right there I can do it I believe but the tools are a whole shit of $
Lol I dont think you'll hear about it lol
Jeez this bike is total wreck, everything needs to be replaced on it.
