    The best tip I've gotten for filling ziplock bags is to turn the top inch off the bag down. It helps keep the bag more open and keeps the seal clean!

    I use frozen wild blueberries for my pies. They have that blueberry flavor that is lacking in most regular frozen blueberries. Wymans is the brand and on their website they tell you how and why to use the frozen wild blueberries to get that perfect flavor.

    I have some silicone molds like that, and you’re right, it’s hard to get anything out of them. I’m wondering if it would be easier to mix the strawberries with pudding to make it a thicker consistency to get it in the molds? I gotta tell ya, this video was very entertaining. Big balls, little balls….theres a Dr Seuss book in there somewhere 😆😜😂

      thanks for the laugh! In this case I was looking for the strong tartness of the strawberry, but in others I do intend to incorporate some pudding as well. thanks for the tip

    I'd love to see a peanut butter version. I don't know how PB freeze dries though.

    I had wondered if there would be something the snack coater wouldn’t work so well with, like the grapes you had done some time ago making little Easter eggs.
    Is it possible that once the chocolatey coating is hardened that they might work in the Coater to achieve a shine with the Gum Arabic?
    I also wondered about the use of the mixing bowl with the graham crackers, would it have made sense to leave them in the bag once crushed and mixed there? Removing the middle step of putting it in a bowl to mix and returning to the bag, thereby having less to clean later?
    So much is seen afterwards! This must be why they say hindsight is 20/20. :)

      Yes you could do that for a shine. Not knowing how many packets of graham crackers I was going to use I chose to use a bowl. I will do it the same in the future but you can do them whatever way seems fit for you.

    Thanks for the honest tips! Questions? Could rolling the balls in a bowl extracting them to the tray be more efficient? Could the remaining chocolate used for drizzle have food color added to it at that point? Nice outcomes show us some more please. 😋😋😋

      I don't think the rolling in bowl would be any different than using the mixer attachment. and yes the chocolate could use an oil based food coloring.

    Another impressive freeze dried dessert. The wife has been making chocolate treats for Christmas for 40 years. You've added a whole new dimension. Thanks.

    That’s soooooo cool! I bet if you put the tumble bowl in the freezer first, then drizzle the chocolate over the balls as they tumble, it might be faster? But the humidity may be a bigger factor.

    • @CHEFTECH86
      @CHEFTECH86 3 місяці тому

      Or maybe do them outside in the winter when the humidity is very low. 🤔

    YUM ! You have excellent videos. Thank you for sharing !
    Also- have you FD raw meat and cooked meat ? If so what rehydrated the best and what is your favorite meat to FD ?

    • @JohnInBibs
      @JohnInBibs  3 місяці тому +1

      I have done both, I just did a video on raw steak a few weeks ago.

      My FD stays at my daughter's house. She freeze dries meat for the dogs all the time and they love it. They actually prefer eating it that way and wouldn't touch it when I tried to rehydrate them.

    Just a suggestion, use a condiment bottle instead of a plastic bag for filling molds. Bottles can be found at the dollar store and W mart.
